Like everyone else, I’ve been reading The Interdictor for the last week or so. I’ve even gone so far as to add a live bookmark to Firefox, so I can quickly tell if he’s updated or not.
I have found his insights to be very interesting and often moving, like this paragraph from last night:
It’s funny when you notice the effects of sleep deprivation on yourself. Keeping this journal reminds me of Flowers for Algernon. I catch myself making careless errors every now and then. Silly things like forgetting to grab a flashlight or the right keys. And then there’s the deterioration of physical coordination. I have to go down the stairs more slowly and I make a lot more typos so I’m constantly hitting the backspace while I’m typing. And it’s taking a little longer to process information. The days start to blur too and it hasn’t been two weeks yet. I bet some psychology major could have a field day tracking my psychological state for the last 10 days or so.
His story is amazing. If you’ve got some time, it’s worth heading over to his Live Journal, and reading the archives.

Isn’t it cool how you can find people so interesting. Blogs kick ass for sharing opinions and finding like-minded people.
P.S First comment, FUCK YEAH!
That paragraph sounds like a mind that is desperately tired and is wondering more often than it’s focusing.
I’ve been reading it too, but I’ve learned to avoid reading the comments.
I find it amusing that most of the detractors do so anonymously. I’ve had that happen in my own LJ too. It only goes to show that they know they’re being assholes and don’t have the balls to stand by their own statements.
If I go to the trouble to tell someone what a jerk they are or how wrong they are, then I am going to put something to identify myself by on it. If I’m not willing to own the statement, then I sure as heck shouldn’t be posting it. That goes beyond cowardice.
Heh, I know about ‘anonymous hate commenters,’ MamaSlyth. They suck, especially when you find out they were your ‘best friend’ in real life. That friendship ended messily, I must say.
Wil, I read Dancing Barefoot in my classes yesterday. I was all too sad to be finished with it by the time my third class came around. I love your stories!
Anyway, I’ve been reading a bit of the Interdictor since a person on my friends list on LJ posted a link to it. It is the most insightful blog I’ve seen about the situation those people in Louisiana are going through. My family was one of the lucky ones. My dad swears there was a force field around the house. And my cousin went down to New Orleans this past weekend with his photo crew and saw the damage.
Sorry, I’ve gone a bit off topic. I totally apologize. I’ve been doing that a lot lately.
Much love!

Man, that really is bad, Sangri. I’m glad your family got through this relatively well. My dad was supposed to help recover data from a New Orleans bank, but his company had trouble getting the Shreveport recovery center going, so the Dallas one did it instead.
Oh, and Wil, I appreciate you sharing the information you have on here. Even though I’m not a poker fan and you have good reasons for not posting stories at the moment, I think maintaining this blog is still good karma for you.
