50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

What an amazing day!
I got up at 5:30 so I could to an East Coast radio interview. The DJs totally “got” me, and seemed very excited about my book, and my website. It went really well, and the day just got better from there.
The convention today was AMAZING. I guess there were about 500 or 700 people there, and I think I saw all of them at least once.
The whole thing is (more or less) wrapped up in . . . a new AudioBlog post!
Now I’m home, and I’m going to watch Futurama with Anne for as long as I can stay awake.
It looks like I’m going to get a little more than 60 minutes tomorrow for my performance, and I may be able to push it to 75 . . . which means I can do material from Barefoot, Geek, and even something . . . unpublished. \m/
Yeah, today totally went to eleven.

And slurm! that’s my favorite episode because he’s like eewww, then keeps drinking, eewww, another drink.
Aren’t you glad I told you my opinion on the matter. I’m sure you’ll put this up on the wall right next to “WOO HOO FIRST POST EVER!”.
I really did enjoy it enough to comment and sound lame.

Woo. Sounds like the con is kicking major ass.
Picked up my copy of Dancing Barefoot today — my boyfriend is flipping through it as I type, he’s been a fan since your Trek days and I’ve intoduced him to the various WWDN blogs (audio and visual) … he thinks you’re looking more and more like Ed Norton as the years progress.
    I think that a compliment. 😉
Have fun at the con tomorrow!

TWO pop culture references that I ACTUALLY GOT!!!
Of course they were way OLD references, in fact they are probably almost as old as you are. Damn. I feel old. Shame on you Wil, you’re not supposed to make us feel old!
Just kidding! Love you, glad you had suck a great day. Hope it gets even better tomorrow!

Awesomeness as always!! I have been lurking on these comments for a while now, but staying quiet but today I just have to tell ya, Mr Wheaton you are a big dose of warm fuzzy after a really crappy day. :o)
Hey, in my world that is a supreme compliment.
I LOVE the Audio Blog. More please! :o)

Dude, congrats on being uberkul (fecking non umlauting keyboard…). I miss ‘Dena. I am jealous that you get to down the dark ambrosia in my favorite town. I moved back to Seattle 2 years ago after 13 years in the Pasadena area. I miss many things there. Next time you are at Lucky B’s tell Adrian behind the bar that geoff said hey…
I really enjoy your writing and your audio blog makes you even more real. I have to say that vicariously experiencing your ups and downs is way gratifying. I mean, I *so* would not want your life. I don’t dig the whole getting paid too much attention to thing. However, in my head it is a different story. Listening to you talk about how cool it felt to have people lined up to see *you*, well, dude. Right? I mean DUDE. That is freaking sweet. And the way you share it makes it feel like they were there to see me. Or maybe at least how I would hope to feel if anyone ever actually wanted to line up to see me. Which they don’t. Because I am not uberkul at all. I am just way digging on the fact that no one knows me and I have a private life.
But yours is fun to peek in on.
Stay up. I only had 2 Guinness tonight (and a boddie’s, and a Hale’s Cream [excellent seattle micro] and, no, wait, I drove home so I guess that was it) (no, wait, I have another can or 3 in the fridge still. damn I love the widgits). Speaking of Guinness, the next time you visit the ‘Rado, tell Johnny the white vampire says hi.
Assuming you frequent the cool places I did in dena. May be wishful thinking but I think you are the kind of guy I’d have bought a pint for any time. Back when I lived in the Crown City….
I’m cut off now. But this was fun. I ramble when I am feeling Irish… Cheers, Wil!

Why, Wheaton? Why pursue this whole acting thing? Egads, boy, you’re just…not…very…good. Watch all those episodes of “Star Trek: TNG” if you don’t believe me. Good God, man, you had less personality and charm on that show than those nonsensical computer boards that the actors punch to do stuff. Let it go! Go to school or something. Get a real job. Jesus. Talk about being unable to let go… Pathetic.
Normally, I delete idiot trolls like this, but it’s been so long since we’ve had someone whose life was pathetic enough to come here and troll . . . it’s kind of quaint.

Rock! An Audblog post! Those are always fun. Sure, they don’t flow quite like your regular entries, but damn are they cool on their own. Good to know the WWdN Audblog isn’t dead. You can tell you had a ball yesterday!
Haven’t read the other comments yet, but I’m sure I’m not the first to say it: Wil, you GOTTA do some East Coast events, buddy. Hopefully, O’Reilly will have you out this way so myself and all your East Coast monkies can come and see our favorite Uncle Willie…
Hope you have fun at the Con today. I haven’t been to a Con since 2002, and that was strictly an Anime convention. I miss the atmosphere, the people, the femdoms… I mean Fandom, sorry… and all of the “going totally dork” that goes along with it. Have at it!
Don’t sweat the JAG deadline, Wil. Just try and relax and let yourself do one of the things you do best: write. If Dancing Barefoot is any good indicator (and I must say it is teh r0x0rz), then JAG is going to be one awesome read! You’ll do fine!

