50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

186, and some other NUMB3RS

Posted on 21 November, 2007 By Wil

The good news is that I packed and labeled 186 books to be shipped. Of  those 186, about 30 are international orders that still need customs forms and postage, but the rest are ready to go. This brings us to the bad news, which is that I just finished now, an hour after the post office closed, the day before a holiday. So if you were in the first 186 and you’re in the US, your book will ship Friday morning. If you were in the first 186 and you’re somewhere other than the US, it will ship by Saturday. (According to my fuzzy math and hazy memory, the first 186 would be between noon and 2pm PST on Sunday, if you’re wondering.)

Ryan’s coming home for Thanksgiving, so I think I’ll have non-computer priorities until he goes back to school on Sunday, so this is a weekend farewell from me. Thanks for being part of an awesome (if short) week, and if you’re traveling in the next few days, I hope it’s as hassle-free and enjoyable as possible. Airborne is sugary crap; take Emergen-C. And wash your hands. A lot.

Oh! I keep forgetting to mention: I’m on NUMB3RS this Friday night. The episode is called "Graphic." I’ll have a post at TV Squad about working on the show sometime on Friday.

Wil and crew: Have a Bountiful Bird, and wonderfun family visit! We will watch Numb3rs and report back, right here!
Speaking of… Hey, Austin gang! Wanna watch it together? I have access to a large screen, if anyone wants to gather for it. Unfortunately, angiek will be out of town. What about Andrew or Amy? Anyone else from Austin area? We can swap Alamo Drafthouse anecdotes during commercials! (yes, I have to rub it in..we are the cool town!)

I have my DVR box set for Numb3rs I can’t wait to see it. I’ve always loved the show and have never missed an episode, but for the first time in a long time I’m actually considering watching it live;)
Oh, and welcome home Ryan (even if it’s only for a few days.)

w00t Numb3rs! Didn’t expect it to be airing so soon.
As for the books, you’re shipping faster than my latest Amazon order, so I really wouldn’t sweat it. Have a great weekend with your boys!

    Wil Wheaton on NUMB3RS Friday

One last blurb before I close shop for tonight: Mr. Wil Wheaton did a guest spot on NUMB3RS which is scheduled to air this coming Friday. I don’t know a thing about the show as I generally find myself firmly…

    It’s a great show!
It’s also a Taxi ‘reunion’ for Christopher Lloyd and Judd Hirsch (the Dad)
For those new to David Krumholtz, he was Mr Universe in “Serenity”
…and Bernard The Head Elf in “The Santa Clause”
Everyone else: Happy Thanksgiving, or Happy Third Thursday in Nov!
If we don’t have a ‘cool’ designation, ie: one of the 300, or ‘exclusive 6’

I wonder if you are going to be able to hear my geek screams all the way out in Cali when my book arrives. Thanksgiving starts the official “holiday rush” at my job which means no time off and probably no regular days off either so this will make it a little more bearable. Thanks again Wil and have a great Thanksgiving!

  22. ALRO says:

I record all Numb3rs episodes – i love the show.. so I’ll definitely be watching it on the weekend at some point.
Can’t wait to get the book.. looking forward to it. Living in Canada – so I’ll be patient… considering that it’s all being packed my you and all that – i can’t complain… good work — i know you may not hear that all that often!!
But i can truely appreciate all the hard work and long hours …
Have a good thanksgiving – enjoy your time with your family! I’ll be starting my new game The Witcher in PC — WoOt!

    Hey Wil,
I just bought Happiest Days and I’m setting my VCR to tape Numb3rs.
I won’t be able to watch it live, because it airs during the game of the century for WAC football. Go BSU!

  24. Pazy says:

I never really got into numbers, but I want to watch it cause your in it.
Too bad it probably wont air in the uk for 8 months or more.
    May have to torrent it.

  27. Jonah Rapp says:

I feel like an absolute fsking idiot… Some reason I thought there was going to be a non-super-secret-special-edition hardcover, and now I’ve blown my chance of getting in on the 300. Crud. Ah, well. If you come up to Seattle for the next Emerald City ComicCon or PAX, maybe I can ask you to sign my copies of Dancing… and JAG. Will continue to waffle on picking up a paperback (*sobs*) copy of THDOOL (*throws the crossed hammers in appreciation of the title*).

