happy winter festival of your choice

  • WWdN in Exile

aftermath

We celebrate a non-religious, minimally-commercial version of Xmas here in Wheatonland, and the 2008 installment is awesome.

Whatever you choose to celebrate this time of year, I hope it’s filled with all the stuff you like, none of the stuff you don’t like, and that you’re surrounded by people you love, because that’s how I’m doing it, and it rules.

Merry and Happy, everyone!

You know, repackaging old gifts retains its magic s long as you share the experience with people you love. That makes all the difference! Happy & Merry.

Or Summer Festival of your choice. However, strangely enough, my favourite christmas songs involve snow, ice and sleigh bells. Damn Northern Hemisphere and your crazy upside down seasons.
Best wishes from our family to yours, Wil.

    Great photo!
The strut broke on our car Monday, which caused us to be stranded out here in the country where we live. Money goes for that – no presents again this year! Geez.
Thankfully, I already had the Christmas dinner fixins’ bought and a nice juicy ham is in the oven.
Christmas alone with Don (Hubby), Dot (kittie), and Merlyn (15 yr old dog) who is nonchalantly eyeing that oven every few moments. 🙂
It’s in the mid 50’s and sunny here in North Carolina. I haven’t had a white Christmas since I last lived in Illinois, before leaving for Arizona State U back in the early 90’s. *sighs*
Regardless, it is a great Christmas! And I hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday!
    HUGS!

My family and I are freezing our butts off in Nova Scotia, enjoying our non-religious Christmas, looking over our loot, and making enchiladas…
Can’t help but chuckle, I can hear my sister watching Stand by Me in the living room right this moment…
    Merry Christmas.

You surprised me today, I saw you on a countdown show for the best 100 toys ever. It was great to see at least one cool and talented person amidst the lame comedians that usually offer interjections on those shows.
    You rock!
Oh, and Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!

My mantra this year: “Love and be loved. Have fun. Be safe.” Hope you have it all and then some.
Me? I got Fallout3 from my amazing wife, so if you need me, I’ll be prowling the wastelands of DC.
Also, just another plug for the D&D podcast. Do it again and next time, shoot video. That would be awesome. Also, awesome.

    Merry Xmas!

last year i got hacked off with the over-commercialised-ness of the winter festive season, so invented piratemas which went down a storm with the stupid amount of people celebrating… this year is very different though. i have a tree, am on my own and ill, although my flatmate (who’s back in france til NYD) did manage to get his gift to me delivered in time… so i do have some shiny khorne demons to build when im feeling better… so im glad to see everyone is enjoying themselves this time round 🙂 i shall be curling up with my ‘wheaton300 happiest days’ and some soup today.. if that doesnt help then im doomed!

This year eveybody decided there were more important thing like being employed.

Since my favorite “holiday” song is “Fairy Tale of New York” by The Pogues, I’m not your typical holiday consumerist.
We will get each other something small but meaningful. Mister got the new Tales of Beetle the Bard, and I got the two OOTS books.
Happy Happy Joy Joy to everyone!
ps–we used the same red snowman paper!

Whichever holiday you choose to celebrate, I hope it is as good as it appears in the “after” photo…
For me, my son recently turned 2, and is just starting to get the idea of Christmas and Santa and stuff. He announced for us about a week ago that “Santa bring me a ball. A Different ball.” (cause he has like 10 already). Our holiday was made watching him plow through his loot Christmas morning (and amazingly still playing with all the stuff so far). And me playing the Ralphie’s dad prank and making sure he found his New Ball last of all….
Not sure how old your kids were when you got to do Christmas for them the first time… but I know I speak for all the parents when I say that my son’s laughs and gasps of surprise and delight are all I needed this year.

It’s great to hear your holiday was bountiful. I hope you and your family enjoy the week-end with good quality time together.
I know the Wheatons practice the non-religious form of Christmas, but I will stick my neck out and pray for your family to have good health and prosperous times ahead. God bless you always.

    Hey Wil,
I think you’ve talked about attending a private Lutheran school.
But you’ve never connected the dots between that and a non-religious Christmas.
    Can you post about that?

lololololol merry x-mas! i was just watching the TNG marathon the other day and damn boy you were skinny as hell back in the day and then they would tailor the uniform so it made you look even skinnier, wtf, that was whack.
btw the new Star Trek movie so wonk whack and wimpy, its like fashion designer decor + teenage heart throb I heart Lindsay Lohan style. psssht, if they’re going to do this crap, they should do a fucking Wesley Crusher galactic ruler VS Janeway Federation supreme lord
