50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

the one time i was actually happy to see the ugly grey spacesuit

  • Uncategorized

family_guy_stng.jpg Last night’s season premiere of Family Guy was one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen on television. The Spanish Quagmire, spitting milk on Meg, spitting milk on Meg (again), Brian walking in a little circle outside Lois and Peter’s bedroom, Brian and Peter doing the gameshow bit . . . uhm . . . what else . . . ?
Oh yeah, and seeing Wesley freaking Crusher!! I screamed so loud, it knocked out the power in Los Angeles today. (Sorry about that, Los Angeles. If it makes you feel any better, I had to sit at the intersection of Fletcher and Griffith Park — right by Astro Burger — for almost twenty minutes. And I had to pee.)
The thing that’s awesome, (and unintentional, I’m sure) is that the image here is exactly what it was like when I worked on TNG back in the day: we’re all laughing, having a great time, and Michael Dorn hates his Klingon forehead.
(Enormous thanks to WWdN Reader Aaron D. who sent me the screen cap. And yes, I know the ops and conn consoles are reversed. Don’t point that out, or everyone will know you’re a geek.)

that was a great scene, but then when Patrick Stewart was on American Dad next, i was totally shocked. yes, i laughed incredibly hard at his performance, but it is kinda mentally scarring to hear Captain Picard talk (sing) about how little girls make him feel so good…while wearing said little girl’s pink bathrobe.

Yeah, hearing Patrick Stewart singing Oingo Boingo’s “Little Girls” was utterly priceless. Almost as funny as when they did the G.I. Joe “And knowing is half the battle” bit on Family Guy last season, or the A-ha “Take on Me” video. Seth MacFarlane is a god.

Let me guess, they cut your v/o on the same floor as your scenes in “Nemesis”

Was just introduced to some ubergeekness by a friend of mine:

Yes. Special tiles that let you play Scrabble with LEET words.
And y’all are worried because you noticed they put the consoles on the wrong sides…

Hey Wil. Did you get permission from Fox to use that screen shot? Thought not. I’m telling.

    Hi Wil,
I joined typekey just so I could post on here too. I don’t usually watch Family Guy, but I would have because of Patrick Stewart singing “Little Girls”, but now I am really bummed because you were on there too!
I saw you once at Comic-Con a few years back, wish I’d gone up to ya to say Hi. I will next time!

    first time commenter…
Pin the geek tag on me, as I am faithfully going through the entire series of TNG thanks to Netflix. Even before I read the post by Wil, I saw the cartoon and thought “um.. isn’t he supposed to be on the other side?”… oh yeah. I wear my geek with pride. 🙂
On a side note, I watched an the final episode of season 3 last night (“I am Locutus of Borg”) and Wesley folds a winning hand of poker… good to see his real counterpart is doing better. 🙂

“ugly grey spacesuit” — I’m sorry, does that mean you actually PREFERRED the one with the rainbow stripe over the grey?

I’ve watched every episode of TNG several times and I still have no idea what an “ops” and a “conn” are. Perhaps I was too engrossed in the amazing stories and depth of the characters to notice technical details. However, now that I study the screen shot, I now see they’ve gotten Troi all wrong. They’ve depicted her as an A cup, perhaps a small B, which is not, I believe, in keeping with Gene Roddenberry’s original vision. Of the two discrepancies, this seems the greater.

So, I originally missed the family guy Sunday, because, believe it or not, I was finishing “dancing barefoot.” But when I got to my bf’s, he told me that he recorded the sunday night line up and I had to, HAD TO watch family guy, even though I’m not that fond of it. So he played it back for me, and I recall jumping on the couch, squealing with laughter and nearly pissing my pants. I rewound it and watched it a couple more times just to be sure. Too frickin funny! I was wondering what your comments would be about it. Glad I checked. Have a great weekend! 🙂
also for those who missed it, why not catch someone who recorded it, and have them sell you a copy? and don’t ask me, cuz i’m still stuck back in VCR land 🙂

You should send a request to s mcF that he never use your image again…unless you do the voice.

I totally missed it, so I grabbed it off of Bittorrent and watched it last night. Oh man, I honestly can’t remember the last time I sat there and laughed at a TV show that hard.
The Picard was awesome, and it was stellar to see all of the main characters.
I think the spitting milk took the show though. 🙂
