Game ON!

  • random thoughts

April 26th is here, doo dah, doo dah.
Hey! My Los Angeles Kings beat the Colorado Avalanche in OVERTIME last night, to keep their playoff chances alive!
GO KINGS GO!
Nolan wants the Avalanche to win, because he always plays them as his team on PS2, so we had much fun last night, watching the game and cheering for our respective teams. Ryan isn’t that crazy about hockey, but he did watch the first period with me…then I hammered him in USA vs. The World mode on NHL 2002.
I really treasure things like watching a game, or playing PS2 with them. Nolan even tried to work the “Hey Wil, since this is such an important game, can I stay up past my bedtime to see what happens?”
So of course I didn’t give in…not. I let him stay up until the end of regulation, which was about 9:30…his bedtime’s 9, so that wasn’t too bad. When the Kings won in overtime (YEAH BABY!) I jumped up from the couch and gave one of those victory screams…you know the kind, right? I mean, unless you live in Chicago…or Sacramento.
Well, I gave one of those screams, and ran into the back of the house, not realizing that Nolan was probably asleep…until I got to his bedroom door, and saw him, lying on his bed, eyes shut. Without even opening his eyes he deadpans, “Kings won, huh?”
I love it when he deadpans stuff like that. I think he gets that from me.
So, I’ll be away for the weekend with The Guys(tm). There won’t be any more updates until Sunday night, or Monday night, depending on how crazy the weekend is.
I hope everyone has an awesome weekend, filled with magic and illusion!

Come on now Wil…don’t dis Chicago. We kinda dominated the NBA for a while. Now it’s time to give others a chance.
    Oh yeah…GO CUBS!

Go Kings. In Philadelphia, it’s widely beieved that the authorities will find the body of Jimmy Hoffa before the Flyers score their next goal in regulation.
    *sigh*

    Wil,
Glad your team won. I live in Chicago and have learned to live with the pain. At least, my therapist thinks so. hehe
I am SO ready for this weekend. I guess with no updates, I’ll have to go outside and breath the fresh air.

Kings win? You’ll be hearing a lot of that from now and to the end of the playoffs when the Kings knock off the Celts for the NBA championship.

we take great care not to allow “magic'” or “illusion'” into our household and I’ll thank you not to invite them in on your own. Good Day!

I am glad you think its the 25th, it gives Al Pacino an extra day to celebrate his birthday. Hope you have a great weekend, do not tell your better half about any sins you broke (i.e. stripper, tequila, excessive smoking).

Does PS2 have any NASCAR games. I suggest getting it. Great racing game. Jr. practices with the games and hell it works. Don’t ask me he wins races just by using the video games.
Have fun this weekend. Lord knows unless Jr wins on Sunday it will be better than mine. 😛

Ha. I’m not talking to you Wil, your stupid Kings or anyone else L.A. for that matter. We can be friends agsain after my Avs take your boys downtown on Saturday. Prepare for a butt whipping Kings fans. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. please, please please….

One more thing: Tell Nolan it’s nice to see a young lad with such good taste in hockey teams. You could learn a thing or two from him. Young Nolan is welcome in Colorado anytime. You Mr. Wheaton, however, are another story… 😉

  12. edicius says:

Go Kings go, indeed. Mind you, I’m a rabid Red Wings fan, but any team facing the Avs, I’ll cheer for. The Kings came back against the Wings last season, they can come back against the Avs.
But the Wings will still win the Cup. Hee hee hee.

  13. soapbox jon says:
    26 April, 2002 at 9:09 am

    What edicius said.
However, I do believe that an Avs victory helps us because then we would get the short flight to St. Louis instead of the long trip to LA.
Course we gotta do something about the Canucks first.
But as far as the Kings go-I respect any team that has Cartman on the scoreboard screen chanting various goalie’s names!

