Good morning, everyone.
Boy, I’m still getting used to the new Moveable Type interface. It’s crazy. Cool, but crazy.
I just have a few announcements this morning:
1. Cake is playing a live concert on the internet, today. It starts at 11AM PST, which means I’ll miss most of it, because I’ll be on an audition.
2. I wrote another story for BBSpot a few weeks ago, and completely forgot to post about it here.
3. I saw this really cool story all about the history of video games, from 1889 to the present, at Gamespot.
4. I have some very exciting and fairly major news about some live shows that you can see me in, provided you’re in Los Angeles. I’ll make the announcement in the next few days.
5. Have you checked out the new crap^H^H^H^H cool stuff I added to the stores, just for Valentine’s day? Can you think of a better way to tell your sweetie you love her than with a WFS box of candy? Mmmm…Classy!
Har.
6. I got an email over the weekend, that I am a pre-finalist for several Bloggies

Man…. Wil for $253.49 you better put a decent sack lunch of a PBJ sandwitch and a Bananna in the box and Fill the thermos with Soup before you mail it off.
It’ll be all moldy.. gross.
OMFG!!! I actually get to comment on something here! I’ve been wondering for a long time (maybe a month or so) if it was even possible to comment on stuff in Wil’s weblog.
Or is it just that he rarely turns on comments?
Anyway, I feel much better now.
Hi, Wil! I never hated Wesley. I’m too old (44), and I was more concerned with Deanna and Beverly anyway.
All very cool. Good Luck on your audition.
I wish I lived near L.A. Damnit.
Think twice about wishing you lived near L.A. It’s a town filled with deceit, trickery, and mind pollution…
Who do you think nominated you for all that stuff?
Me, of course. But only after I nominated me.
You see where you rank to the cheese?
Much, much farking higher, apparently.
That’s it.
Everyone read the cheese! Seriously. It’s cleverly disguised as UnrealisticExpectations.com.
Cheese.
Wil! Sounds like you have an exciting day, well I also thought Wesley was cool and didn’t understand why people had something against him. Must be a Star Trek thing. Anyway have fun…stay sarcastic lol
>> It’ll be all moldy.. gross.
Yes.
But it will bear official mold spores cultivated from the kitchen of Wil Wheaton and nurtured upon the banana purchased at the Safeway not three miles away from the home of Wil Wheaton.
That’s called added value.
Wil,
Whattup with this non-resizeable pop-up window? I got me this big-ass monitor here and your tiny window refuses to take advantage of the elbow room available in Virtual Big Sky Country.
Free the window!
Free the window!
Lose this…
width=480,height=480
OMG!!!! I didnt know you could even comment on what is being said, how cool is this.
I love the web site it is just so much fun to read, I reckon we’d get on if we ever met you seam to have the same sence of hummor I do.
As for that web site (yatta) thing, I have never laughed so hard in my life. I had people come into me room thinking I was having yet another asthma attack, and when they watched it, they laughed to.
How do you start your own web site and stuff? I really ought to learn one day, especially since I was given this free computer.
What do you think about england?
$20.02 in Bloggies prize money. The politicing for votes will be intense. You need some of those little candy “message” hearts in the store. “WFS LUVS U”
yay! spudnuts is back!
Good Luck on the audition! Congrats on the site!

Mould is one of those rare things that goes from being yucky to being impressively wonderous – if you leave it long enough, that is. There’s something very cool about having fluffy bits growing out of the top of your coffee mug.
Or maybe not; still, when you forget about that half empty mug you left behind a server cabinet you have to find the good points in the situation.
Some moulds are also way cool – like slime moulds. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/sci/tech/newsid_944000/944790.stm
BTW, Mozilla lets me resize this ‘ere window. Shame the text entry box doesn’t follow (damn COLS for being a required attribute, you’d need to muck about with JavaScript to make it dynamic…), but everything else does. Tum-te-tum.
Candy hearts… best ones I’ve seen this year are by Despair Inc (who also do wonderful demotivational calendars). See http://www.despair.com/bittersweets.html
Thank you SO MUCH for the heads up on the Cake webcast! I loooooove Cake.
Quick tip for those fighting with the non-resizable window: rather than clicking on the ‘Comments (x)’ link, click on the time the post was made. That’ll bring up a normal window with the post, the comments, and a comment entry box at the bottom.
