50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

the cosmic ballet goes on

Posted on 14 November, 2025 By Wil

A couple nights ago, my sister sent me a picture of the gorgeous aurora over her house in the upper midwest, so I took a picture in my back yard and sent it to her, to share my own view of the phenomena:

We do this every time she can see the aurora. It’s never not funny to both of us. I really love and cherish my sister.

A couple hours went by, and I looked at Bluesky, where I saw that this particular aurora event was a straight up phenomenon that was really blowing the skies up all over the place. The photos people were posting from all over North America, as far south as New Mexico, were all breathtaking.

So I had a silly idea that resulted in some alt text that I am so obnoxiously proud of, not only did I repost my own post yesterday, explicitly for more than five people to see it, I wrote a whole damn blog post so I could post this:

ALT TEXT: An extremely real photograph of the Aurora Borealis, its gossamer shrouds of red and green blown by the solar wind across the skies above Los Angeles. Definitely not a fake if you were wondering. I mean why would anyone even fake something like that? Because he’s like jealous of everyone who gets to see it for real tonight? Pfft! That’s just silly. Go back to enjoying the very real picture of nature’s very real majesty that was just taken in the skies above Los Angeles. Oh and if you go outside to look for yourself you probably won’t see it because it was almost out of science energy and was kind of just vanishing. Good thing there’s a real picture of it from someone who really saw it, to remember it.

I had fun with that, and it made me laugh a lot. Everything is terrible (some things are getting better! He will die soon!) so it’s more important to me than ever that I make time and space to laugh and have fun. One of the ways I have always done that is by allowing myself to be easily amused and entertained.

You made it to the end of another week! Congratulations. I hope you get to spend your weekend with people who love you.

    “out of science energy” 🤣

And here I am pretending I could see it through the clouds coating the PNW.

Sitting here in Cornwall UK watching
Snooker, a strange passion given to me by my wife Jodie, love of my life. Thought it was the most boring game on the planet now I sit here watching it sending her results surprising myself at how my life
has changed, love does that. Whilst watching and sending Jodie snooker results while she works your email came up about the lights in the sky. Found myself smiling because I like your words and how you want people to have a great life. I can see it in your words, (well I guess my interpretation of your words,) which I choose to believe. Thanks for the smile and the good feeling. I’m feeling gratitude man and you’re getting some.
Ps Let me know when you start selling sweet shirts please.
    Take care buddy
    Chris

You’re hilarious and I love that you get to love your sister like I get to love my brother.
I also did not see it. I was too close to the city and as I’ve been sick for weeks I went to bed at 9:30 pm. Oh well.
I have family coming to your locale tomorrow for a heartbreaking memorial (notes on that in Los Angeles on discord.)
I will not be there since TODAY my twins turn twelve! And I couldn’t cancel their birthday party.
Keep being sassy, we like it that way.

I can’t put my finger on what it is about your writing that gives the warm and fuzzy/brings a tear to my eye often, but you have it. That mystical way of writing that just makes me feel. You must’ve always had it because I’ve been following you for almost 25 years for a reason. Please keep doing the thing. You have a special place in my world and that is pretty awesome!

You do make me smile..Most of the time. . However..are you really wishing someone to die? That’s sad. In the end, we are all humans here and no one is 100% good or 100% bad.

Oh, to be clear: I am wishing for him to suffer, and suffer, and suffer, and keep on suffering, until he dies very slowly.

I maybe shouldn’t make this into a thing, I’m not trying to, but some troll asked me at Facebook today in a comment at a Meidas Touch post how I would feel if someone wished me to die (I had posted your bon mot of “Perhaps today. If not today ….”). I told her, the troll, I didn’t know because I wasn’t a child rapist or a thousand other evil things”. That will be my standard response from now on.

Thank you so very much for the smile. I love your picture. “I am out of science energy!” I can’t even do this much. I haven’t seen one either, even in northern Midwest territory. I live in town. Too much light pollution to see much, and I generally sleep at night. Maybe some day. But I did enjoy the laugh!

You too! I hope you spend loads of time this weekend and every day with people you love :). Love your very real picture. Reminds me that I should put my Christmas lights up early this year just because everyone needs more pretty lights.

There is a very weird phenomenon in my neighborhood wherein any awesome nighttime activity produces complete cover. The only cool thing I ever witnessed in 30 plus years living here was the total eclipse of the sun and that was only because it obviously happened during the daytime.

So jealous of the rest of the world!
