I’ve got a big old Weekend of Just A Geek-ness out in Palm Springs, starting today.
If you’re in the area, and you’d like to drop by and listen to a reading, or get a book signed, here are the details for the trip:
Thursday
7:30 – 9:30 pm : I’ll be in the Peppertree Bookstore booth at the Palm Springs Villagefest, which is apparently set up on N. Palm Canyon Dr. from Baristo Rd. to Amado Rd.
Friday
7:00 pm : This is the Big Night! I’ll be performing some selections from Just A Geek, and signing copies of both my books, at the Peppertree Bookstore (notice the theme? 🙂 which is at 633 N. Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs.
Saturday
3:00 pm : I wrap up my three days of Peppertree Bookstore-sponsored excitement with another signing in their booth at the Home Decorating & Remodeling Show at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

*sigh* All those things ON THE WEST COAST! When are you going to grace us here in the Upper Midwest?
GcB
Yeah, I’m inclined to agree. Upper Midwest, East Coast, all of us want some Geekness out this way…
I’d come see you in Atlanta or Jacksonville.
C.J.
Ya, even though the bible belt is full of idiots who re-elected George W, you still have a shitload of posse people who want to see you out here.
Just curious, but what does being “Just a Geek” have anything to do with decorating or remodeling your home?
Wil I am just curious, aren’t you getting sick of reading your book yet? Don’t get me wrong I would love to hear you speak. I was just wondering what kind of toll this puts on a person?
Oh sure, it’s on the West Coast, but it’s still pretty far if you’re in *northern* CA.
And Ralph, I’d say no, he doesn’t get sick of reading his book. Think of the performer who does a one man show – they perform the same material every night, for weeks or months on end. Same sort of thing. Or anyone in the theater, really, doing the same part every day. The audience, his mood, the traffic on his way over, the weather, lots of things, will all add together to make each performance unique.
home decorating and remodeling show? what’s up with that?
btw, you totally need to hit more of the NW… erm, somewhere close to me? there’s lots of g33ks in Boise, promise.
It would be a hoot to have you come out to the mid-west and sign some books. I am originally from Kansas, so I can understand why you stay away. Have a good trip. I suppose if your already gone then it should be, “I hope your having a good trip”?
I have an abusive use of the English language and should be shot.
Sounds like a fun filled adventure of a schedule!
Can you head up ohh towards the Chicago area???
Sean Astin was here in October for his book, so you know…..:P
man all the fun stuff is happening on the west coast*pouts
LOL!
Well if I did live on the West Coast I’d totally come.
It’s gonna be awesome… wish I could come! Hey, Kerry won Michigan, AND we have corn! What more do you need? ;o)
Have a good time. Next time head over to Albuquerque. It’s easier for me to show up at events if you schedule them closer to my current location. : )
Wil,
Come back to Dallas! Remember that woman at the Comic-Con who called you a “hottie?” Well, her sister was the one dressed as Wonder Woman, and she cuts my hair now. She thought you were a hottie, too. Don’t worry, they’re both taken, but they still think, well, quite highly of you.
north east! NY, not the city, small town…near the fingerlakes…sooner the better
we need you!
btw…Kerry got ALL the north east so this is the place for you.
Hey Wil,
Villagefest is so much fun! Before I moved to Tahoe 4 years ago I lived in Palm Springs. It was definetly a ritual!
Have fun!
3 days in the desert? erm… What about the other 37? (j/k of course) Spread the geek!word, especially to those in need.
How un-fair….I used to live 2 blocks from the Street Fair which runs 51 weeks a year (only on Thanksgiving is the Street Fair not done) I might just have to call a friend and see if they will go get me your autograph!!!! Have fun, you’ll have to tell us all about the WONDERFUL weather they are having down there…..(yesterday was over 71 if I remember correctly)
Personally, you should visit us geeks down in the South.
There are those of us that would love to see ya here!
If you have the time Friday–
My best friend Tish has been two months in Desert Hospital recovering from the car accident that crushed her pelvis and killed Alan, my friend and her husband.
If you have the time to call, she would be under Patricia Lacy or Patricia Halvorsen; she loves the Beatles, good writing, and cutting-edge comics. I can’t get to her myself; it would sure be neat to get her a celebrity phone call.

Wow! You’ve been pretty busy lately. Waiting for your report for those events!
I stumbled across this site and thought the picture looked familiar.
I had no idea you had such an exciting night-life.
I enjoy reading your blog – especially the parts about your multiple careers. I’ve always wondered what it’s like to have written a book and try to sell it, or to audition for a part in a movie.
Sorry. The link I so cleverly tried to post was:

Sigh. I fail.
Ya know I’ve been out to “Cauli-forn-ea” two times in the past four months and both times I missed a book signing 🙁 . Perhaps next time!
Can’t wait for you to come up north to Edmonton,Alberta, Canada…..you must come and see us one day!
Good luck with all your readings Wil. Just put on your invisible “Incredible’s superhero Costume” and feel like the man of steel infront of the audience…..ok lame I know….but the only way I know of how to tell you to gain some confidence in your public speaking….or you could use that old trick of picturing the audience naked or in their undies.
Have a great time
Don’t get burned (literally)

Well, I can tell you that once is not enough of Wil. I saw and talked to Wil in Hollywood when he was at Borders and it was great. Once is not enough. If ANYONE gets an opportunity to see and hear him again, they should take it.
As for the rest of the country, I sympathize with you. Such a big country but only one of Wil. Of course, if you extract the red states, it is a much smaller country!
(OK, kidding)
🙂

I’m with the earlier posters about Atlanta. Come on down to Jesusland and visit the heathen element that so very much want to see you!
Pardon me, but I now have to run from the torch- and pitchfork-carrying mob who want to burn at the stake….
i would go to the book signings and readings if i lived in california
Earlier today I called the Peppertree Bookstore and put in a request for an autograph copy of JAG, they said they’d have Wil sign it tonight and get it into the mail to me on monday *crossing my fingers it gets here before thrusday* shouldn’t be a problem as it IS only 8 hours from Salinas to Palm Springs.

Speaking of you signing books Wil, I guess I’ll have to wait until some point in the future (should we ever cross paths or you find yourself passing through Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) for that pleasure. I just found out that I’ll be … uh … getting you for Christmas. My oh-so-generous software-analyst wife, having visited your website on my recommendation, has quite pleasantly surprised me by ordering both your books as a Christmas present for me. So I’m very much looking forward to that.
Perhaps this could be a new marketing tactic for the holidays, along the lines of: “Give your loved one a Geek for Christmas” or “Surprise your loved one with a Geek under the tree”. :^)
Anyway, I hope your weekend in Palm Springs was an enjoyable success, Wil, and best wishes to you and yours for the future.
I accidentally came across your Blog looking for music clips from Wil Young he he…That was fortunate, your blog is a good read. I was pleasantly surprised that you have written a book. Congratulations! I hope to give it a read soon. Perhaps one day you’ll beable to come up to Vancouver BC for a book reading. Vancouver would love to have you. Good luck on your writing career.
Cheers!
Hey Wil – when are you gonna gitcherself down here to the OC? I bet I can scare up at least 10 people who would see you at a book signing (including my poor husband who’s put up with me having a crush on you and Ewan McGregor for ages). 😉
I would like to put in a kind word for Tampa, FL. I’ve got at least fifteen people I can trick…er, I mean convince to come see you. *cough* December maybe around the 19, it would only be the coolest birthday present ever for me *cough*
I will steal all your jewelry.
Good work.
