50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

it pays my way and it corrodes my soul

  • Travel

IMG_20150914_103540

I’m home from a vacation that I desperately needed, and in twenty minutes, I’m going straight to work on something that I love.

It feels weird to not post stuff here regularly (like, daily, I mean), but it also feels good to take some time to myself and reassess what I want to do with my time, how I feel about what I’ve been doing with my time, and also, like, what is time … really, man?

I don’t think I’m going to be writing in my blog as much as I’d like to for the near future, because putting pressure on myself to write here makes me not want to write here. That probably means I’ll go on some kind of blogsplosion soon.

But! If you just can’t get enough of me, you probably want to follow my Tumblr, because I post stuff there several times a day, even when I’m letting tumbleweeds and dust pile up on my blog. I’ve also been making Radio Free Burrito pretty regularly, and of course there’s my stupid Twitter thing.

Okay bye.

So you’re saying you feel strange… but also good? That’s catchy! Someone should put it in a script or something. 😉

I feel the same way. I come up with all these blog posts in my head and never write them. I’m much more likely to use Tumblr or Twitter or the Book of Face instead. Maybe one day I’ll see if there’s a way to embed Tumblr content in my blog based on specific tags.

Hey Wil, the link you posted to your tumbler does not work because of the S in the schema. Change the https:// to http:// and it works.

    Just an FYI, cheers!

Better to wait till you really feel like putting up a post than trying to make yourself post every day. Then you’ll feel better about when you do post and be excited to share it. Glad you got a vacation, happy you’re off to work on something you love. Your readers are happy to hear from you regardless.

    Wil,
You don’t HAVE to post daily. Do so when you want. No pressure from me the your time is yours and yours alone to share with whom you choose. When you choose to share a small slice with me, its good. I’d rather see you healthy, happy and without pressure.

That’s a lot of pressure Wil. Take it easy. Sit on the couch, watch Ground Hog Day (again) with a beer…and contemplate. Stick with us because we all want to hear from you – but create on your own schedule.

Just so you know, the link you posted to RFB didn’t go to RFB…. it went to the Foundation to Increase Awesomeness, which is cool and all, but I wanted to go to Radio Free Burrito, lol. (I also got one of those “This looks SUPER unsafe, better not go to this link, run awaaaay!” errors…..)

I seriously wonder how it is that you have time to contribute well-thought out and sometimes witty posts to various social mediums, your blog, and your writing but still have quality time for your two & four-legged family members, hockey, eating, and sleeping. Did you use the Time-Turner?
It’s definitely good to take care of YOU for a change. Don’t worry about pleasing us. We’ll be here.

Better to write less often when you want to than force yourself and write badly or uninspired.

    Wil,
I just listened to a few of your RFB podcasts, and as an avid penny-arcade reader and PAX attendee, It breaks my heart to hear you say that you don’t feel welcome at PAX anymore. I’ve always felt it was one of the most welcoming and open gaming conventions around.

You’re keynote there was legendary, and I absolutely love the work you have done in recent years, from the Acquisitions Inc. D&D shows, to all your work on geek and sundry like tabletop and titansgrave, your ‘conversations with creators’ for Playstation… It’s all so amazing, and the amount of things you’ve have had a hand in making that I enjoy is too long to list. So please don’t let the wheaton-haters get you down man.

Both your creative work, and how you so openly discuss dealing with depression really matters to a lot of people, myself included.

(sorry that this rambling post is unrelated to your blog post, but I’ve been actively keeping tabs on your work for awhile now, and listening to those most recent podcasts of yours compelled me to comment, and this was simply the easiest place to do it.)

Vacations are good. Rigid schedules for a completely voluntary bit of writing on something that didn’t exist 25 years ago? Mmm… I’ve yet to hear of someone on their deathbed saying, “I wish I had written a few more blog entries…” Glad you got away. Go do stuff you love.
