50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

shuffle up . . .

  • Uncategorized

Big news coming to this space, in the next 24 hours.
Update: . . . and deal.
This is so awesome, and I’m so excited, I don’t know where to begin. I’ll have to write more about it tomorrow, though. I’ve been writing without a break for almost twelve hours, and I seriously need to get away from the damn computer.

.. and by the way, while I’m on the first page of posts and there is a rmeote chance you’ll read this, I got into filmmaking because of your performance in Stand By Me, and have been AD on features in LA, written and directed short films, and worked with Weta on Return of the King. You’re an inspiration dude

Ooo, intriguing. Is this for ComicCon? Collectormania? New TV appearance? Impending book release?

Guten Tag! I think that means ‘Good luck’ in German. Or maybe it’s French. Pig Latin, perhaps?

    Wil,
I wish you the best of luck, and would love to come down the to the Rio and say Hi since I work down on the strip here in Vegas.
But if I don’t get to see you, clean house and when that one good hand comes your way, TAKE THE HOUSE!

Someone made mention of waiting in line??? So…should I stand behind the people STILL waiting at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre? ; )WIL… I can’t stress this enough… GET YOUR REST and DON’T Stress yourself back into a relapse! Just like poker, you gotta know when to play and when to wait it out. The last thing you need is to have your body “Fold”. Let Anne be your objective eyes, ears, heart, and soul of you and when she says STOP you should stop.Other than that, Have Fun! May you and Darwin have a great time at WSOP!As for keeping us in suspense about what you are going to do here… That is such a frackin’ “Writer” thing to do to us! Keep up the fun work you silly dipwad! (And I say this with love) – Dusty

  20. RavenJackson says:
    23 June, 2005 at 9:38 pm

A quote from Cardplayer.com from an interview with Gus Hansen [spelling is incorrect]:
    – how tight will u play on day 1 of the main event? would you fold kk to a satallite qualifer early on?
    Reply by Gus Hansen:
    – I have NEVER folded KK before the flop and dont intend to start right now

  21. Alex says:
    23 June, 2005 at 9:58 pm

That’s tight Wil! I just picked up poker a few weeks ago. Still a complete n00b, I enjoy it.

  22. Grey Hodge says:
    23 June, 2005 at 10:16 pm

You know, yes, this is awesome Wil. And despite that fact I really like the way you play, I’ve been reading long enough to know you are a modest and humble guy. Which is good, of course. 🙂 But I think their description of your playing was a little more precise. I saw you on one of those poker shows (complete with Darwin) and PokerStars is right, you’re a not player to be trifled with. Good luck. 🙂

I AM THRILLED FOR YOU WIL!!!
Your skill and insight into the game has lead you to this point. Make the most of it. Enjoy every fucking second. “Use the force young jedi”… “Be the ball”… “Wax on, wax off”…
BUT YOU MUST GET YOUR REST… you don’t want to relapse into Mono again. I had mono when I was 15, and it took me a month to just get to the point of tolerable. As an adult, it will take longer to recover fully. You might feel better now, but do not take advantage of this. TAKE IT EASY UNTIL JULY, then turn on your poker power and show them all what you are made of.
And don’t forget about us! We want to hear all about it. Audio blog it for us if nothing else.
    Kick ass Wil,
    🙂 Kelly

Congratulations. You’ll have to compete against my old boss’ boss’ boss at some point — he won the Omaha High-Low event recently.
May I request that you make an effort to popularize the name “Strong Bad” for the hand consisting of two deuces.

Congratulations! [insert witty poker comment here] I’m not much up on the game, and can’t really understand over half of what you write about it, but every entry you’ve written on poker is so darn enthusiastic that I just had to pat you on the back! btw: you look totally badass in those shades. 😀 Have fun! (I know you will!)

    Gotta love it!
Don’t know much about poker, but I went out to the Onion to check your article and I have to say I love the new Onion layout. If folks have not seen it take the time to check it out.
I remember when the Onion was run by a few college drop outs in Madison Wisconsin and was strickly a free local rag.
It is still run by some college drop outs but they have moved into the big time now! Home town boys make good!

  47. Dave Westbay says:

This is way too cool. I am anxiously looking forward to hearing all about it. But like everyone is saying, don’t push yourself too hard, or even get all worked up. REST, relax, stay focused on continuing to recover. That will help your game too, you know. Too much stress can put you on tilt, AND cause a relapse, and we can’t have that!
    Best of luck!

    Holy Carp!!!
You da man. Ever since “Lying in Odessa” I’ve been dying to see you in action. (BTW, as hard as I’ve tried, I’ve never been able to find your episode of the hollywood home game). Now, in a couple of months you’re going to be on every late night poker rerun I tune into.
    Rock On!!!

Great googly moogly! That’s awesome, Wil! Way to go! I only ask that you please, PLEASE regale us with tales of your poker stardom down the road. Your poker stories inspired me to start playing poker more seriously, and as I plow my way through Super System I just keep thinking of how much I love the game now. And it’s ALL YOUR FAULT! 🙂
