Ranch!!!.......ranch? Man I love that commercial. Oh, anyway.....dude anything you do is worth a read/listen to your fans. You have a tangible yet evasive likeable-ness that your minions are drawn to. Think of yourself as like.....Ron Howard. Boyish, likeable....but also famous. So everyone is interested in what he does and says (to some degree or another). So podcast away. Heck, with the advent of the Nano, I'll even tune in. I know that thrills you. Best Regards, at September 21, 2005 10:11 AM
I live on a farm and we have goats. And goatfucking? I just don't know. I just don't see it happening. Posted by: Dave Diamond at September 21, 2005 10:47 AM
Hey dude, at September 21, 2005 11:04 AM
So this will be a podcast just playing indie music you like? It sounds great provided I like the same music. But you should totally do it if you want to. Posted by: Aaron at September 21, 2005 11:21 AM
Totally do a podcast!! Your Audioblog kicked ass. at September 21, 2005 11:37 AM
I listened to the David Lawrence interview. The thing about podcasts is, now that the novelty is wearing off, content is becoming much more important. It used to be enough to throw a podcast up and say a bunch of stuff that you'd normally blog or possible start to blog and then edit. Now, like blogs, a podcast really needs to say something unique to gain an audience(Although with your built in blog audience, you will have no trouble). Just make it awesome if you do it. Do something no one else is doing. Of course, I'll listen even if it just ends up being goatfucking jokes. :-) Posted by: Shane Nickerson at September 21, 2005 12:20 PM
I didn't manage to listen to the whole Chase interview (yet), but I loved the bit I did hear! Even though I'd read the story of why you quit TNG on this site, I was almost in tears as you were telling Chase the story. Powerful stuff :) Posted by: Laura at September 21, 2005 12:22 PM
I admit, I'm not into podcasting - but if you did one, I would definately listen. I loved the interview with Chase. I came in on the last hour or so. As usual, you were smart, witty, and charming. ;) - Kelly Posted by: Kelly at September 21, 2005 12:30 PM
Oh! I should also share my pirate-ness. Here I am, dressed as a pirate for DragonCon 2005 in Atlanta: click here for it - it's large - Kelly Posted by: Kelly at September 21, 2005 12:33 PM
Do the podcast - regardless of what you decide to do for content. I would prefer life stories and not music, but whatever you do, my wife (who has a crush on you) and I will listen! Brian at September 21, 2005 01:01 PM
Podcasting is definitely the way to go. Posted by: Sick-But-Pretty at September 21, 2005 01:10 PM
Wil, I know you've said you're going to cut down on your blogging a bit from now on. That's cool, and we all respect that. A podcast, however, would seem to be less time consuming, and would be more like Uncle Willie of old. :) With a podcast, you could just rant on about the Axis of Evil (Bush & Co.), some random event at a street intersection, or your thoughts on poker, parenthood, pets, playing games, pretty much anything you like. Except alliteration. I hate alliteration. Wil, I'd be honored (and honoured) to have you on my list of podcasts. Posted by: Schmutzig at September 21, 2005 01:12 PM
wil, your interview was awesome (yes, i listened for all 2 hours, even pausing it to vacuum). it really reminded me of the wit, humor, and overall excellence just a geek had in it. i really loved hearing all about what's going on and your thoughts about what you're doing. and yes, if you podcasted (is that right?) i'd so download it. as long as it were free. don't charge for it like some other people do. of course, that's just my opinion. Posted by: Lewis at September 21, 2005 01:21 PM
Jesus, that interview was 2 hours long? Holy crap it felt like about 20 minutes. And it totally helped my very slooooooooow day at work. I really loved the interview with Chase. You kept apologizing for talking so long, but that was the best part! That's the first time I've listened to you - until now I've just been reading. I think I'll have to listen to the audiobook of Just a Geek now. Posted by: svenden at September 21, 2005 01:31 PM

