I have begun a new project, which until I come up with a better name is called Project Do Something Creative Every Day For The Rest Of The Year (Yes, This Includes Holidays).
The first entry in PDSCEDFTROTY (YTIH) is a new episode of my neglected and long-overdue-for-updating podcast, Radio Free Burrito.
On this RFB, I deliver a bunch of weird audio collected from the internets, a whole lot of thank yous, and a reading from the special edition of The Happiest Days of Our Lives.
I don't usually promote RFB on my blog, but I had a lot of fun putting this episode together, so there you go.
Speaking of things I don't promote enough, did you know I partnered with Jinx to make some spiffy T-shirts? The costume department at Big Bang Theory even chose one of them for Evil Wil Wheaton to wear in The 21-second Excitation. I thought it was a pretty clever bit of meta meta. As it happens, that shirt is my favorite of all the shirts we did together, so hooray for that, too.

It is a good goal to have, I’ve been working on a robot a day and have done 172 consecutive days worth so far. It really has helped me to make time each day for creativity and it has made me more productive. My inspiration was Noah Scalin and his Skull-a-Day (plus he has a new book 365: A Daily Creativity Journal.
I just wrapped up a year of academics after 6 years away from any formal studying so I need to get my creativity going. But daily? Might be asking a lot from my exam-atrophied brain.
Will think about it as brain activity starts to return to typical levels.
Something creative every day? That’s dedication, sir. I salute you. If you start to run out of ideas, I happen to know of a fledgling podcast that would love to have you as a guest host.
More RFB, w00t! I love this new goal of yours…especially since we all benefit when you share. I adored this last line from a few days ago: “Twenty-two year-old me turned up Chet Baker on the CD player, and sighed wistfully. He didn’t have any idea that in less than a year, he would meet the girl of his dreams.” More, please!! 🙂

The ability to be creative and make something out of nothing is what makes humanity so amazing. I think this is an incredibly wonderful idea and an important one too! I recently taught myself to knit and crochet. I’ve been working at it for about 4 months now. It’s amazing to see a ball of yarn become something tangible. Yesterday I decided to start a new blog. I think that it is crucial that we keep our minds moving and learning! Good call.

Sorry Wil. Actually the apology should be aimed at myself. I have always loved your various podcasts, but this most recent one stunk. I understand you had a lot of catch-ups to do, but most of the rest wasn’t good. I love hearing your stories. I kept listening even when I thought, “Hey, this isn’t very interesting, maybe you should turn it off.” To this I replied, “No, Wil has never let us down before. Keep listening. It will get better. I promise.”
Can you see my face? Me, myself, and I all lied to each other and are giving you a scowl. Like the mom look that kids get when they get caught red-handed.
However the idea you have posted here is a good one, so I’ll let this one slip and just walk away. Don’t do it again.

In October, I did what I called a “Thing-A-Day Creativity Project.” It just about killed me, but I did manage to post something every day. At the end of the month, I had a great sense of accomplishment…and a high level of sleep deprivation.
What I’m saying is, I know what I’m talking about when I say I have a great deal of respect for you and I wish you luck with this. Have fun! 😀
Oh hell yes. I am a n00b to WWdN:IX but I am working my way through old posts and I downloaded the first 29 burritos, and am super duper happy to have found your world, and even happier to have another burrito.
I find I like it quite a bit when you “ramble” because sometimes rambling can be the genesis of some of our best ideas… I find that jamming or messing with different riffs makes it more likely for me to write a new song, and it’s similar when you just start riffing. It’s what makes your storytelling style so endearing. So keep on riffing!
I somehow wasn’t aware you had a podcast. It was fun!
BTW, maybe you could call the project “Thing a Day” which would totally be copying off Jonathan Coulton’s “Thing a Week,” but it’s much simpler than “Project Do Something Creative Every Day For The Rest Of The Year.”
