I’m sitting at work, decompressing from the infuriating 100 minute commute (to cover the vast distance of 27 miles — thank you Los Angeles for your oh-so-useful mass transit system that is currently useless to me).
I’m supposed to be writing for my show, but, seriously, I’m so dang frustrated from the drive, that I’m taking a few minutes for myself to catch my breath and settle down.
I gotta stop drinking coffee when I drive, too…and I shouldn’t listen to democracy now. It just gets me all riled up.
Couple of things: I really enjoyed reading the trash-talking and back-slapping that went on in the last two posts. I’m happy to see that there are other people around who know what and what not to take too seriously…and if you think I got worked up about hockey, just you wait until baseball season starts. I’m calling out all the Giant fans right now. Now that I think of it, wouldn’t it be cool to do a WWDN fantasy baseball league, at Yahoo? I’ve played in those the last two seasons, and it’s really really fun. I’ll add that to the TODO list.
Drew, from FARK, who has become a sort-of friend of mine, is doing this really cool thing, that you should all check out.
If you live in or near the City of Angels, and you enjoy your old pal Wil Wheaton, and you enjoy the live theatre, you can come and see the two combined, starting in two weeks, because my friend Keith and I are kicking off a whole new season of the J.Keith vanStraaten show!! I’m really, really excited about this season, and I sure hope that lots of WWDN readers will come out, see the funny, and then introduce themselves after the show. Unless, of course, you’re a freakin’ weirdo. Then I’d prefer you go see shows at The Groundlings.
Heh.
Ahh…I feel much better now, thanks to the cathartic process of writing, and the soothing sounds of Catherine Wheel, who give us this entry’s title.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Damn this traffic jam, but where else would i listen to certain radio shows?
Erbo,
I hear ya on the paycheck. I hear ya about the parking lot on the Boulder Turnpike.
When we lived in Denver we had a project going on that required us to go down to a video production house in the tech center. Only once did we ever ask for time during the day — the drive always seemed to happen at the same time as some major pileup at south I-25. After that, we’d take after-hours time when the traffic wasn’t so bad.
Telecommuting isn’t too bad, once I got used to it. Sometimes it feels too easy, other days it’s hard to get motivated. One thing about a commute is that when you finally get to work, you know you’re at work.
I kinda miss the wide-open skies around Denver. Here in Mass. we live out in the country, but there are these danged trees all over the place.

My ten minute commute every morning kills me. Traffic in this town sucks to high hell. I bet it has something to do with the Al Quaeda Network.
LA traffic is insane, isn’t it? I am glad that I walk to work. I did the Blue Bus commute for a while and it drove me insane, but it was better than driving myself.
You’re an SF Giants fan? I knew you were cool. (Well I know that you are anyway since you actually care about issues and aren’t Hollywood plastic, but now you are even cooler.)
I say we leave Drew until he becomes somebody’s bitch.
I think that it’s really shitty for Wil to not update his site everyday.
Bitch is a bad word.
Coming soon to a ‘blog near you.
Hey, Devon, Wil’s got a life, you know. He has a regular job, plus acting and auditions, and a wife and two kids. Yet he still manages to come here and entertain us *almost* every day. I agree that it’s a bit disappointing to come back and find nothing’s changed, but there’s no need to get nasty about it. Why not go to the Soapbox and check out the WWDN drinking game? ๐
This is my good bye to Spud since he’s leaving us for whatever exists outside of this website.
I loved B5.
bwahahaa…
Hey T’Sai Amanda, I understand that he’s busy. But let’s not pretend that none of the rest of us are either. I just want him to write everyday, at least once. For someone who has a blog, and especially a blog that has won awards I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
Anyway. I wasn’t being nasty. I want Wil to write more because I love his site and what he says.
The Yankees will rule again this season (especially with Giambi), and i’m totally down for destroying anyone in fantasy baseball. I won my league last season, and I can do it agian.
…too far down, too late to make a difference, but ah well…
Two things:
1. Los Gigantes de San Fransicso are now, and will always be, a class act compared to Chavez Ravine dwelling swine.
2. I gotta say that Brazilian music will make any commute better. Actually, you may look forward to the commute after listening to some Joao Gilberto or Cetano Veloso. Give the Putamayo label’s disc “Brasileiro” a try and see what that does for you next time you are in traffic. Trust me. This music heals even the most bruised souls of traffic.
Peace.
Used to have a 2 hour commute each way into NYC. Changed jobs to The Island years ago and now it is 11 miles and twenty minutes. Very reasonable.
As for baseball season, THANK GOD (I am not religious but I still thank it anyway) it is upon us. Fantasy baseball rules!!! Here come the Mets again this year, the second best team money can buy. (Unfortunately the hated Skankees are still #1)
I wasn’t exactly looking for a reason to watch, but I’d do anything for a Catherine Wheel fan!
All CW fans should hit this site -> http://www.cwlivearchive.net
Commuting can be a pleasure if The Wheel is on.
Peace…….doc