Hey Wil, We are about the same age, scary huh? >=) Out of curiosity I've been reading up on you via this website and you are kinda sounding half-punk-ass-cool and half OLD MAN. And here ya go, wanting to spend more time sitting around and doing audio blogs for blobs(sorry guys!) who have time to sit around and listen. It's not to say I don't think you have neat things to say, it's just I think you've got EVEN BETTER things to do in your life! You are not an old man, you shouldn't be thinking of ways to be a convalescent! DUDE??? I only prod on this because you sounded like you want to do more in your life as mentioned on your Chase interview. For a guy your age, and with the world we know, you could be doing A LOT more than sitting around contemplating your navel! =D Yes, this is from a female geek who plays video games and knows how to hack in Linux. But I also know how not to be a putz... I do get out and do amateur yacht racing, some paragliding, horsemanship/riding, hiking, urban or rural adventuring.. BESIDES my Disneyland Annual Pass. ;-) btw: a group of us going to Club33 in late October, if you and your wife would like to come, drop a note. Mainly working geek folks like architects and/or I.T. for entertainment industry--who appreciate Dilbertness now and then. at September 21, 2005 04:50 PM
OOps... sorry about the added spaces. The preview showed none, so I added break tags! =o ~HGB Posted by: HawaiianGiraffeBabe at September 21, 2005 04:56 PM
Hell yeah Wil do a podcast! Anyone that can use the word goatfucker in a sentence is fully qualified to podcast. Posted by: Groundrush at September 21, 2005 06:31 PM
Definitely do the podcast. That would rule. Better put it on a good server too. Nobody likes melted server. Posted by: Josh at September 21, 2005 06:51 PM
Dude. I can hear my nano calling your name. Even if you only end up doing it once or twice, it would definitely be worth it. Seriously. Posted by: Ericka at September 21, 2005 10:27 PM
Just had to let you know, because you asked, that the interview with Chase was awesome and it could have been longer. *LoL* There are few things more entertaining than hearing you talk about yourself. That thing about Paris really pissed me off, but, hey, it's in the past now, so what can you do? Keep up the good work. Can't wait to read your books! If you decide to start podcasting (cool!), use the Radio-Free Burrito name. Unless you come up with a totally killer name. And.. If after a while, the podcast starts to feel like it is sucking, kill it. Posted by: AmiNTT at September 21, 2005 11:51 PM
Will, Your blog is more fun to read and parade thru, I plan to check back. Cindi at September 22, 2005 01:51 AM
Well, Wil, a podcast sounds like a great idea. If you get it going, shoot me your promo and I will definately play in on Reaching for Lucidity. Hell, I may even have to add you to the RfL Royal Court! Anything that I can do to help, just buzz me over at RfL headquarters! All of my contact detail is on the site. Hell, I will start to tease the fact on the show tomorrow, if you are serious. Take it easy Bro! Posted by: Eban Crawford at September 22, 2005 05:20 AM
World Series of Uno! Good job rolling with that one. Posted by: Unearthed Ruminator at September 22, 2005 05:59 AM
Hey, Just a quick thought. I have read with a bit of sadness lately that you are not getting as much fulfillment lately out of your blog as you used to. It happens to the best of bloggers. With all that happens in life you get burned out from sharing your problems with complete strangers, or you just don't think your blog has a point anymore... anyway what I am trying to say is that podcasting is a pretty timeconsuming and ultimately more personal thing to do than even blogging. You have to really ask yourself if this is something you really want to put your creative force into... as much as I am a fan of your blog and such, I think you really need to ask yourself if you want it to continue, let alone adding new features (especially ones that can really suck your lifeforce). at September 22, 2005 08:10 AM
I have to admit that I don't really know the implications of podcasts, because I will never own an iPod. If podcasts can be accessed for people without iPods, go for it. Otherwise, I recommend doing something less proprietary. Apple is no better than Micro$oft, only different. Apple software and hardware is more proprietary and closed than Micro$oft, and you pay much more for equivalent technology. Don't get me wrong - Micro$oft is indeed the Evil Empire... Anyone have a link to a mirror of the David Lawrence podcast? I'm getting a file not found message when I try to dl it. thanks, Posted by: Ed at September 22, 2005 09:51 AM
I listened to the whole Chase interview (and a few of her other ones.. she's a very good interviewer). It was awesome! Gonna get the JAG audiobook now (well.. not *now* but soon). Posted by: bpb at September 22, 2005 10:16 AM
I should have time to listen to it on Saturday unless Rita takes out my power - I'm 5 hours from the coast so I should be fine Posted by: Reddy at September 22, 2005 10:36 AM
