You can, of course, substitute “movie” or “game” or “novel” for “comic book” as necessary.

The thing is, I have to laugh about this, because if there’s one thing geeks excel at, it’s taking something we love and turning it into something to argue about.

(Thanks to Kevin Church. If you like comics, even a little bit, you should really be reading his blog.)

Isn’t that the truth? It was always my contention that (for example) Doctor Who fans as a unit have more in common with each other than they do with the world as a whole and yet, it is now as it’s always been, fans of Doctor A vs. fans of Doctor B

Nono, Wil. Geeks excel at taking something we love and turning it into something else we love: arguing. 😉

I agree w/the comment about Dr Who. It never ceases to amaze me the fights people in fandoms can get into. My favorite are the people who slug it out in fan-fic

It could have read, “My appreciation for John Scalzi’s novels…” right? Of course, that’s just my way of changing the subject. On your recommendation, I finally picked up one of his books, “Old Man’s War.” I thoroughly enjoyed it.
You are a god (little “g”).
    Rock on!

I’m a Doctor Who fan in a Star Trek country. I don’t even have other Who fans to fight with over which Doctor is better.
But do people really take offense when someone else enjoys a different comic book than the first person’s favorite? That’s really odd.

@ MntlWard I’ll fight w/you over which Dr had a worse outfit (I vote 6). Or the worst pick up lines (I vote 8). Or the always fun, who had worse aliens,STOS or old school who?-you have Kirk throwing foam rocks at a godzilla thing vs. the pixel-y black hole thing in the 3 drs.
