50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

Ironic Karma

  • WWdN in Exile

Ironic KarmaLast night, while checking out Reddit near the end of my day, I noticed that my Reddit karma was a rather . . . interesting . . . number.

It’s during times like these that I’m glad I’m so easily amused.

East coast, Ordered book the day orders went live (before the blog post).. Arrived yesterday.
Wil, what is with the bizzare math in the first section? You used the speed of light instead of the distance from the sun.. or am I missing something?
    (or has this been covered).

I did not use the speed of light in my math, which I double-checked and ran past math majors to be entirely sure I’d done everything correctly.

I was just about to give up and ask. Then it clicked. I blame my lack of nerdness on my wife, who wouldn’t let me finish watching Star Trek last weekend at the hotel.
Anyways, to make up for it, here is a nice Zoidberg joke:

    Hee hee.
How… peculiar… one might think… that you somehow… engineered/manipulated your Reddit Karma to result in such an interesting result.
    Coincidence? Hmmmm….

Even after my morning Rockstar, I still don’t get it. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Perhaps I’ve lost touch with a small portion of my nerdiness, but I don’t get the joke.
    I am shamed.

    Think “NCC….”

    Dork.
Of course, I got it right away, so I can’t talk. I also busted up when I saw George Takai’s license plate on his limo on Heroes last season.

It took me a second, but I got there eventually.

Amen the best numbers in the world start with:
    NCC-1701

Haha. At least this was unplanned.
Back in 1991, I belonged to a BBS called BaudTown, in Chatsworth I do believe.
I paid them something like ten bucks to have my account number changed to 1701, and then I changed my username to NCC.

    To explain in great detail……
The screen shot that Wil posted has the number 1701. The number on the Enterprise was 1701, or NCC-1701-D.
Hope this helps those of you who had no idea hehe

You know, I really should have known that.
My previous comment stands: I am shamed.

hahaha… that’s awesome (well in a geeky sorta way)..
ncc1701 was my username at work for years – and then the new company that took us over has something — pfft – name convensions…. how much does that suck!? now i’m ALRO — how boring..
*Goes to change his username back to ncc1701*

That’s fantastic. My husband, when we first met, was playing a starship captain whose ship had the registry number of 1805. When we met, my family’s phone number ended with 1805. It was one of the little things that made our geeky hearts go pitter pat.

I finally figured it out while I was in the shower. Can we say ‘DUH’.
    Boy, do I feel dumb…….

    Nice.
Immediately after I read “1701”, the first thing that popped into my head was “D”.
    I love out-of-the-blue references. 😀

I wonder if an Enterprise will appear in new movie next year. Am I the only fan filled with excitement and dread all at the same time over this new movie?
