live blogging the WCOOP, event number five

  • Uncategorized

I’m playing in the WCOOP again today, and I’ll be live blogging the action over at CardSquad, for those who are interested. You can also download the PokerStars client and search for player “Wil Wheaton” if you’d like to sweat me from the rail. The tournament begins at 3PM EDT, which is in about six minutes. Eep!

Good luck, Wil. I’m watching you on table 32 right now.
After finishing 4th in one free tourney today, I’m channeling all my poker mojo to you.

I am stunned that I managed to come back and win that SNG. I was getting the absolute worst cards ever.
But it was like that all day. I would flop top pair with a great kicker (QJ, for example) and make big bets, only to get called down all the way by some jackass who rivered the straight against me. Or I’d get in a huge raise with KT, catch a K on the flop, and find out I’m up against KJ. Sheesh.
But it felt pretty good to come back against that guy like that. I was pretty happy when I had TT vs 99, because all day I’ve had the 99.

    Dear Wil,
After reading your site a few months ago, I signed up for Pokerstars and read some Harrington. I watched you play in a few $10 SNGs (XantheKnight) to see how the strategy worked. I spent a long time playing the $5 SNGs with the maniacs, and after being able to consistently win or come second, began playing $10 SNGs. Despite losing horribly at first because I couldn’t keep to the strategy, today I placed in the money for the first time. Anyway, I thought I’d thank you for putting me on to Harrington and for inspiring me with your play. Yay! Thank you.
