50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

I’m joining the cast of Powers

Brian M. Bendis is one of my favorite comic writers, and Remi Aubuchon is one of my favorite TV writers, so when they offered me a role on Powers, I said yes.

All the specific details are locked down with an NDA, but I start work soon, and I’ll hopefully be able to share some things from the set once I settle in, like who is directing my first episode (someone I’ve been dying to work with for decades!)

Here’s some of the press release:

Brian Michael Bendis, an executive producer on Powers and co-creator of the comics, says this new character will be revealed in upcoming issues. Wheaton’s character on the show is described as “exciting, mysterious and powerful.”

[…]

The series is available on the PlayStation Store for free streaming to all PlayStation Plus subscribers, and can also be purchased episodically. Season 2 is slated for a 2016 premiere.

I’m still putting a lot of time and energy into writing, because the things I pointed out in my reboot post haven’t changed, but I love Powers, and I love the people involved, so I’m excited to be invited to play with them, and bring this character to life.

Super cool. Bendis is one of my favs too (maybe my fav). I haven’t gotten to see Powers yet but now I have more incentive to catch up knowing you’ll be playing a part in the next season.

On an unrelated topic, I’m really hoping they’ll bring you back for the second season of Dark Matter.

Every once in awhile I proclaim “I’m Batman!” in a deep raspy voice. Then I realize how silly it sounds coming from well, a woman. I can dream, can’t I ? You can too, but in a much more productive way as you have many talents! Good luck and have fun!

Hooray! This is fantastic news (that you’ve had to sit on for a while now, am I right?)! Don’t let depression tell you any different: your Essence is Awesome. I could go into your Aspect and your Attribute (and these concepts I’m pulling from Spider Robinson’s “Involuntary Man’s Laughter” from the book Callahan’s Secret, third in the Callahan’s series. [Robinson took the reference from Roger Zelazny’s novel Lord of Light.]), but that will take more brain than I currently have operating at the moment. Ask around, somebody you love will be able to tell you what your Aspect is and what your Attribute(s) may be. Just remember – YOU ARE AWESOME at your very core. Thank you for being you and sharing you with us.

I followed the link to see what Powers is about…. “Powers, an edgy dramatic series”. Congrats, Wil. You’re finally “edgy”. xD Too bad it’s only on Playstation and I’ll never get to see it.

Congrats. I hope you get to be a bad guy again. While I’m a die hard Trekkie I loved you as Chaos on Leverage.

Giving shape to a character & bringing him off the page and into the world for the first time … that has to be about as fun as it gets for an actor.

    Go get ’em!!

  29. Eli says:

That is totally awesome! I think you would be great in something like that.

  31. leons1701 says:

Congrats! I’d be more excited if it were easier to watch Powers, but that’s still awesome and something to look forward to when it’s more widely available.

I found the first season mesmerizing. I couldn’t stop watching. You being on it will only make it that much better.

Am I allowed (as a UK Playstation Plus member) allowed to be annoyed with the “Available to all Playstation Plus members” line.

If you can watch it in the UK they do a REALLY bad job of helping you find it.

But I hope it’s great and that one day I’ll be allowed to see it.

I can’t wait to see your character! That show is definitely unique and has a great cast so far. You are going to kill! I wonder if you will be a bad guy cause you are awesome as one!! Good guys tend to last longer though… I was surprised and elated to see you on Dark Matter. That show is another great one out there!

Are you going to do a gruff Christian Bale Batman voice like Noah Taylor and the amazingly-named Sharlto did? Make sure to lubricate your throat regularly! I just finished binge-watching the show today, and I didn’t mind it. The special effects were not particularly special and the directing frequently left me wondering what everyone was emoting about, but the storyline is the thing I look for and it was pretty good. Definitely has room to Grow The Beard in season two.

Congrats! I’m really looking forward to seeing you in this!

Can I just say I kinda wish you were joining the cast of the new MST3K, too? It’s the first thing I thought when I heard Felicia Day was going to play a Mad, that the only thing that would make the news better would be if Evil Wil Wheaton made an appearance on the show beside her. (Also, I hope to see more of you on Dark Matter, which turned out to be some pretty awesome SciFi.)