  28. kristinalead says:
    22 November, 2007 at 2:39 pm

Hope you and your family have a very good Thanksgiving holiday!
P.S. VCR will be programmed for Numb3rs, as per usual, but triple-checked so as to not miss the episode with you in it! Have you noticed the show has been even “geekier” than usual lately? I mean, it always has been, what with the math genius solving crimes for the FBI with his caluclations, formulas and game theory principles, but two weeks ago there was the episode wherein many of the regular characters participated in a combination online/live RPG, with some seriously geeky (and awesome!) characters, and more and more it seems like every crime can be completely solved with math and the FBI agents are just hanging around as “muscle”…

  29. Celtic Mama says:

Wil, I hope you and your family have the best Thanksgiving ever!

  30. Jewels says:

Happy Thanks giving, Wil! (A little late, I know…) I hope you have a great time with your family.
We don’t celebrate, but at least I had THDOOL (paperback version) in my mailbox yesterday! I spend the evening reading with “my” cat Felix on my lap and “my” other cat Mausi on my feet. (They are not really my cats, but those of my roommate. My own cat Orry couldn’t move with me yet when I got my new job, but once I’m settled here, he will follow.) When I got to the chapter about letting go of your Felix, it was very emotionally and I had to cry. I kept thinking about my Orry and how I really missed him and wanted him to be here, in addition to my “substitute cats”.

Happy belated Thanksgiving Wil!! I just picked up Star Trek Manga Volume 2 and I can’t wait to read your story. And of course The Happiest Days of Our Lives when I get that in the mail. 🙂

  34. stikboy says:

Popped onto TVguide.com to see when the show was on, I noticed that they mention Christopher Lloyd as a guest star – but not Mr. Wheaton. But as a special nod(?) they were advertising poker books on the same page.
Looking forward to the episode. Happy Turkey Day everyone!

    Nice work sir.

  39. Tauvix says:
    23 November, 2007 at 7:19 pm

I’m 20 minutes into the show, and you know, the first thing that struck me about your initial appearance is you walking past a Star Trek booth with a stand up of William Shatner. 🙂

  40. fairnhite451 says:
    23 November, 2007 at 7:20 pm

Hmm, no Wil since the last commercial break ;-(
The FBI guy quoting Dr Strange 😉
    …lookitme, I’m live blogging. heh.

  41. uneedaklu says:

Wil – Miles Sklar is quite the douchebag. Nice work!!!
Hope you and yours had a fantastic holiday!

  42. fairnhite451 says:
    23 November, 2007 at 7:31 pm

So, another commercial break … still no more Wil, dammit.
Episode just took a detour into predictable, which is too bad, because the first 25 minutes were gold. Or “mint” as it were.
Potential gaping plot hole detected. (For the sake of not posting a spoiler, since I can’t be bothered to quickly looking up the code to make it come out as hidden text, I won’t post it until later) I’m hoping like heck(le & jekyl) I’m going to be proven wrong in it in the last half of the show.
I will say that this episode has me questioning why I ever stopped watching the show in the first place. I loved the first season.

  43. Jaded Empath says:
    23 November, 2007 at 7:34 pm

“Comics are a business. I am rich because of that.”
You do ‘douchebag’ VERY well, Mr. Wheaton – especially since Miles Sklar seems so unlike *you*. 🙂
And my wife caught your Picard maneuver ^_^(I was looking down to eat at that moment, and only caught it in my peripheral vision)
Even if you don’t show again, it was well worth it!

  44. digital skies design says:

    You’re the bad guy!?

  45. fairnhite451 says:
    23 November, 2007 at 7:44 pm

Heh. You get a really nice sound bite line in the last segment. I think perhaps your next story about Paypal and their shiznit could be titled “I am a victim here!”
Damn, I missed the Picard maneuver. …. Grrr.

  46. Jaded Empath says:
    23 November, 2007 at 7:45 pm

He’s NOT the bad guy – he’s the victim!! 😉

  47. Shky says:
    23 November, 2007 at 7:57 pm

    Great job, Wil.
    Really enjoyed your performance.

  48. Jaded Empath says:

    Awww; he gave it back – Miles/Wil isn’t a total douche! 😉

  49. Simply Caitlin says:
    23 November, 2007 at 8:01 pm

i agree, you definitely do *douchebag* very well. great performance. I loved that they subtly added in Star Trek fans into the scenes you were in…glad you did the show, enjoyed it a lot.
    Soak it up babe.

Very impressed Wil, your character was a total jerkwad.
