50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

nearly all hardbacks have shipped

  • Books

It’s a strange day here in Los Angeles. It’s cloudy and gray, and if you looked out a window you’d think there was a chill in the air.

But it’s 78 degrees in my back yard right now, and tonight? It’s forecast to get as low as 46, just in case anyone was delusional enough to think that Los Angeles is not in the middle of a desert.

Anyway, if you’re in the 300, I thought you’d like to know that all the domestic hardbacks — except a couple of eChecks that found their way into the wrong box and will ship tomorrow — have just been dropped off at the post office.

International orders will start shipping ASAP. I’d hoped to have everything done by today, but with my writing deadline being moved up from mid-January to Tuesday, I sort of need to put as much of my time and energy as I can into finishing the story. Please accept my deepest apologies on the delays. I wish there was a simpler way to get the goddamn customs and postage done, but unless I’m willing to charge international customers an outrageous amount of shipping, this is the best I can do.

I think it’s nice you care enough not to charge outrageously!

    Hey Wil,
Does Canada count as domestic or international?
    Thanks,
(Just got my copies of JaG, and DB from Amazon today too. (ordered from the link over there –>)

oh, and I would have been willing to pay more to deal with customs and shipping.

I just wish you were doing another run of hardbacks, fo rthose of us who missed the damn window, but prefer it over paperback. 🙁 I know I don’t speak for everyone on here, but I WILL pay ten times the cost of a paperback to get THSOOL in hardback.
It’s simple. I like to support the actors I like, and I like to support the authors I like, and since you’re both, and I like you, then I want to show my support times two. *shrug*
Plus, I tirelessly upgrade my books from their paperback format every chance I get, and willingly buying the paperback when I KNOW theres a hardback version out there…? *shudder*

Apologies for the typos. Wish there was an “edit” feature for comments. Blah.

    Hey Wil,
I don’t know entirely how your publishing process works, but have you ever considered using something like lulu.com? Cost is fairly good, you could offer both paper and hardback styles, they would handle the shipping, and you would make a profit.
Just something to consider if your planning on having runs of hardcovers that aren’t signed and looking to free up some time for other things.

    Wil,
Thanks for all the energy you’ve put into getting these books out to us. As a fellow working-under-a-fast-approaching-deadline person, I can appreciate how difficult it must be for you to juggle your work and get out this huge amount of books by yourself. It’s rare to see someone this devoted to his fans. Thank you.

    Hey Wil…
“just in case anyone was delusional enough to think that Los Angeles is not in the middle of a desert.”
Isn’t it really considered an “Arid Desert?”…
Hope all is well my friend…
    Keith

    “When it’s gray in LA
I really like it that way,
Cuz there’s way too much sunshine ’round here.
    I don’t know about you,
I get so tired of blue
    skies whenever they always appear.”
Thanks for the great book, Wil! This grey-haired, dice-bag-owning Dad really appreciated it.

Yeah, gotta love our LA weather. The smoke from the fires was great, too — kind of like living through War of the Worlds (a la Spielberg in 2005, I mean).
When’s the next run of HDooL? I’m reading Geek now, but would like to get a copy of this newest effort as well.

    Wil,
Take your time on the book orders.
Those of us who have been stalking following you for years now are aware you’re a man with ethics and integrity.
If you say the books will be shipped I know they will be.
For now you have a deadline that’s more important than shipping books. Concentrate on your writing assignment and don’t feel guilty about the books.
I do hope you’ll eventually find time to do an audiobook version of your latest book.
    Thanks,
    ~gary.

Wil, I stole some stuff (from your most recent writer’s strike post) from you for my latest blog entry. I’m from blogger and did my best to code a Trackback routine into my template, but just in case you do not get my ping, my link is http://LoAnon.blogspot.com. Just thought I’d do you the courtesy of letting you know I’m linking to you.

As someone that owns two of your other books, it was nice to see something other than a blog about shipping them 🙂
I was curious how come you skipped over the following subjects:
    1) The fires in LA
    2) Jerry Yang winning the WSOP
    3) Jamie Gold winning the WSOP
I might have missed those posts but it seems like they were never a topic.

Well, whether or not Canada is considered Domestic or International, I can’t wait to see where I fall in the count of The 300. wooT!!
Maybe even the new model of the Super Hi-Teckno Style Anti-bending Device from BendyCO.
Yes, Wil, I kept that from 2002 when I ordered a picture from you.

I am not in the 300 though I’m the proud owner of other works of yours (including the white box audio book), but I wanted say how enjoyable it has been for me to follow your hardcover odyssey for the past few days. As many folks are this time of year, I’m in time-suck-hell, but when I’ve had had opportunity to pop my head out of my fox hole (cubicle) it’s been nice to see what’s going on up at Casa de Wheaton, where the weather’s mostly the same as mine in the OC, but the joy meter is on tilt. And I loved what you wrote about community a few days ago while liveblogging. Too true.

for those of us who no longer have the time to actually read dead tree versions anymore are there plans for an audio version of this book like your last one?
    thanks

Not sure why, but every time I scan the blog and see the heading to this post, I think it says, “nerdy all hardbacks have been shipped”…