  14. Liz says:
    26 April, 2002 at 9:17 am

Darn, I missed seeing the hockey game! I tend to cheer for any team against the Avalanche only because it annoys a friend of mine in Colorado.
    Yea Kings!
I know I had some stuff to say, but the hamster must have died and fallen off the wheel. Oh well. Sorry ’bout that.

  15. Anneke says:
    26 April, 2002 at 9:22 am

Well, it’s good that someone’s team is doing well!
Granted, I think the Blues are still in it, for now, but they are guaranteed to choke sooner rather than later. The curse of being a St. Louis hockey fan!

  16. James says:
    26 April, 2002 at 9:44 am

Hey Wil, did you ever notice that if you combine your son’s names you come up with Nolan Ryan, one of the greatest poitchers of all time? Crazy fluke? I think not.

I never want to move back to Hamilton.
Maybe it was just because I was there in the 70s.

At least everyone seems to live in a state where there is some sports team or just something to be proud of. I live in Kentucky. What, if anything, do we have? College basketball? Whoop-a-dee-doo.
As for the weekend, may you not be forced to pray to the altar of the porcelian god.

Just have to say this, being the self-proclaimed Most Avid Avs Fan in Wyoming…
    GO AVS!
We really should have taken the game last night, but oh well. Any Avs vs. Kings game is bound to be a dogfight until the very end, which has been the case of the entire series. I know my boys can do it. 🙂

Doug Henning, bless his dearly departed soul, tried to open a theme park in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Isn’t THAT a scary thought?
I’m with you on Hamilton, Gaea. I got stranded overnight there once, in the parking lot of a 7-11 with a broken car after a Rush concert.
    (Go Habs!)

  36. Fallulah says:

As an avid Canadian hockey fan I of course am paying close attention to the play-offs. You’d assume I would be cheering for all the Canadian teams but such is not the case. My team is Detroit. My boss is from Vancouver and we have a rivalry going. I am so excited that the Sens have blanked Philly 3 straight games. LALIME IS THE MAN! I am cheering for the Isles because of Osgood and because I hate the leafs. (Probably cuz my mom loves them. A bit of the Nolan/Wil thing going down). The Habs are good shit. I have cheered for them for years. Koivu is one sexy talented bitch and I am glad he’s back in the game. So I am still staying true to my roots. This year I want the Sens to take it all the way…I am still bitter that Detroit has Hull and Hasek, my two least fave players. BUT YAH THE PLAY-OFFS RULE! Nothing better than sitting in front of the TV, Pilsner in hand and shouting superlatives at the screen! This coming from a 19 year old female Canadian girl is a sight to behold.

    Wil,
I know the feeling, my gaggle of buddies to me to Blues/Blackhawks last night. I am quite hungover this morning and have a hoarse voice from screaming so much. But, tell me this, is there anything more exciting than playoff hockey? That is the best thing about living in St Louis, we go almost every year! 😉 Well, for the last 23 years atleast. Later

    Wil, two things…
    1. I thought Voyager would have been rescued by Wes and the Traveler.
    2. I still think, albeit the idea is way outdated, that Wes is Picard/Bev Crusher’s son.
I just picked up on your website and I will go back over more if it when I get a chance.
Life is great until somebody pushes the wrong button and the whole planet goes *kaboom* like a Bugs Bunny explosion, followed by the typical cartoon “eye blink” sound (two of them if I remember correctly)

  40. Julie says:

    GO HABS GO!
And go Canucks and Avs (sorry, Wil! But you’ve got the greatest goalie of the recent era on the Avs. And, you know, he was a Hab.).
But definitely go Habs. We’re gonna kick some Bruin ass and advance to round 2. Habs in six, baby!

I laughed so hard at the “Nolan – deadpan” thing … I *so* pictured the scene. CUTE :-)!!!!
Geez, they were supposed to show “Toysoldiers” tonight, but they didn’t … grrrr!
    Just thought to mention ;-).
Take care and have an awesome weekend, all of you!
