PokerStars Tournament #11907419, No Limit Hold’em
Buy-In: $20.00/$2.00
9 players
Total Prize Pool: $180.00
Tournament started – 2005/08/29 – 19:09:29 (ET)
Dear Wil Wheaton,
You finished the tournament in 1st place.
A $90.00 award has been credited to your Real Money account.
Congratulations!
Thank you for participating.
I saw that a few WWdN readers dropped in on the game, and gave me some mojo, which included mojo of the Guinness-fueled variety. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the mojo! It was another one of those SNGs where I somehow manage to back into the money, back into heads-up, and turn my 2200 into victory. (That, by the way, is my favorite type! 😉
Some readers have asked me if I could put together a charity tournament to benefit people who have been hit by Katrina. I think it’s a great idea, and I’m working on it.
In the meantime, I’m sure the Red Cross is going to need blood and money, so anyone who can spare one or both should head out and give whatever they can . . . and beware of scam artists who claim to be running fundraisers, and promise to send the money to the Red Cross. Remember what happened post-9/11 and post-tsunami, when evil scammers took advantage of kind-hearted people. You’re much better off contributing to an established organization that you can trust.

I was lurking and watching the end of the tourny. Just wanted to say good job! That was a heck of a play with the K J towards the end. I hope I get to play against you someday. It would be a blast!
Ah! Thanks for reminding me; we have a blood drive on Wednesday at work…they’ve also been having firefighters volunteering for the “Fill the Boot” fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy. I’ve recently added a “dog series” of paintings to my site that I’m selling and donating 10% of sales to Project Hope for the Animals…I tell ya, this fundraising business sure makes you feel all warm and fuzzy…I love it!
Hey Wil,
First of all I want to tell you how sorry I am for not posting on here in a while. I have been reading all of your posts. Seems like every time I start to write, something pops up. I told myself I have to let good ole Wil know I have not kicked the bucket yet. Congrats on all of your tournaments!! I have been cheering for you all the way. Your website beats all the rest. I am going to do all I can to help the victims of that horrible storm and hope every one else will to. My best to you Wil, Anne, and your boys. Stay cool! No, really…….with this crappy heat I am surprised people are not dropping like flies.
Wil-
I know PokerStars does not support the Mac OSX platform, but I thought maybe one (or more) of your readers might know of a creative way for those of us on Macs to watch (or play). Anyone?
In a blatant attempt to exploit your readership, I am going to plug my favorite charity http://www.modestneeds.org . If you visit their website, you can see what they do. They are completely legit, as my sister received an assistance check from them last week.
I use pokerstars with OSX, I run it under VirtualPC. It runs a little slow, but it works.
Also, my wife works for the Red Cross here in Seattle. They need all the help they can get, and money works better than anything else. So thanks in advance for anything that can help.
Wil, if you need help connecting with the American Red Cross, let me know.
i’d join in for a good cause…as for donating blood, i’ve tried repeatedly, and for some reason, they can’t get a vein to come up!
Dude, thanks for putting me onto pokerstars.com. Woo hoo! Not yet a “paying” player but holding my own with the fun money for a bit till I return to my card countin form back in college! 🙂
Give till it hurts people. Even if the hurt requires a big needle in the arm. There’s a cookie and orange juice afterwards. : )

It’s always nice to get back into the money, I was just out of the money 3 times last night… just out of the money and it was quite annoying since each time I got knocked out I was playing smart and the other player rivered me on a piss poor hand.
And definitely help all you can! That storm was a monster, I’m sure all the people affected by it will greatly appreciate any help!
Rock on, Wil.
I agree, give only to established org’s to avoid getting scammed. You can’t get much better (or more reliable) than the Red Cross, so that’s the one I’m giving to… you can give both red (blood) and green ($$) to them, too!
manage to back into the money, back into heads-up, and turn my 2200 into victory.
Does this mean you basically folded into 2nd (not quite… you would have to win a few hands) and won heads up with 2200 against 1130?
What are you doing drinking and playing poker at the same time? Bad, Wil.
And regarding the Red Cross, this may seem a little selfish somehow (or at least it feels selfish), but if you want to make sure that the money you donate goes to hurricaine relief in LA you can write that on your check and they will make sure it is used for that. If you don’t it goes into their general fund and they have the discretion to use it anywhere (which isn’t a bad thing… but if you have another preference they will follow it).
Uh, I’m pretty sure that Wil is saying that the railbirds were Guiness-fueled (Iggy alert?).
Tipping an ale or three during a low limit SNG isn’t the end of the world, -EV wise, IMO anyway. 🙂
Looks like the force was with you this time,Will. But,beware of the dark side!….’Feel, don`t think! It`s like,a finger pointing the way to the moon’….Daryl Lorette
Hey, thanks for reminding me how much fun on-line poker is. In the late 90’s, I played a ton of IRC poker (Google irc poker poki) and played a little on Poker Stars. Never got very good at it and had to give it up for other interests. One can do anything, just not everything. SnGs are tons of fun. Placed in my first one today. Woot! $9.00 net $4.50!
