Can’t get enough of my sweet, sweet voice? You’re in luck!
(Hrm. That’s supposed to be mildly amusing . . . but it seems more creepy, doesn’t it? Oh well)
Anyway, I did an interview with The Dragon Page and it’s up on their website. You can podcast it, tune in online and listen to the stream, or just grab the damn mp3 file yourself and listen in xmms, or winamp, or whatever audio player you like.
Or not. I’m not the boss of you.
And while you’re there, you should take a second and read the review of Just A Geek by Evo Terra. The most important bit, I think, which I would appreciate everyone who reads my blog spreading around is:
Uber-geek Trek fans looking for the dirty nasties which happened behind-the-scenes of the show are going to be disappointed. There are no tales of late night coke-parties which ended with Dr. Crusher and Councilor Troy bumping uglies, no recitations of the time Picard stuck a flattened tribble on his head and ran around the set saying “I

“…but rather than bottle it up inside or turn to the ever-so-tempting lure of sweet, sweet heroin, he talked about it.”
is a most entertaining endorsement. Your blogging is a gold standard, an example for many. Thank you.
Don’t worry, Wil. I get enough of your sweet, sexy voice whenever I lay down to sleep… Except that I’m lying. Anyways… awesome book, Just A geek, and I’m waiting for the next one.
~Always chased by the Monkey-ninja Pirates,
Maybe if I could hear your sweet voice. Speaking of which, will you come out with an audio version of this book anytime soon? Could use it on a long drive up and down California. Thanks brah!

There’s a formatting error in yr post there Mr.: [Error: Irreparable invalid markup (‘<a ">’) in entry. Owner must fix manually. Raw contents below.]
Feed’s gone all wonky at LiveJournal as a result.
The anchor tag for the podcast link has an extra quote at the end of the URL, which I believe is the source of the parsing error.
no recitations of the time Picard stuck a flattened tribble on his head and ran around the set saying “I’M WILLAM FUCKING SHATNER!”
So, Patrick Stewart paid up, huh? I knew he would.
Shame to lose that chapter, but, what the hell, it can always go in the next book… Unless he pays up again!
Oops.
Turns out I should use the HTML formatting markup highlighting thingy in kate. Fixed it. My bad. 🙂
Wil-
Great review! I’m still trying to decipher the post about Debian. It gives me geek envy as I have no fucking clue what it is you speak of, but it sure sounds cool.
Loved the title of the entry!
May ALL of your dreams come true, Wil !
Completely unrelated to the blog entry (though image of Patrick Stewart, particularly after having seen him in The Master Builder, is very amusing)…
I was having a geek standoff with a someone online. But they trumped all my geek points by having an e-mail from you in their inbox. Please restore us to equal standing. Send me something… ANYTHING.
😉
My first comment on your blog, despite having read it for ages… and I already sound insane. Ah well- life as normal. Anyway- where is ‘this whole section devoted to aspiring actors’ that you promised years ago in your FAQ? HMM??
(Much good it would do me- I’d have to murder my sister and assume her identity to be allowed to work in the US. And I don’t think she’d be too happy about that.)
I’m going to go now- before I scare you. Or even worse, myself.
Hey Wil,
Love the title! I listened to your interview and all I will say is please dont stop blogging. Its so enjoyable for us! We love ya!
I love Just a Geek… I still have to finish reading though. I also loved Dancing Barefoot. You are a great writer.
to Evo Terra:
“Councilor Troy” should be Counselor Troi.
I’m looking forward to reading your book. Hope it’s insteresting…..lol!
Would you buy my lifestory?
the dirty nasty bits are going to be in book #3, I assume.
right?
Well, yay for more of your sweet, sweet voice… erm, yes, it does sound as creepy as one would think. Ah well.
Patrick Stewart and tribbles. Trekkie that I am… I don’t want to know. 😉
YAY! another interview. I will give your sweet, sexy voice a listen in the morning 🙂
and I love the review of your book, I just got done reading it not long ago and I loved it, very wonderful book.
Sweet, sweet voice, eh, Mr. Wil Wheaton??
I wonder just how many of your *other* posse members can boast a copy of the audiobook “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” read by none other than Mr. Wil Wheaton.
Sweet, sweet voice indeed, Wil. It was the only way I could get through Huck Finn, though I learned later that yours was an abridged version. Still, it was awesome, and I still have it around here somewhere! For those who don’t….*efg*:
http://www.netstoreusa.com/fibooks/193/1931056706.shtml (I hope that came out right. I’m only a Level 1 Geek. I’ll need a helluva lot more XP before I can level up!!)
Wil, you also read “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” for the same company, if I’m not mistaken. How old were you when you recorded those? Not that it matters, of course. 🙂
Anyway, I have always loved to listen to you talk. I’m one of those people who has a *thing* about voices (Ron Perlman…Oh. My. God. Finding a copy of “Of Love and Hope”, the poetry he recorded for “Beauty and the Beast” is damn near impossible, even with eBay and other resources!), and you have one of those voices that I really enjoy listening to!
Enough drooling fangoddessness. Your voice is awesome. I don’t know anyone who had bought/played “Ghost Recon 2” yet, but when I do, I’ll have them play while I watch so I can hear your character give orders instead of taking them for once. I just hope he doesn’t die. That would suck.