    John
P.S. And I so envy you for your scenes with Ashley Judd. Ensign Lefler must’ve been the hottest number ever to put on a Starfleet uniform!

Awesome to hear a new Audioblog post. Chewy beer rules! All other beer is just posing as alcohol.
I hope you can do a radio interview when you’re down in San Diego. You’d make an splendific guest!

Hey! Thank the audblog god’s nightie! Finally, an audiopost! I am so happy for this. Also, wish I could be there at your convention, but no. Also, I tried to order Dancing Barefoot from Barnes & Noble and they can’t get it for me??? WHy! 🙁 I guess I’m not special enuff! Other than that: I like you and your acting and everything else you do even if it doesn’t all make sense to me. I’d watch any movie you were in! (If it was convenient for me 😉

    Wil,
Just listened to your audiopost. First time I’ve heard your voice since the days of Wesley Crusher.
Your voice has really matured over the years. Hope the rest of the convention is just as exciting for you as the first day.
    Freeman 🙂

Hey Wil, speaking of the Pixies I’ve got a great deal for you. All us Seattleites want you to come to town so we can come gush about how much we adore you (your website, your books, whatever) and you love the Pixies. Well, it was just announced that the Pixies are coming to play at Bumbershoot, Seattle’s big music festival on Labor Day weekend. You should make some sort of plans to come do your book signing that weekend and then join us in the trenches at Bumbershoot to see the Pixies and whoever else is playing. Would love to see you there!

    Wil,
I just listened to my first AudioBlog post (I know, I’m lame). Anyway, that was so freakin’ cool! Now I have to go back and listen to all the others.
I’ve been reading your site for over a year now. Love it. Posted here and there.
I just have to comment on your convention experience today. You sound so surprised at the recognition you are receiving. I feel compelled to say “You ain’t seen nothing yet”
The rest of the world is only catching up to what us WWDN’s already know. You rock.
Just you wait. When JAG goes public.
I’ve noticed a trend….and your time is coming Wheaton. BIG! You’re going to be the one turning down offers instead of “listening to the Voice of Self-Doubt”. Just you wait and see.
Congrats and much mojo for continued success.
    Sharfa

Keep up the Pixies references. Voltron references were the best though. I may not remember what I had for dinner last night, but I can remember the names of all the “Lion Voltron” team and have the toys to prove it.
Wow, a man who likes Guinness,The Pixies, Voltron, The Dead Milkmen and uh…Star Trek:TNG. You are pretty cool.

    nice policy.

…or enabling an invasion of someone’s online privacy. I can’t agree with this. It seems rather extremist. The punishment just does not fit the crime and in a court of law you could be held liable for damages incurred for providing this kind of information.

You know despite what some trolls, like, This moron comes from 68.89.170.73. [Another edit. My bad. -W] truly, I don’t believe he will get what he deserves. I can understand disagreeing, but to actually get down right nasty, is no excuse. The person dosen’t know a good actor when he/she, sees one. There’s no excuse. Simple as that.

  41. Jason says:
    28 March, 2004 at 2:00 am

Elton John rocks. Conventions rock. Guinness rocks, too. You need to come hang on the East Coast, I don’t think my poor truck could make it all the way to Cali for all these uber-fun cons and such. \m/
And that guy totally deserved what he got.
“Inflammatory comments will be deleted, and the offending poster’s IP and e-mail addresses will be displayed.”
    He had fair warning.
Bleh, whatever. Next paycheck I’m preordering “The Dark Tower: Book 6” and “Dancing Barefoot” 😀

  42. William Hung says:

I think Wil is turning into William Shatner. A lifetime spent plugging his books instead of getting real acting work. Egad.

IP addresses are occasionally revealed when someone is a raging asshole. Too many people hide behind the anonymimty of the Internet to act like schoolyard bullies, and if someone’s willing to be a jerk, they’d better be willing to be held accountable for their actions.
However, displaying extended host information was probably an error in judgement on my part, so it’s been edited out.

  45. Tsktsk says:
    28 March, 2004 at 12:33 pm

Removing the host information isn’t going to change anything…the IP still resolves to that place, and that’s all you need to launch an attack on someone.
To post any information at all, and not just let the comment go past you, is an error in judgement.
For someone who belongs to the ACLU and the EFF, that’s not very keeping with their message. Posting their IP is an endangerment to that person’s right to privacy and anonymity. And it’s an affront to free speech when you say, “you can say that, but if you do I’m going to post your information for the world to see and act upon.”

  46. Michele says:
    28 March, 2004 at 8:22 pm

  47. angry penguin says:
    28 March, 2004 at 9:33 pm

To post any information at all, and not just let the comment go past you, is an error in judgement.
I completely disagree. Thee’s no excuse to act like a jerk just because you think that your “protected” from being known. Who’s going to go out and torment this guy for being an ass?
No one. I if you disagree with someone, don’t hide and be a jerk, just say, I disagree and point out why you disagree.