Ah, the joys of a new blog system…going through the same growing pains myself. ‘Course, I don’t have the umpteen millions of readers that Uncle Willie does…the jury’s still out on whether that’s good or bad. 😉
Oh – and good luck on the audition, Wil! Guess you just can’t have your Cake and hear it to, huh?
Um…or…something like that.
good luck at the audition mr. broccoli.
Wow, the ability to comment!
I doubt that being a prefinalist for the Bloggies is like being a pre-selected for Ed MacMahon, ’cause your page rocks.
I wish that I could send WFS some of those Valentine’s chocolates. He’s so dreamy.
Good luck on the audition!
(I always thought that everyone loved Wesley, I know I did.)
Spudnuts is right about the pop-up window. Better yet, display the comments normally instead of in a new window. I have to toggle off my pop-up-buster each time I want to read the comments.
Resizeable (relative, via CCS’s “em” designation) text would also be a godsend. Look at your page in IE and use CTRL-mouse wheel. Some of your text is at a fixed size, while other text is resizeable. Bah, give users back the control they deserve.
Spudnuts *and* comments are back? Can this possibly be true?
Good luck on the audition today, Wil.
I never knew that video games harkened back to the 1889! Another item to add to by useless knowledge collection.
And by the way, the winner of the bloggie of the year, with his(or her) prize money of 2,002 cents, will be required to buy lunch for the rest of the winners.
And, because of the mold controversy, may I suggest granola bar and a cheezy snack?
Cheezy snack will never be moldy anyways, since it be mostly oil in the first place.
How do you feel about cheeze that’s not made out of real cheese, Roughy? Do you feel violated?
>Spudnuts *and* comments are back? Can this possibly be true?
Not to mention Roughy and JSc.
Goodbye work getting done, hello all, it’s good to be back.
Shiggeti Shiggeti Shwa.
Welcome back, comments! Nice job converting to MT, but you might want to put in some l/r margins for the middle section which currently runs flush up against the light purple… and some bolding maybe on the date/entry titles?
Mucho mojo on the audition…
everyone must go to SomethingAwful right now and read all about the exciting new contest!!!
we should all participate and curry favor with wil by submitting entries with him in it! >:)
oh and YAY! da comments is back up!
For a really good history of the video game… get The First Quarter..
Fascinating read.
Hey Wil,
thanks for pointing out the Cake concert. it was pretty good. The headphones went to a lady who listened to “The Distance” while giving birth. Yeah.
Anyone else watch it?
–Sean
ROFLMAO!!! hehe… ok, maybe it wasn’t that funny… but the story at BBSpot was funny… clever, even. I enjoyed way much. :~)
Bloggies… hehe… Hope you win… Very cool that you are a pre-finalist. Good luck on it.
Also good luck going on the audition!! hehe… I’m still on this ST:TNG kick… was a marathon on yesterday on TNN… I watched Lwaxana Troi becoming “human” in a way. Unnerving, really.
Now, I’m off to Unrealistic Expectations for some cheese, or something. Bye.
Wil, glad you got my email about the Bloggies. Pretty exciting, huh? You can bet I’ll be making sure you get into the actual finalists list.
Wait…the OJ thing is fiction?!?!
Good luck on the audition, Wil. We’ll send major vibes towards the left coast!
Must add a Twinkie to that lunchbox. No worries about mold there.
Sooo glad comments are back on. Missed ’em lots.
Cake concert was good. How was the audition?
Good luck with pilot season. How will the season impact your writing?

Now I have the image of little blue-gray bits floating around the top of a coffee mug in my head. Lovely. I wish I lived near L.A. too, I freakin’ (farking?) loved it when I was there!! Hope the audition turns out as you want it to turn out, Wil.
Whoa, this site works again. Sweet.
Wil is cool.
Umm..
And stuff.
Is everyone spending their Tuesday afternoon the same way I am…
Listening to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida while eating waffles?

Way off reply topic – someone today pointed out that Dr. King’s dream was not that his children could play in a yard that was as big as mine, or with toys that were as expensive as the ones my children have, or in a house that is as nice as my house. He wanted our children to play TOGETHER.
I want them to play together too. No matter what kind of neighborhood we live in.
Wow. I didn’t think SpudlyNutters would be back. So nice to have him back.
The cheese hates the spudnuts and his damned funny self. The cheese is envious…and no one likes green chizzeez, now, do they?
No, they do not.
Rob Matsusioaghasdhaghsgshita is a friend of the cheese, even though the cheese cannot spell or say his name.
Same for this “jsc” character (read ‘jisc’).
Cheese.
D’oh, I should really read this Blog twice a day… I would have loved watching the Cake concert…
Thanks for the comments feature…
Good luck with the audition and the millions more that will be coming your way. I can’t imagine that anyone would let you have a minute to yourself if there was any chance of working with you. I didn’t always like Wes. Like a brother, he had good points, bad points and really bad days with the cosmic bullseye focused on him. I was just jealous that no matter what the universe dished, Wes dished back. Somehow, when I dish back, the cheesecake lands upside down on the floor near the cat’s bowl.
If you can manage it, the boys should see all the cool stuff in the cosmos that is happening in February. The planets are gonna dance through the whole month. Sit under the stars and know that you’re sitting with friends.
Thanks to Laura for the resizeable window tip.
.. and why were we seeing pix of your bathroom? 🙂
Nice site, Wil. Good to be able to see comments from
other people who read here every day. I get to
see what kind of company I keep even when I can’t
see them..
Comments are Back!! Good luck tonight and wanted to tell you, Love the pic of you and your wife.
I don’t know…something about advertising one’s website on anothers blog comments doesn’t sit right with me. I tend to not visit sites that do this. Rather, if the comment is interesting and intelligent, I read the poster’s profile and go from there. Like the guy who says “go to my show and I’ll go to yours”. Something seems really wrong with that. I feel the same about someone sneaking in a question to the blogger in hopes he picks you out of the crowd. The farkers are approaching fast;since I’m not a part of that exclusive “clique”, it’s back to the shadows for me.
Hey Wil,
I hope the audition went well, man!
How wierd is this. I work with a guy, whose wife went to school with the wife of Sean Astin. Just, what, last week…Wil had the article heaping praise upon Lord of the Rings (duely derserving said praise, of course) and until then, it never even dawned on me that Wil knew him.
It’s kinda like that “7 degrees of Kevin Bacon” or whatever….wierd.
Y’know as they say…
Don’t make fun of Nerds b/c they rule the world! 🙂
I think whoever made fun of Wil Wheaton b/c of his character was obviously closed minded. I mean sheesh those people who hate “Wesley”…uh..if they still hate Wesley today and hate Wil because of it, they need to get a life. It was only a TV show. Y’know?
I love reading Wil’s logs b/c they are interesting!!
I actually liked Wesley…and I liked Troi too. I found the empath thing pretty cool. But there is nothing wrong with intelligence. I can’t stand “Seven of Nine” and “T’Pol”…I would find em’ MORE annoying then Wesley.
All those two are on Star Trek nowadays is Eyecandy. I talked to some people at Startrek.com chat (yea I went in and felt like an adult…I was above the age 14!) and they commented, “who cares about the females in Star Trek?” and we wonder why these poor 14 year boys have no life then to sit on a computer in their basement (if they have one) and insult others on a chat. That is SO uncool!
I just think if Star Trek is about equality why haven’t we tackled the equality of seeing Star Trek fans male and female actually get along w/o arguing?
Anyway sorry for the rambling! :/
Wil, “Break a leg” on the audition! 😀
BTW, my mom went to high school with Brent Spiner (Data). (my family knows Spiner’s family)
In fact he’ll be in town in 3 weeks for a award ceremony for Tommy Schlamme!
I am glad to see you and your family are doing well!!
I love the up close and personal approach to actors no matter if people disliked your character, that’s over and done with and some people need to get on with thier lives then worry about a character that is JUST fictional…y’know?
Geesh!
I love to meet and greet actors! Too bad hardly no conventions come down this way tho. (Texas)…so I am pretty much “SOL” -Sh** out of luck- on the con circuit!
Okay okay I’ll shut up…but good to see your well Wil and keep up the great work!
Once again… G’luck on anything you set out to do!
Break a leg/Merde a la treizieme force! Let us know for what and when when you can! Have really enjoyed the site!
