I just got the official announcement from Powell’s . . .
Turns out that WWdN readers have sent Dancing Barefoot to the top of the Literature and Sci-Fi charts!!!
And, as if that wasn’t exciting enough . . . because of you guys, Powell’s is completely sold out!!
Now, the great thing is, Powell’s is a member of the Booksense network of Independent bookstores, and they will report this great sales information to other Booksense members. This significantly increases the odds of other Booksense members carrying my book, or having me come to their stores for signings.
Dancing Barefoot would not exist without my lame website. My lame website would not exist without the people who read it . . . and the sales of Dancing Barefoot would be nothing without your support.
So please accept this enormous thank you, from the bottom of my geeky heart. 🙂

i read your book and thought it was brilliant. as a fellow writer, this sort of material is missing from the mainstream publishing world. let’s hope that some of the big houses smarten up and help promote it to a much larger audiences – and i dont mean trekkies (bleh). next to zenvirus.com this is my favourite site.
Congrats on setlling your book out. I’m looking forward to grabbing a copy of your book with the next printing… in the mean time… my favorite hockey team (NJ) kicked the bejeesus out of your fav hockey team last night 4-0. And we’re STILL in second place in the Atlantic.
Have a happy turkey day.
I’m still waiting for a copy for myself. I have it on order from B Dalton. They said it will take a while but they could get it. I think I will be waiting for some time.
I am feeling pretty lucky then: I received my copy of Dancing Barefoot yesterday. I ordered it from Powell’s.
Congratulations!!
Jessica
You have an awesome website and you’re an awesome person. Congratulations!!!
WILL! SHAME ON YOU! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOUR WRITING COULDN’T STAND ON IT’S OWN?! YOU WRITE A GOOD BLOG AND YOUR PUBLICATION MUST OF COURSE FOLLOW SUIT.
QUIT KNOCKING YOUR WRITING ABILITIES!
Fantastic! And my order helped to sell out at Powells so that pretty darn cool!
Whohoooooooo!!!! youda’man!!!!! I told you!
You’re welcome. It has been a pleasure to read the site and the book.

I always knew you were a bundle of talent Wil, good luck and happy turkey day tomarrow!!
Hey that’s great Wil! Congratulations!
I love the book (and the site of course) and the most shocking thing is, my husband loves the book! This man will NOT read a book that doesn’t have computer languages all over it, but I told him he should read your book and he really enjoyed it!
So I should be thanking you 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
I really loved your book! Too bad it was really short…I hope you’ll be done with your new book soon.
I bought one of the last copies from Powell’s… maybe even the last! According to Amazon, there was 1 new and 1 used available and I bought the new one (which Amazon sells directly from Powell’s). This was at around 7PM EST yesterday. Weird.
Well, your lame book light not exist without your lame web site, but just as surely, your lame website would not exist without your lame self.
We love ya Wil. Keep up the good work. Oh, and STOP TEASING ME with the JAG excerpts. It’s killing me! I want to read it NNOOOOOOWWW!
Good luck bud.
You deserve all the credit. Sorry to be so sentimental but you have occupied my mind with great thoughts of literature; you deserve the success!
YEAH, WIL! You rock!
Wil Wheaton……..the next Stephen King or Michael Crichton!

Here’s hoping you have some spare copies at Penguicon in April. Introspective literature always piques my interest. I’ll be sure to visit your booth when I can tear myself away from my own little corner of the con.
Wil,
Thank YOU for being a champion for all of us geeks everywhere.
Jessica (or anyone else who might know),
How long did it take for your book to arrive from Powell”s? My copy was shipped on Sunday, and I had it shipped standard USPS. I’m really hoping it will arrive by Friday so that I can take it up to LosCon and maybe get it signed, Wil willing. Do I have a snowball’s chance?
Wil, you make people laugh and cry with you. I think those are qualities of a good writer, so it is no suprise that WWDN readers and the public at large have flocked to buy your book. You make the pages come to life in the readers mind, that Mr. Wil Wheaton is what I think is the greatest reward for a writer. I personally have been to one of your readings in Portland, OR and I was laughing so hard, it felt great! You wrote in my book, “Enjoy the Dance,” and I assure you I did.
YEAH, WIL! You rock!
Wil Wheaton……..the next Stephen King or Michael Crichton!

Woo! and I’m one of ’em!
got it yesterday, started it as bedtime reading, got through most of it during lunch, gonna finish it tonight. (Can’t wait ’til JAG so I can actually read for LONGER THAN TWO DAYS!!!)
In any case, now I’ve got to somehow get a public Wil appearance nearby followed by a me getting there, all before march so I can get the frelling thing signed…
“To my best signed book owner since the last one – Wil Wheaton”
Yep, I snuck in under the wire with one of the last copies as well. Just got it yesterday… and was disappointed at how short it was in that I tore right through it and was left wanting more more more more more. Can’t wait to see Just a Geek, and I will make it my personal mission as an employee of a large bookstore to ensure that we get some copies. (Maybe I’ll make it a bigger mission and try to ensure that lots of stores get some copies. *g* To the mooooooon!)
Thanks for mentioning that Powells had copies still. It inspired me to buy several for Xmas presents. Hope my family appreciates it half as much as I do. Your writing is really special.
Aww, we love you and your geeky heart!
NEVER underestimate the power of geeks in great numbers 😉
And I STILL can’t get it in New Zealand.
Help me. 🙂
Congrats, Wil!
I’m just sorry I didn’t pick up a few extra copies before it sold out.
Here’s to even bigger successes in the coming year!
Got my copy in the post today, and read it sneakily on the train. It’s not really mine, see.. it’s a christmas present…
But shhhhh.. secret..
It’s good tho.. can’t wait for just a geek
You ARE bringing copies to Penguicon, right? ’cause I have all I want from that Gaiman guy.
:)Francine
dammit, I’m all the way down here at 80 where I’ll never get noticed.
And I’m a Powell’s employee.
I work in used books sorting, and let me tell you Wil, your book has not yet appeared, which means people are holding onto them.
Bummer for me; I’m hoping a signed copy comes through so I can snag it!
hey, there’s one o them booksense places just 5 blocks from my house. And I just blew $1.75 there for some Nag Champa.
Wil, you come to this town and I’ll take the day off and camp there. And buy ya a Guinness. I’ll drink something cold and Canadian.
— Drake.
Hey, Wil!
I just double-checked my order from Powell’s and they only sent me 1 of the 2 copies I ordered…
So, Nyeah Nyeah-nyeah Nyeah Nyeah! I got the last one!
Now I have to read it with my wife _before_ I give it to my father-in-law for Christmas!
Thanks again, Wil!
