50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

attention european poker players!

Posted on 9 February, 2006 By Wil

I run these weekly tourneys at PokerStars, at 5:30 PST on Tuesday and 8:30 PST on Thursday.

These games are filled with a really cool mix of players from hee-haw (me) to HAWESOME (GRob) and everywhere in between (Pauly, CJ, PokerGeek, Heather), but there aren’t that many players from the other side of the pond, because the game just starts too damn late for them.

Tomorrow, I’ve cleared a couple of hours in the middle of my morning, so I can host a game specifically designed to be Eurofriendly. In fact, it’s called WWdN: Eurofriendly Friday.

If you’re interested in playing, head over to PokerStars, and from the lobby go to tourneys -> private, and look for tourney number 19345283. The buy-in is $10 +1, and the game starts at 1:30 PM EST (5:30 PM GMT) which should make it "friendly" for the bulk of European players.

As one of the Euro-players requesting such a tournament, it is probably rather ironic that I currently do not have a broadband internet connection (thanks a bunch Aramiska!). So I will have to be there in spirit only this time – I hope it is successful and there will be more in the future. Good luck all.

Yeah it looks like its a heads up against you and me! Is there a 2nd place prize? 😉

Until the clocks go forward we are on GMT and we are 5 hours ahead of East Coast USA at the moment – doesn’t that make it 6.30pm GMT? I don’t want to be late :s

jandel is right, Wil – 1:30 EST is 6:30 GMT (which, frankly, is much better than 5:30. At least give us a chance to get home from work!)

(Oh, and when the clocks go forward, we will be *6* hours ahead [for a week], not 4, so I’m not sure if it is EVER 5:30GMT and 1:30 EST)

Grr. After posting yes on the “shall I make games at euro friendly times” I cna’t make this one as I’ll be just getting homw from work, going out for food and then having a poker night with my mates at my place. Sorry, Wil!

    Hey Wil,
Would you ever consider hosting a beginning poker game? You know for those of us WWDN fans who only sort of know how to play poker and have never played online poker. Or maybe I’m the only one?

Don’t worry Wil, I’ll be there, fortunately enough I only live 5 minutes from the office!

Well, well…so far 3 players (Sires, Wil and jonnytrob)…I’ll sign up later…I guess this thing isn’t going to be a huge success…
    On another note (possible reasons?!):
    – It’s rather early (13:30ET = 19:30 GMT+1 = 18:30 UK)
    – It’s friday night
    – Today is the start of the winter olympics…
    – Today is the Africa Cup of nations final
    – There aren’t all that many europeans at the WWdNs after all…
So I guess I’ll cya at the table(s) later (if the thing isn’t cancelled – what are the policies on that or otherwise put: what’s the treshold before a tourney get’s automatically cancelled by PS?)

I sympathize with Tay’s request – I’m a beginner myself, currently paying $40 every couple of weeks for 7 to 10 people to instruct me – by taking all my chips. But if you advertise a N00b-only game, the wolves will gather, foaming at the mouth…and much as I like your blog and most of the commenters I’ve read, Wil, I feel sure that not all of your readers are so honest as to miss a chance to take out a bunch of beginners.

I guess I’d classify myself as a lucky beginner…I’d love to play with you guys sometime.
