50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

oscillate wildly

  • Uncategorized

I’m supposed to turn in my JAG manuscript on Friday, and I’m still poking away at the Dancing Barefoot chapter, and I haven’t even gotten to that part when I print it out double-spaced and make all those “red pen” changes that I’d like to make before my editor sees it. Plus, I have been given the honor of writing the foreward foreword (see how I finally spelled that right? \m/ sigh. ) for a Knights of the Dinner Table collection, which I need to turn in tomorrow.
It’s a good thing that I like to be busy, because . . . HOLY CRAP I JUST GOT TWO TEEN TITANS SCRIPTS FOR FRIDAY!!
I’m beyond excited. I get to be Aqualad in a two-part episode! It’s a full-on cliffhanger, even, and one of them is written by Marv Wolfman!
You know, I am the luckiest guy in the world. I wake up next to a beautiful woman who loves me every single day, I have two wonderful stepkids, I get paid to do what I love, and I get to share my good fortune with WWdN readers all over the world — I know for a *fact* that without your support and encouragement over the years, none of this career success would be happening.
When I was a teenager, I’d always sign pictures with the phrase, “Follow your dreams.” How cool is it that I am doing exactly that?!
Now is the time on the website when WE DANCE!

Busting an embarrassingly caucasian move for you here in OK. I’m so glad things are going so well. Teen Titans rules. Aqualad rules. JAG is gonna rule. \m/!

Wil… it’s great that you are so happy. It’s nice to read about someone who is appreciating what they have, not what they “could” have.
    Keep up the great writing!

    Hey Will,
Thought you ought to know that you made Userfriendly’s Iambe’s entry for the day. For your relationship with your stepsons no less! Trust me here on this, never think of yourself as anything less that “the man” for being held to that sort of standard.
Good man, and keep up all the great karma. Kevin

    /me blares Men Without Hats.
We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind
‘Cause your friends don’t dance and if they don’t dance
Well they’re no friends of mine
Say, we can go where we want to, a place that they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
    And we can dance…

    All hail the UberGeek 🙂
You did it, now I’m doing it. The goal is to have my self published comic completed this year. That’s written, drawn, inked, and web’ed by the end of this year. I know it’s a long time frame, but I’m a new Dad and the only “me” time is when everyone else is asleep. I’m 40 and I love my sleep but I’ve got to do this.
When I’m done I’ll send you a copy/link and you can see one ripple your pebble has made.
    Cheers,
    Pablo

wow. I didn’t know Marv Wolfman was involved in the Teen Titans cartoon. Now I’ll have to get Tivo involved in grabbing that show. I was planning on it anyway, becaue Unca Willie was on the show. Those New Teen Titans comics of 20-25 years ago that Wolfman and Perez wrote are seared into my brain. Rock on Aqualad!

Yes, you’re lucky, and smart to realize it, and generous to share it with us.
    So: Thanks!

  39. Alice says:
    31 March, 2004 at 1:21 pm

Right on. I’ve recently reconnected with my personal “flow state” (how about THAT for a lame descriptor?) and it’s mind blowing. I mean, one small vision can manifest like a tidal wave, you know? Gates open, music plays, a feeling vital joy floods the neuro-receptors. It’s like winning the lottery every day.
And I’m saying this to you, two days into breaking up with my mate, whom I love dearly and who loves me just as dearly. We just realized that the work we came together to do has happened and we’ve both grown and changed and now it’s time to part as partners because we can be better support to each other as friends. We need to stop being partners in order to be fully ourselves. Bittersweet? Painful? Hella. But so worth it.
From within the maelstrom of uncertainty, sadness, fear, overwhelm, loss, grief, is this pulsing conga line of What Comes Next. How can we not dance?
Good for you and congratulations. It’s fun and inspiring to keep track of your progress!
    ~A

Hello, at times I envy you, especially when I hear the great things you are doing and how you are. But that feeling on envy is only a fleeting little millisecond of feeling that is soon replaced with a want and need to follow what I want to do and be and do all that I have wanted. Not everyone in theri life can say that they did what they wanted to do. I am glad that you recognize how incredibly lucky you are. Maybe it sounds mellowdramatic as much of this post does, but this website and you make me want to do things that I always dreamed about but never actually considered viable. As Carl Sagan put it “Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.” Sometimes reading this website makes me want to search for that unknown.
    -take care, fiona
