50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

02.02.02

  • random thoughts

This has got to be the coolest day to write, this year. (If it isn’t, I’m sure someone will point that out!)
I was watching A&E last night, and there was a show all about Jack Benny. I guess Jack Benny used to always refer to things the same way I do, calling them “the best”, or “the most amazing”, or whatever.
One of his friends said that Jack Benny would come in from a shoeshine, and say, “Would you look at this shine? This is the best shine, ever!”. After eating a lunch, he’d say, “How about this ham and cheese? This has got to be the best ham and cheese I’ve ever had!”
Sounds like he had a mostly postive attitude, and really enjoyed life. I thought that was really cool.
So it came to my attention that today is Brent Spiner’s birthday. Happy birthday, Brent! He must be at least as old as I am, now. Wow.
Neverland continues to be amazing. I will take some pictures and put a few of them up this coming week.
Jane White is getting some RAVE reviews. Check out Box Office Magazine, Entertainment Today, and Indie Rag. We are having more Jane screenings soon, so watch this space, or check the official Jane website for more info. I just love Jane White, from top to bottom. Everything about this movie makes me smile, and I hope you will all get a chance to see it.
I was sent a copy of DHTML and CSS for the World Wide Web, from peachpit press (Thank you, ALEXA!), and I’ve been reading it in all my free time. This site is going to be so badass, I can’t even begin to describe it. Looking at my source makes me cringe, right now, but Roughy and I should have the whole thing fixed RSN. ๐Ÿ™‚
Now, I am off to take lunch to my lovely wife, who is over-booked with clients today at the salon (yes, that’s right. My wife is that good a hairdresser. They over-book, baby!).
Thought for today comes again from the Lama:

“Seeking blessings from outsiders is not right. Your life is on your own shoulders.”

Have a good weekend, everyone.

You know Lorretta Lynn named one of her sons Jack Benny. Saw part of Coal Miner’s Daughter last nite.
And Brent Spiner is my age, 34. He just looks younger. Hope he has a hella-rad BD, anyway. Hella. Hella. Hella.

Not to be a voice of dissent, Mr. Wheaton, SIR!
    But you misspelled “llama” too.
Who I presume is a relative of the moose.

“Seeking blessings from outsiders is not right…”, but when a happy, unsought for blessing from an outsider occurs, well, count your blessings ๐Ÿ™‚
Your site is a lot of fun, Wil, and your Soapbox is terrific. Great folks!

Of course he could be referring to an entirely
different Lama. I’m taking a giant leap into
the land of assumption here, but maybe it is the
Dalai Lama ๐Ÿ˜› Ouch all that brain activity
hurts, I need to go lie down for a while. LOL

  11. Jun says:
    2 February, 2002 at 1:38 pm

Was that Brent Spiner as the greasy French guy Pierre on “Dude, Where’s My Car?” or was that some other dude that looks like him?

  12. Jun says:
    2 February, 2002 at 1:40 pm

Of course it’s the Dalai Lama.
What, you’re thinking llamas can talk?
What are you smoking, and where can I get some?

  13. Kimberly3 says:
    2 February, 2002 at 1:43 pm

    Jun,
Yes, that was him. It was uncredited, but appears in his IMDB listing.

  14. Bleu says:
    2 February, 2002 at 2:02 pm

Well llamas can talk in the Emperor’s New Groove. HA HA lighten up it was supposed to be funny

I always thought the Lama said “When you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.”

i think i’m a big old sap, but i do love it they way wil more often than not says “my wife” rather than “anne”. i do hope when i’m married my husband stays as proud of me as wil is of anne.
    aww.
    s’all good.

  17. Courtney says:

  23. JSc says:

I’m disappointed at the inability of some people here to distinguish sarcasm from a serious correction.
    Oh well.
    I think I can deal.
    Maybe.

  24. kendoka says:
    2 February, 2002 at 4:39 pm

Must be descendants of the llamas in SimCity 2000…
Speaking of Lamas, the Dalai Lama is going to be in town in April to give a talk and to dedicate a new temple in Bloomington.
Except this time, unlike the other times he’s visited, the University is charging for the tickets… and you know, the words “Ticketmaster” and “Dalai Lama” just don’t belong in the same sentence!

First of all, happy birthday, Brent! Even though I don’t know you and have no idea how old you are, you certainly are a fine thespian. I suspect 34 is about right… What a great entry today, Mr. Wil – glad to hear things are working well for you at present and yes I think that today’s date does look pretty darn cool. V. good quote – just what I needed today. And Cindy, am fellow Can. – am in Toronto. Bet we have more snow than you? Will now go check info. about Jane White – we usually get new films here around the same time as N.Y., so hopefully I will get to it.

  28. duchess says:
    2 February, 2002 at 4:48 pm

Oh, now that I’ve actually read about it, guess it is doing the festival circuit – if there are plans for it to be at the Toronto Film Festival in September, would love to know. Looks like…ahem..fun.

Jane White…hmm…And on Friday is Ethan Phillips…don’t ask me why I could pull that up from memory, cause for the life of me I can barely remember the quadratic equation, and that is so much more important than Mr. Phillip’s birthday…

  39. Jon says:
    2 February, 2002 at 8:35 pm

Square Root of b squared-4ac divided by 2a
I’ll never forget it. It was very traumatic…

  40. Jon says:
    2 February, 2002 at 8:40 pm

Jane White looks so cool, particularly based on who’s in it (Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood are so awesome on “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?”).
3 posts on this entry and I failed to wish Brent Spiner a Happy Birthday! I can be so self-centered sometimes…

  41. CarolP says:
    2 February, 2002 at 8:41 pm

Since we’re quoting the Dalai Lama I thought I’d share one of my favorite Dalai Lama quotes. “A wise man never feels out of place.”

  42. Spudnuts says:
    2 February, 2002 at 8:44 pm

How come Vanna White never does Wheel with a hook?
I think she should do a fucking show with a hook.
    And an eye patch.
    Why not?
    It’s a fucking PC thing, isn’t it?
    Yeah.
    PC.
Don’t you think the show would enjoy a ratings boost during Hook Week?
There aren’t enough prosthetics on American game shows and it pisses me off.

  43. Spudnuts says:
    2 February, 2002 at 8:45 pm

    Motherfuck Brent Spiner!
Just trying to keep the comments balanced is all.

  44. Spudnuts says:

Where’s your fucking hook and eye patch, Brent?!
    No excuses, bitch.

    Happy Imbolc everyone!
Or, for those who don’t celebrate that…happy candlemas!
And, more directly to Mr. Brent Spiner, Happy Birfday.
oh, and Duchess, you’re in T.O? I’m in Sudbury, a tad more north than you..i bet I got ALOT more snow than you.
But it’s not something i’m proud of…the tears keep rolling every time I have to shovel the driveway.
    Oh well, blessed be.
    Drax’n

  50. Spudnuts says:
    2 February, 2002 at 11:31 pm

    Ooo.
No, I hadn’t seen that eBay link for the Spudnuts postcard. Actually, I have seen that doughnut graphic before…
I used it on a site I did called “Cathedral of the Hydrogenated Snack Cake” like… six years ago. (Won CSotD in 1997, I think. Sure, it’s no Bloggie, but it’s still better than a Golden Globe).
Still… I wouldn’t get too-too excited about the postcard except for the little blurb that says “can be redeemed for spudnuts/never been used.”
THAT’S the part that interests me.
Some-WHERE there is some-ONE who will redeem that postcard for hot, fresh spudnuts.
    I must own that card.
    I WILL own that card.
And then I will find the person who will exchange it for doughnuts… er… spudnuts.
    My life finally has meaning.
