50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

add it up

  • Uncategorized

Holy crap.
I have an actual Audition tomorrow, for a pilot!
This show sounds hilarious, and right up my alley: It’s about a married couple in their early 30s, and how they reconcile their punk rock past with their pottery barn present.
Funniest thing: I’m not reading for the husband with the punk rock past . . . I’m reading for the part of his new neighbor . . . who is an uptight conservative, whose idea of a good time is discussing the latest mid-sized SUV.
Talk about playing against type!

Sounds great Wil! I’ll be rooting for you. (But personally, nothing can beat the Teen Titans gig.)

it’s alot more fun playing against type than to be some character nearer to your own personality…because you know all the most irritating quirks of that type of person…if you were an uptight conservative you wouldn’t necessarily be able to get to the heart of such a guy.

Best of luck with the audition – and yeah, the against-type bit is amusing. Do you want the part?

  7. Robert W. Leu says:

Could they have found anyone who more embodies the exact opposite of this role? I think not. If anyone can pull it off, though, it’s you sir.
    Break a leg.

Mm…that sounds like it could be really good, or really bad. It’d all depend on the writing.
If you get the role though, I’ll definitely check it out. I may actually have to get cale O_o

I retract my statement in the last posting regarding the notion of your playing a Republican, Wil. It’s not that weird to picture. You’ll be great.

  17. Taurik says:
    4 March, 2004 at 12:48 pm

Good luck dude! Major mojo headed your way!
Just make sure they don’t hide your face behind an article of the set every time you’re on screen, like that *other* wacky neighbor 😉

  18. Glen says:
    4 March, 2004 at 12:53 pm

    Have fun with it, Wil.
Hey, I just saw (night before last on cable here in Australia) a repeat of the Outer Limits story you were in with Robert Patrick and Graham Greene. I thought you were great in that.

  19. Gudlyf says:
    4 March, 2004 at 12:56 pm

Good luck man, although…doesn’t this show sound a heck of a lot like the ill-fated Rock Me Baby? Well, here’s to hoping not!

  20. Stefan Jones says:
    4 March, 2004 at 1:02 pm

It’s ashame there aren’t any conservatives around the net for you to get inspiration from. 🙂

  28. mousepuppy says:
    4 March, 2004 at 1:46 pm

You go, Wil. It’s you,..you do have that kinda cute nerdiness they’ll be looking for. Think Wesley with an MBA.
    Break both legs, dude.

  29. Mellie says:

  33. Beth says:

  34. Eric says:
    4 March, 2004 at 2:22 pm

Rock ON! Wil’s got a pilot audition! Hopefully this translates to more Wheaton on my TV other than reruns of TNG on SpikeTV. Can’t beat that, though, since “The Manly Geek” is on “The Manly Network…”
Oh yeah, have you called Sean yet? Call him, man, call him! The Oscar hype has to be dead by now, and if it isn’t, I’m sure he’d love to hear from and old friend and co-star…

  35. Marie A. says:
    4 March, 2004 at 2:32 pm

Major Mojo for Uncle Willy! I wish you the best of luck. And guess what whether or not they feel you are right for the part, we know you will have tried your best, and we will all be waiting here with smiles to congratulate you for being you!

  36. Kroeme says:
    4 March, 2004 at 2:33 pm

Yippers, Wil, I’m sending all my mojo your way for the audition.
There is no playing against type for great actors, and I’ve seen you do some wonderful acting over the years. You can play a yuppie or a guppie.
    Break a legger…
    Jeff

  37. The Masked Blogger says:
    4 March, 2004 at 2:38 pm

Btw, any copies left of Dancing Barefoot? And are you still autographing them?

  42. Sabrina says:

Most of my male buddies have called themselves “Trekkies” for as long as I can remember. And “back then” I always claimed to be one of them, although it was a well-known secret that I wasn’t. I was just a *huge* Wil Wheaton fan and frankly, Wesley was my only reason for caring about that show, I admit.
A few days ago I saw one of those old Star Trek episodes again and, though I enjoy my (almost) daily visits on your site and your writing talent immensly, I found myself thinking “Gee, I’d really love to see him acting again.”
    My point?!
Well … lots of good luck to you, Wil *beams*!!!!!!
    *hugs from a German fan*

  43. Amber says:

  45. Jonny V says:

    Break a leg, Wil!
I auditioned for a bit part in that Anonymous Rex MOW here in Toronto. Didn’t get beyond the first callback, but it helped me believe that the drought in this city may finally be ending. (ok, getting off topic, I stop now)

  46. Sarah says:
