WWdN: The Fundraiser was an unexpectedly huge success. I think I may have to return some orders to people, because I’m pretty sure I completely sold out of Just A Geeks, and orders kept coming in, even after I updated.
I have set aside Saturday morning to sign all the books, and Anne has set aside Saturday afternoon to help me pack and ship them, so hopefully those of you who ordered books will have them within a couple of weeks.
A huge thank you from me and my family to everyone who participated. I hope you enjoy Just A Geek, and I’m interested in your feedback once you’ve finished it.

That’s so great for you guys! I wish I could have gotten one, but I can’t possibly be sad that there weren’t any left by the time I got to order…Yay!
GRATZ!!!!! Wish I could have picked one up too!
Take care,
Michael
Yea! im glad that your fans were able to help out. I wish i could have purchased a copy. Congrats!
mels
Man, am I glad I ordered early! And if I get knocked out, I’ll just finally break down and hit up Amazon
Thoughts on the book, eh? Wanna trade opionions? Completely off the record, of course – no endorcements or anything like that… I’m just anxious for feedback from people that have read my book that don’t know me personally…
Either way I look forward to reading it!
wish i hadn’t missed out… it’s not like i had the $50 though. i’m so glad it will help with your kitties vet bills though. that is one of the hardest part about losing an pet. hang in there, wil, anne and boys.
Right on with your right on. Right on to the people who sponsored this by putting all their scratch into a good product and thoughtful idea for a great cause. Yeah, we all care. I’m just prett damn happ to see that you’ve got such a devoted fanbase.
Hmmm now we come to the question of what was considered early :o) I ordered as soon as I saw it and I have a feeling that was within 15 minutes of it being posted, but did 200 people order in the first 10 minutes.
How exciting it is like a competition now :o) Did I get the prize or a refund. The anticipation is killing me :o)
I’ve witten my reactions to Just A Geek in my entry for the League of Extraordinary Gentlereaders
Will you be selling signed copies of Barefoot Dancing too?
I still need to read/own that one.
I think that there should be at least a “Round 2” of this fundraiser. Why? Because I missed out! And from now on, it’s not the Universe, it’s the MEniverse, because it’s all about ME!
(OK, the deer rifle is back in the cabinet and I’ve stopped looking for bell towers: Congrats on the success on the WWdN Fundraiser. I think though, that a SECOND round would sell out almost as fast. I can see the headline now: “Wil Wheaton Sells Out!”)
i hope this qualifies as “interest” enough for you to put up some dancing barefoot copies!!
: )
Unfortunately, your timing was a little sucky for me… I just bought JAG and DB about a month and a half ago. I would have paid to get MY copies signed, as I imagine you’re never going to make it to Jacksonville, FL, but you didn’t offer that. Probably waaay too much of a hassle.
Should you need it though, you at least have a market of one willing to pay for that.
Way to go! I didn’t know about your fundraiser until now (day late, dollar short, yadayadayada), and even though there aren’t any books left (sniff), I’d still like to contribute. I just lost my sweet old man (cat, Jody, 18 years old), and know too well what vet bills are like! Do you have an account set up for that?
Debi
Wil,
Is it ok for you to post it to Ireland? If its you can’t, keep the money in any case. No worries either way.
Noel
I can’t wait…I’m keeping one eyeball on the mailbox!
even though I already own JaG, I had planned on ordering another to help out and get the ‘graph, but I’m glad to see that many ppl who hadn’t gotten the book already had an opportunity to do so. I just picked my two girls, Emily and Okay, up from the vet yesterday (emily is a few months old and was getting fixed, okay is a stray that adopted us and is getting ready to crank out a litter of kittens) so I know the impact vet bills can have.
Wil, I’d be happy to ship my copy of JAG (and DB) to you and back if it would help out the kitty fund, This way, at least your autograph would make it out to the east coast! (seriously, does a day go by that one of us out-easters doesn’t needle you about that?)
If I was one of the fortunate ones to get an order in on time–I placed 2 separate orders–I’ll give one up if it’ll help someone else get a copy. One was a gift for someone else, so if you run across 2 orders for ThmprWrx or Thumper or K.A. Thompson, that’s them…I’ll only need the one that should be signed to Jaq. (Does that make *any* sense??? It did in my head…)
*Crosses fingers and waits impatiently*
Great to hear that you sold out all your books! I was checking back hoping to get one. Are you going to offering copies of Dancing Barefoot?
hi wil! I have just recently finished JAG, and i couldn’t put it down. Its bizzarre, because having read all your blogs and stuff, and then both Dancing Barefoot and JAG, i feel like i know you, but at the same time i know that we read about you is only really about 5/10% of YOU. Does that make sense? Anyway, I loved JAG, it was funny, sad, heartwarming, and i’m sure at one point during your trip to the Star Trek Experience, it made me cry! I loved TNG when you were in it…my sister and I used to look forward to watching it every week! so to read what it was like from your point of view was wonderful! anyway…easy essay….i’ll shut up now!
So glad to hear that the fundraising went well, I wanted a signed copy, but you were sold out by the time i got there! so you’ll just have to come over the UK to do a book signing….!
take care wil,
hope all’s well
Rach
I so enjoy reading your blog, you are a talented writer. I was glad to hear that your fundraiser went well. I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss and you have my sympathy and understanding. Last night I had to put my good friend, Marti, to sleep. He was a great cat and I loved him a lot. He has been with me for 15 years. I owned both his mother and father and he was born under my bed. Yesterday, just as I was there in the beginning, I held him at the end. It hurts so much, but it was the right thing to do.
Thank you for your eulogy.
Terri
Wil,
That’s great that you sold out!!! I fear I am one of the “refund” people, which will truly suck because living in North Carolina, I stand NO CHANCE of ever actually seeing you live to get an autograph. So, if I miss out on the book, an autographed ANYTHING is cool with me. T-shirt, notecard, picture. I don’t care. Incidentally, I signed up for a lame ass Wil Wheaton fan club thing when I was maybe 14 years old and received a lame ass fake signature on a picture. That sucked, but I didn’t hold it against you! ha ha! So if the books run out, consider T-shirts or something? Thanks!
Sandra
I opened my first birthday present this morning and I was sure it was going to be your book. *phew!* It was just the first season of Pretender instead (woohoo! ;). Now I’m pretty sure I won’t have ordered a -second- copy of your book by contributing to the fundraiser.
So, 100 books at $50 each, that’s $5000! Not a bad dent in the vet bill, huh? If you could get 100 Dancing Barefoot and let’s see.. retail is $15 so you could probably get 100 copies for about $10 each. Resell them at $30 each signed and that should cover the rest!
Wow! That’s awesome! Congrats on raising so much!
I certainly understand the vet bills. We are trying to raise money right now to get 6 new rescue kitties vaccinated and fixed. I wish my fundraisers were half as successful! =^..^=
Congratulations on the fund raiser! Hope I’m not one of those who doesn’t get a book! I was MORE than happy to help out–I love da kitties!
