50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

I’m on boingboingTV today

  • Books
  • WWdN in Exile

My friends at boingboing started a daily online broadcast last week, and Xeni invited me in to the studio to talk about The Happiest Days of Our Lives. We taped it late last week, and it went live this morning.

I didn’t know we were going to shoot in front of a green screen, so I stupidly wore a Green Lantern T-shirt (that ends up looking like a Nightwing shirt) and I’m not thrilled at how the profile shot lets my big fat double chin upstage me the entire time, but it’s still a fun interview where we get to talk about geeky stuff.

(RSS readers may have to click through to my blog, or visit boingboing to watch the video.)

I thought you did a great job, and I actually cracked up when you talked about riding skateboards around with your son. I think a lot of fathers could learn a thing or two from a geek like you, Wil.

Hi Wil, this is Melody / Hygena from Who wants to be a Superhero (the Stan Lee scifi channel show)
Just wondering if you or you book will be present this week end at the 2007 Trek Expo in Tulsa OK. I will be there doing a meet and greet Saturday. 🙂
    Stay Sparkly

Wow am I ever glad I got in before the Boing Boing rush! I’ll be cheerfully reading your book this weekend while you are slaving away stuffing envelopes, both celebrating and regretting your surge in orders after this post.

I thought it was a great interview. You some across so real and genuine.

That should have said ‘come across.’ Sorry, I haven’t had my Rockstar yet.

Great interview. I always look forward to seeing you talk about your kids. You’re always so energetic when you do.

I like how you held your ground on the normal part.
Also, Nightwing never gets enough credit. I guess there’s a reason for that.
The interviewer kinda looks like what I imagine the Borg queen to look like pre-assimilation (yes, I know they created her.)
    Good interview though.

I hadn’t seen the post yet, but had BBTV in iTunes. What a pleasant surprise!

Ha! I have that same T-shirt. You should totally grab the awesome Marvel shirt that has a ton of the Marvel characters standing together all badass to balance out the comic book gods.
Ah, K-Mart. I bought the first series of STTNG figures there. The little ones that were the size of GI Joes. (sigh) Sadly those are gone the way of my actual GI Joes. 🙁
I think you did awesome, and my double chin can beat yours down like Leno’s…so poo on you.
So…my question to you is this, are you going to try for a part in the JL movie, because I think you’d make a great Flash.
BTW: My Monsters Tivo season pass just nabbed your episode, Shave and a Haircut. Woot.

I could tell you were a skosh self-conscious about the full-profile camera angle, but trust me, you came across great. Shame on BoingBoing TV, though, for such amateurish production values. How hard is it to position two cameras off to each side, pointed at the opposite subject? Then they’d be capturing 3/4-view shots, which are more interesting for us viewers and less awkward for the participants.

Awesome interview – Xeni kinda scares me though. Is she a robot?

Wanted to post again, as I just received your book in the mail yesterday. I have to tell you that I felt a surge of excitement as soon as I opened the mailbox. I think I somehow knew it was there waiting to be opened and explored.
I loved it. You have a gift for pulling the reader into your world and allowing them to experience first hand what you see and hear. I could almost smell the Odessa Room! It was weird.
On another note, beside laughing out loud at some points, I have to also thank you for the tears. Your story of Felix The Bear had me sobbing to the point that my young son thought something was wrong with me. Your words led me right into the time that I had a similar experience with my darling Benji, a gorgeous Himalayan who was the sweetest fur puff ever.
Keep up the incredible work, Wil. You are a gifted writer. Thank you for making this available to us, too!
Ummmm, when’s the next one? 😉
