50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

shuffle up . . .

  • Uncategorized

Big news coming to this space, in the next 24 hours.
Update: . . . and deal.
This is so awesome, and I’m so excited, I don’t know where to begin. I’ll have to write more about it tomorrow, though. I’ve been writing without a break for almost twelve hours, and I seriously need to get away from the damn computer.

The first words out of my mouth when I read the link’s info were ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod…..
I *love* watching poker on TV — amazing how much luck comes into play sometimes! — and have gotten hooked on the WSOP results the past two years.
I also love your poker stories — extremely entertaining and they’ve given me some insight as to how the game is played, though I don’t play myself. (I am way too easy to read.)
I’ll be sending mucho poker mojo your way — and won’t speak of any hopes for your play so as not to send any bad karma to the proceedings….
Enjoy yourself! Whatever happens, you’ve already made us (your blog-readers) proud.

You joining the PokerStars team is like some hard-to-believe poker blogger circle becoming complete 🙂
You know the poker blogger community stands united behind you!

Okay, very excited and wondering what’s going on. Then I read on and comments galore from poker people who know what’s going on! It looks like you’re going to Vegas to kick ass! I wish it were going to be on t.v. or computer. That would rock. But either way, I’ll be rooting for you!

Wow, a free entry into the main event at the WSOP. A lot of people would love to be in your shoes. Wear them well. Good luck.

  16. CJ says:

FYI, for those interesting in following wil during the event, there are some places to turn…
First, as part of Team PokerStars, poker blogger extraordinaire Brad “Otis” Willis will keep close tabs with his blogging.
Second, Dr. Pauly is doing the best live-blogging of the entire WSOP available anywhere.
Finally, pictures, news and recaps are available from the Poker Prof and company.
The Main Event, in which wil is playing, will be taped by ESPN to be shown on Tuesday nights from 9-11 pm ET over six weeks starting on October 11th. There’s a very good chance wil will get some air time there, especially if he plays the way we know he can. Hopefully he’ll get an episode at the featured table!

That’s so awesome! I can’t wait to see AND read all about it!!!! I love poker, and throwing in a dash of Wil Wheaton makes it that much more enjoyable to watch!

  18. enderFP says:

Hey Wil, congrats! You’ve got my interest in poker piqued and I’m just starting to kinda play a bit. Can’t wait to see and read more of your poker exploits.
In other news, I updated your Wikipedia entry for you just a bit. You know, rearranged things alittle so “child actor” wasn’t the first thing you saw.
“Richard William (Wil) Wheaton III (born July 29, 1972 in Burbank, California) is a writer and father as well as a former child actor. He is best known for his portrayals of Wesley Crusher on the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) and Gordie LaChance in the film Stand By Me.”
Was just messing around on the internets today and as soon as I saw that it said “was a child actor and is now a” I hit the frickin’ edit button.
take care of yourself. Don’t relapse!!!
    Play them cowboys.

Just thought I’d add to the congratulations here.
I watched Wil play in the WPT Championship event at the Bellagio, and talked to several people about his play, including noted poker author Lee Jones (author of “Winning Low Limit Hold ’em”), who also happens to work for PokerStars. I was impressed with his game, as were Lee and others.
You got game, Wil – we’ll all be looking forward to watching you in the main event.
[note that Wil will also be playing in all of the events in the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker, so if you want to see his game, you can – dates will be announced in a few days, but will take place in early September. His player name is – get this – WilWheaton. Creative, no?]

Holy mother of Jehosephat! He’s a-goin’ to the Big One!
God, that rocks hard, Wil. I’ll be looking forward to seeing you on ESPN when they show the 2005 Main Event (about forty-‘leven times over the course of the next year, late at night). Here’s hoping you at least finish in the money!
(Oh, and I like the name “Strong Bad” for the pocket-deuces hand…”Stinkoman” would work just as well, too. “DOUBLE DEUUUUUUCE!”)

    Awe. Some.
That’s great, Wil. Even though I couldn’t follow most of the lingo in your other poker stories, I got enough of the context to be captivated by them. I can’t wait for more! I suppose I should go find a “Poker For Dummies” book or site and learn the terms.
    Have fun!

Wil, you kick ass. Knowing little about poker, I still manage to get keyed up when reading your tales of the table. Your fierce intellect combined with your big heart makes you a rare bird.
The tournament is yet undecided but regardless of the outcome, you are a warrior.
