We had our last preview show for ACME A Day In The Life on Saturday night. Previews are scary, because they’re the first time we put our material up for a real audience, but they’re also extremely important. Previews help us figure out what sketches need work, what sketches can be left alone, and what sketches need to be quietly taken behind the shed and told a story about the Rabbit Farm.
In this show, we’ve got a fairly complicated stunt to work out, as well: we’re doing this thing where the whole show takes place in one day, and the same characters show up in more than one sketch, with some incredibly hilarious call backs. We were unsure if the audience would get what we were doing, and worried that even if they did, they may not think it’s as clever and funny as we do. But over both previews it’s worked incredibly well, and I think it’s going to reward audiences who are paying attention.
We open this Saturday night:
WHAT: ACME A Day In The Life
WHERE: Acme Comedy Theatre
135 N. La Brea
Hollywood, CA 90036
(323) 525-0202
WHEN: Saturday, 8 pm.
I was blown away by the number of WWdN readers who came to see Love Machine. I hope you will all come out and see A Day In The Life, too. I promise you won’t regret it.

Consider my rump officially planted in a seat!
Break a leg! If I could get to CA from NC in time (and had the cash), I’d be there.
Nice title. I wish the world was flat like the old days. Transatlanticism is one of the few albums I still enjoy listening to end-to-end.
Hey Wil. My wife and I were watching “Clean Sweep” this past weekend and they were doing the Acme Theater!
It took us a few minutes to figure out that it was the same one you talk about here, and then we were looking every time they panned the audience of the “improv contest” to see if you were there.
They really only did quick shots and pans of the crowd, but we caught a glimpse of a guy in a black ernest borg-9 shirt with your build. Were you hiding up there in the back right?

That’s hilarious. I finished reading your post and finally put two and two together about the Clean Sweep episode. So I’m clicking like mad to comment about it, and somebody just beat me to it. I can’t believe I was oo-ing over the fact that I had seen the place were Wil hangs out before a show.
Sounds like the previews went well. I hope the reviews are just as good.
Break a Leg Wil! Wife and I really liked ‘A day in the Life’. So luck would have it, U2 is coming to town over here, so we cannot do the for sure road trip to see your epic. Nothing but the great goodness to you.

I’m just sorry that it’s not close enough to go to. Best of luck to you! I’m sure you’ll do great!
*gaea*
I, too, am in NC but plan a trip out West soon to visit family and friends. I’ll just have to shoot up to LA while I’m out; hopefully I can catch one of your shows. Best of luck!
I would SO be there if it weren’t for, like, the bajillion miles between Michigan and LA.
Plus I’d have to dig out my “summer clothes” and take the chains off the tires…
Man,This sucks….there is the east coast….there is the west coast…I’m stuck on the south coast.
Your comedy group needs to take a road trip, come see Mardi Gras next year(or sooner, Jazz Fest is cooming soon).
If it is good luck to say break a leg….why don’t you break it all the way off!
Enjoy
Wish I could be there. Here’s hoping opening night goes spectacularly well.
Hope your show goes well. Glad the audience is “getting” it.
Best of luck to you Wil, not that you’ll need it. I wish I could be there, but since I live all the way down in Australia there’s no chance.
