50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

reminder: barnes and noble at the grove tonight

  • Books
  • WWdN in Exile

For all five of you who are in Los Angeles: I’ll be signing the Star Trek Manga at Barnes and Noble at The Grove tonight at 7:30. I talked to Erin at the SG Newswire about it yesterday.

This is one of the few stops where I won’t have The Happiest Days of Our Lives, because Barnes and Noble doesn’t have it in their system, and can’t sell it, but that’s the price of being an indie publisher who doesn’t play by The Man’s rules, I guess. \m/

Speaking of The Happiest Days of Our Lives, I took the first batch of orders to the post office yesterday, and I’m processing another big batch of orders this afternoon for delivery tomorrow. I can’t believe this is really happening!

Hey Wil – do you have a link to order your new book through you, or does it need to be ordered through your publisher?

I’m so excited – can’t wait to get my copy!!
On the other hand, I’m so disappointed I can’t get an autograph in person – that’s the price us Canadians pay for living up here…
    Thanks!!

I am my publisher, Jen, so your books are packed, driven to the post office, and mailed out by me or someone in my family.

Sentiment echoed above…eagerly awaiting my copy, but saddened that I don’t live close enough to have it autographed in person.

Damn! You should go back there in November, which is when I’ll be in LA. Either that or come out to the other coast.

Oh boy oh boy, just ordered my copy! Can’t wait to read it. 🙂

Congrats, it must feel great to see one of your visions realized!
Like caitlen315 (how do I get someone else’s name to appear in bold?) said, come out to the East Coast! I realize that there would be logistical complication, if you were to bring books with you, etc. What can we, your devoted fans and supporters do to arrange for an East Coast (Philly would be awesome) appearance. Haven’t you mentioned a website or similar device that we could request an event for you or something?

    Wil,
Since you don’t play by The Man’s rules, I guess you could always have a few dozen books in the trunk of the car for after the signing. 😉
BTW – I’m really glad you were able to appear on the last episode of InDigital. I never would have found the show if it weren’t for your blog, and I’m really going to miss the way the three of you worked together.

Hans, to make something bold, type < b > without the spaces. To turn off the bold, type < / b > again, without the spaces.
Wil, if it’s a logistical problem with the books, you could just ship a whole bunch to my house. I’ve got a sweet couch you could crash on too!

[whisper on] *psst!* Hey Wil, since you are the publisher, and you pack, drive to the post office and mail the books, dontcha think you could put a little siggy on the inside cover for us diehard fans? I promise not to tell! [whisper off]

Yahoo for you Wil!!! I got your book at the convention (actually Dancing Barefoot and Happiest Days)and I loved every chapter!! People will love them and WANT MORE from you!!! Are you thinking about another book? Congrats and please, stay true to you and never give in to the man!!!!! Take care! Oh darn, we are leaving for CA tomorrow night to go to Pomona and Upland to visit my folks. Wish I could leave one day earlier and come support you! Blessings!

Sorry, kristinalead, but it’s not that easy.
My time is limited and valuable right now, and I have to choose very carefully where I invest it.
I’m working several full-time writing jobs right now, and it takes serious time and energy to sign lots of books in addition to processing the orders and handling the shipping. I know there’s a desire for autographed books, which is why we’re doing the signed, numbered, limited edition hardcover.
I feel like a dick saying this, but it’s a business decision as much as it’s a “Keep Wil Sane” decision.
The hardbacks should be available for ordering in a week or so, if they printer’s delivery time is accurate.

Here’s an idea considering all those non-WWdN people you might be running into.
If you are going to be at a signing table work up some fliers about your book and how to buy it.

Are you going to be in Toronto, ON Canada???

  16. timewalker2099 says:

Even better than a flier, how about a free WWdN bookmark with every purchase of Star Trek: The Manga (complete with a mention of Teh Nu Book on it!

Oh Wil, I was just teasin’ ya a bit… I completely understand you have so much to do and so little time to do it in, and I’m sure most, if not all, of your faithful readers and/or fans do as well.
After you posted you were doing the shipping, I just couldn’t help from harassing you, cause I’m like that!
    xo

When will international orders be available?
There are geeks living here in Sweden too.. just don’t tell anyone.

If I come over to your house, pack books, massage your feet and bring them (the books, not your feet) to a post office can I get an autographed copy (and maybe a soda)?

Just a heads up – Sarcastic Gamer jabs at the blog on his Halo 3 Hoedown ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvanJYOGlus ).
RE The Book – I’ll have to wait until the BIG publisher picks it up so this lowly NZer can have a copy.

Wil – Listen to this guy. Its a nice idea. (I’d print both “days of our lives” and “manga” info on the bookmark. That way you can get some cool cross-pollination going on

Wil, name a price for sending the limited, numbered, signed edition to Europe…I’d even accept a double mark-up, just to get my hands on a copy! 🙂

OK…this is off the subject presently at hand…but at tvguide.com they list what the STTNG actors are doing now. In your listing, you are holding the book you just wrote. Now, excuse me if I offend you, but the pic on the cover seems to have a resemblance to Natalie Portman. I hope this isnt taken as a dis.

As one of the 5 people in LA (Pasadena, actually), is there any chance of getting a copy in time to be signed at the Grove tonight?

  28. Craig Steffen says:

Total non-sequitur (I ordered my copy of THDOOL in the first few hours it was available).
Your reviews of TNG episodes made me nostagic for the show, so I put some season 3 eps in my Netflix queue.
I’m sitting here watching “Evolution”, at the beginning of season 3. It begins with you asleep in front of a microscope-type-thing.
Watching it in DVD is really a different experience. Watching it in progressive digital, things look much more crisp and Tron-like, rather than muddy pastel, the way it looked after it had been bounced of the cable company or gone 30 miles through the air.
And you got to do the Spock Eyebrow when you were talking to the visiting doctor in sick bay. How cool is that!

Any plans to come to Orange County? You visited a B&N in HB a few years back… Just wondering. I’d love to hear you read again and if memory serves, there was a respectable turnout when you came down…

I’m sad that I can’t get a copy of the book here in Norway, but I’m excited because I will be visiting my family soon in the States and will be able to get my copy then. 🙂