Hiya, I have 4 gmail invites left, but I tried sending them to the gmailfor troops and it wouldnt let me. Any helpful hints? Thanx
… sweet, sweet voice…
… sweet, sweet heroin…
Was that intentional?
Did I just ruin a joke?
Great review, Wil. I plan on listening to the interview later (I enjoyed your interview at Inside Mac Radio). . . wish I could see your improv work.
Your book was *very* enjoyable, I couldn’t set the book down; your stories filled in so much information while bringing back my own memories of those years growing up (as a TNG junkie, 80’s music lover, and mild music/computer/techno geek). Your candid writing makes you seem like a friend I’ve known for years. It also makes me want to blog (this from someone who has hated journaling in the past).
Thanks for sharing with all of us. We’re all looking forward to your next written work.

(we’re getting 4 to 8 inches of *snow* today!!!!! Yipee!!!)
LOL… That review made me laugh out loud. I love it. So, um… did any of that stuff ever happen? ;o) I’m looking forward to listening to your interview just as soon as I finish cleaning my effing house. Guh… where did all this junk COME from?!
Sooo, when are you going to tell us about the wild times you had with Shannon Dougherty (sp?) providing voices for the mice kids on “The Secret of NIMH”? I searched for NIMH on the website, you never mentioned it. 🙂
I’M william fucking shatner, man.
so i laughed at the “sweet, sweet heroin” part….was i not supposed to?
The MP3 link is not working :,-(
I caught your episode of “THE GAME” on Star Trek..the next generation with Ashley Judd the other night on SpikeTV. It is one of my favorite episodes. I have to admit I did watch the show, because of you and when you left the show I stopped watching it. I caught a few sessions on the conversations website I signed up. I plan to get both books on audio as soon as possible.
Morgan
If anyone managed to snag up the MP3 before the link got “Wil-ified” (same as a Slashdotting or a Farking), could you please, please, please, PRETTY PLEASE find or set up a mirror?!?
I can see it now: Patrick Steward, running around the bridge with the stereotypical roadkill cap, and screaming (in true over-acting form) “I’m… William… Fuckingshatner!” ALMOST as funny as Verne Troyer on The Surreal Life 4…
Hey! I just took this quiz thing on blogthings.com and it said that mine is just like yours.. blog that is. So I’m just here teling you this… You dont like Shatner?!?! what?! hah.. anyways.. Youre kinda cute.
-Becca
Okay, the start was slightly creepy, but whatever. I love your voice (have you ever noticed you say your s in a slight hiss? *yeah, I’m a fangirl so I noticed*) I love the review, you rock and everyone should know it!
Now that’s just not cricket. Bad form to the script kiddie that pulled that little stunt. I smell Banination…
okay will, heres a question. i’ve been dying to read your book and cant get it because i live in a very very far place. now i know youre probably against me getting a pirated copy of it but since i cant get it shipped to my country because of ten kabilllion reasons (none of my own fault and a few of them i’ll happily blame on your government :P), how can i actually get a copy without having a credit card?
Speaking of the book… I picked it up at Barnes & Noble the other day. Now, I walked all over the store looking for it – tried fiction, essays, biographies, tv/films, everywhere I thought it could possibly be. I finally gave in and asked a salesperson, who looked it up and led me over to… the Star Trek books. That was so disappointing to me that they’d file it there. I loved the book though!
Can I comment on an old entry, too?
Oh, just pretend this isn’t here, until I delete it, because I am Zod.
Anyone got a link to the mp3 that actually works? I get a 404 at the moment.
that was cool.
A tad off-topic, but this page is about audio presentations, so…
I’m just now listened to your Gnomedex 4.0 presentation from August 2005. Very touching, seriously. Very humorous. Very thoughtful. Well-delivered.
[Hey, maybe you might have a career as an actor? 🙂 Just kidding, really. Obviously I’m here because I think you’re a good actor and would like to see more of you.]
If you care, one thing I really like about your presentation is how you’ve interwoven your real self (uncomfortable geek [like me]) with your Wesley character (straight-forward, confident-almost-brash). That interplay in the meeting with Shatner was *very* funny.
In the presentation you just mentioned the potty-mouth aspect of the presentation. I’m a 45-year-old (damn, really 46, just turned, I forgot. Getting old sucks. But I digress.) straight guy who swears at least daily and am anything but a prude about swearing. I just didn’t think it added to the presentation.
Thanks for sharing, in the presentation and your blog.
Oh, and how when will you be listing for the note from William Fucking Shatner on eBay???
🙂
