50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

Look ma, I’m on TechTV!

  • random thoughts

I love that I can sit here in a hotel in San Francisco, scan for an open WAP, and update my website.
Now, if I can just have my damn flying car, the future will finally be here as promised.
So this is just a reminder that I’ll be guest hosting Screen Savers on TechTV, tomorrow (Tuesday the 17th). I’m off to enjoy this amazing city with my wife.
UPDATE 12:09 PM 12.17.02: Attention Farkers: I will be wearing The Shirt.
That is all.

You should treat your wife to a nice show at the Nob Hill or the O’Farrell theater.
On second thought she might not enjoy that sort of exotic entertainment…
I know I can kill a whole day in SF going to Japantown, the Metreon, the SF Moma, or saying a little prayer as I walk over the GG bridge for all the depressed people who leaped to their deaths from it. Yikes.

    Hi Wil,
Just seen the Star Trek special of Weakest link, I have not laughed so hard in quite a while, even my mother thought it was funny but what amazed me more is the fact my sister smiled, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a smile on her face or even heard her laugh. The reason she chuckled was the fact I said that you had blue hair now, and she just thought that was funny.
I suppose what I’m trying to say is thank you for making her smile and chuckle and… well you know Stuff.

Well, I can’t afford a trip to San Francisco right now..so I guess I’ll just have to settle for playing Midtown Madness 2.
I’ve never watched Screen Savers before…but if Wil is on it, then I guess there is no excuse for me not to see it! I’m even on vacation this week. So that’s either fate or blind chance. Coinkydink!

    Good lord.
    It is time.
    Past time, really.
Can we all just PLEASE chip in and buy Wil a new freakin’ shirt???
He did mean “The Shirt,” right? “The Shirt” that he’s wearing in like every other picture taken in the last year?
    You know, “The Shirt” ™.
Or wasn’t that the shirt he meant?
And don’t get shirty with me about this, Mister. I’ve got my eye on you.

    >Flying cars…. flying cars….. wasn’t it Avery Brooks who demanded >flying cars? Oh well, I guess Star Trek inspires those dreams =) >Anyway, good luck on the show, have fun!
Phil, that commercial was hilarious! Avery was great in those IBM spots. I love Avery (and DS9) a lot to begin with, but that ad was all the more funny to me, ecause the first time my wife I stepped outside on Jan. 1, 2000 that was the first thing I said: “Where are the flying cars they promised us?!?” A couple moths later, that ad debuted.
Corky, MOJO MOJO MOJO MOJO…. I hope it helps! My thoughts are with the baby and her family.
Wil, I’ll be watching Tech TV tonight! I think we get that channel on DirecTV. I hope it’s not on the same time that Trio is showing reruns of the late, lamented, “Action!” That show was hilarious, as all three of you who watched it know. Have fun in SF, and say hi to Bob Weir for me.
    🙂

Astute readers, of which the likes of this page does not embrace. How is it that a person of your subservient stature is deserving of his own web-page! I am thorougly outraged at this matter! Throughout my life I have embraced internet icons such as Ron Jeremy and John Holmes to the fullest of my abilities but Wil Wheaton! He is not fit to carry my jacket the penitent plebian! Wil, save the internet bandwith for someone who is deserving of such the honor of being placed, immortalized if you will for the world in it’s entirety to embrace and hold!

Wil, I sure hope you’re using some encryption when checking your email and updating your site over public WiFi (or private wifi, since really all wifi is very public). Email me if you want some tips on how to safely use your mac on untrusted networks. If you don’t use encryption on wireless networks, you _will_ regret it. Especially in a city like SF, where there are tons of people capturing data off the air. Heck, I was dumping data off wireless networks just last night in SF!
Speaking of which, you were missed at the creative commons thing lastnight (for which your name was on the guestlist..). There was even a live performance of the original trek theme 🙂

I really enjoyed the episode of TSS when they came out to your house to upgrade your system. Big fan of “TNG” and it’s great to see you again on TV Wil. (you look like you’re having a great time on TSS)

The Flying Car(TM) used the be THE symbol representing the future for me when I was growing up (I’m 5 years younger than you, Wil – this is my first post, by the way – hello!). Me and my friends fully fully believed that by the year 2000 (a year insanely distant back in the 80s) just about everyone would own their very own Flying Car(TM). Seems crazy today, but back then it seemed the inevitable destination of immediate technology.
    Like you, I wait….

I’m loving the fact that good hotels are putting in WAPs and letting anyone use them. When I go with my brother to the Hyatt near SFO to study, I drag along my laptop and leech off their free wireless network so I don’t die of boredom.
In other news, good job on your hosting duties on TechTV!

Just watched you on Tech TV. You were awesome! What a refresher after all the “amateur hour” stuff they’ve been doing! (Sorry Megan!) They should make you a regular except you’d have to move to San Francisco. Here’s hoping you co-host again, only this time with Martin! You two would be a hoot!
