50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

missed the starting gun

  • WWdN in Exile

There just isn’t enough time.

There isn’t enough time to do everything I want to do with my kids.
There isn’t enough time to take long walks with my wife.
There isn’t enough time to work on my yard.
There isn’t enough time to work on my house.
There isn’t enough time to get out and live life to the fullest.
There isn’t enough time to seek out and embrace inspiration.
There isn’t enough time to write great stories.
There isn’t enough time to play games.

There just isn’t enough time.

    I feel your pain. 🙂 But then I saw a quote somewhere…
“We have the same amount of time as Da Vinci, Einstein, Turing….”
    Humbles you a bit.

There has always been enough time. Our options have just increased.

I agree, Wil. There’s not enough time to do everything you want and need to do. Modern technology was supposed to set us free to live lives of leisure – no more toiling from sunrise to sunset. Instead, we are busier than ever and toil round the clock – no stopping when the sun stops, we have electric lights. 😉

Amen. It always seems like there’s more than enough time to do the crap we don’t want to do, but when it comes to the stuff that we want to do… There just aren’t enough hours in the day.

Cannot run out of time. There is infinite time. You are finite. Zathras is finite. This… this is wrong tool.

Not only is there not enough time, but it feels like there’s always more stuff to do. The list is always getting longer and longer. Gods forbid you stop trying to catch up on the “to-do” list to actually sleep, much less do any of the fun things you listed. I can’t remember the last time I did any of those things. If you figure out the balance, please, feel free to share.

As a single mom to an incredibly active 6 year old, there is never enough time to do everything I want/need to do!
I just concentrate on making every day the best that I can, and hope that it’s good enough.

Whenever I feel this way, I seek out the print of this painting by Brian Andreas…

There really isn’t enough time. When I get that same feeling, I prioritize my “not enough time” list. Whatever’s on the top gets my full-on attention, then I move down the list. What I’ve found is when I’m giving attention to the things that really truly matter to me, the others fall naturally into place. The balance is there; just sometimes we can’t feel it.

So true. My husband and I call finding the balance between everything “feng-shui-ing” our lives. We have a hard time and we don’t even have kids yet!

You dont have to do all that at once, you just have to appreciate it when you get to do it and love every second that you get to do it 🙂
you really are wonderful. good luck and makes sure you add “relax, and have fun” onto that long list:)

Now I gotta put on “Dark Side of the Moon”.
I know exactly how you feel about not enough time, Wil. It was only when I said, “I’m control my time, not the other way around” that I noticed time can be made, no matter what.

There is definitely not enough time in our days, not for all that we need to do.
You’re post reminded me of the Too Much Coffee Man “to-do list” comic: http://www.tmcm.com/comics/webcomics/tmcm050131

    Isn’t it TMBG?
“Now I find that I’m dead and I haven’t done everything that I want, or I’m still alive and there’s nothing I want to do…”
My feeling? The former is better than latter.

Not as long as there’s Guitar Hero, no.

My favorite professor used to start many conversations with “in my next lifetime . . . ” Sadly, he died too young as it was (aged 53), but had managed to accomplish some of his goals.
    No, there’s never enough time.

This guy made extra time with polyphasic sleep. Fascinating read. You only sleep 2-3 hours per day total. I tried it for about two days, but kinda came to the same conclusions he does. It would be fantastic if the whole world did it, but it’s a little inconvenient for the real world. I was looking at the next few upcoming days on my calendar and it just didn’t work. And I don’t quite have the freedom in my schedule that he apparently did at the time he started.
I really want to try this again some time though. I really wanted to experience some of the changes in perception of time and lucid dreaming that he writes about. Maybe when my kids are a little older and more self-sufficient. My 1, 3 & 6 yr olds can’t be left alone for 5 minutes, never mind 25 while I nap.
Sounds like it would fantastic for a writer like yourself – and the author.
If you haven’t seen this guy before, definitely set aside some time to peruse his site. Very inspirational.
    And so are you . . . 🙂
