I was AFK for two days while visiting family, so I didn’t have time to post about this until right now. In a moment, you’ll see why I’m apologizing in advance.
The winner of the Child’s Play dinner seats with me, Robert Khoo, and some Bungie folks had a family commitment and couldn’t come to Seattle on Tuesday. He’d already paid for the auction, so he told Child’s Play to keep his winning bid as a donation and asked them to relist the auction.
The auction’s been relisted, but it ends in 4 hours. At the moment, the highest bid is $1000.

It’s really cool to see folks handle things like this in such an upright and decent manner. Props to the guy who originally won, and condolences to him for missing out on it.
Dang it! I’m in Seattle and I’ve been waiting for you to come here, ok that sounded creepy, what I meant was I was hoping to catch a book signing or something. Where are you taking them to dinner? Again, probably sounds creepy… If you like Thai food Typhoon is awesome, if you want to go for uptight fancy hotel food the Olympic Four Seasons Georgian Room is really gorgeous this time of year.
Have fun, I hope the weather won’t suck too much for you. I think it might snow tomorrow! YAY
Off topic for this blog entry, I reckon, but perhaps of interest to you, Wil, to be a Special Presenter at the 2nd Annual Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts. Your name is mentioned…
“Our awards show is on Feb 15th (‘The Elans’ in Vancouver) and I have yet to find the right Host. I had William Shatner last year. I’m thinking Seth MacFarlane or Green for Host this show and Wil Wheaton as a Special Presenter (sort of a co-host) … what do you think? And, importantly, I need fast direct contact to these people as I simply do not have the time to play the gate-keeper game! Any names/ideas/contacts would be GREATLY appreciated!”

I would do it in a heartbeat except that I’m not anywhere near Seattle and won’t be. Damn.
It’d be very cool to have dinner with you especially since I think we think alike. 😉
I work for a non-profit too and I think that’s great that the guy donated his bid.
We’re trying to get some big name here for our Annual Fur Ball gala (like the name? Good, I came up with it!) I work in fundraising at an animal shelter in Cincinnati and we’re always trying to get a big name. We had Peter Frampton last year (rock!!!) and Loretta Switt the year (or two?) before. I think they’re trying to get George Clooney right now but he’s a busy busy man. Ellen Degeneres too, but she’s got a lot on her plate…
Anyway, good luck and hey, wouldn’t mind if you stopped in at one of our events! 😉
Thanks for the condolences.
Note to self: Check with SO prior to bidding and don’t try to surprise her with it.
I’m really happy to see that the bidding got even higher than the last time. $1350.00. Good to see it going to a great cause. I am so jealous.
Man…I’m in Seattle, and I’d love to go, but unfortunately my bank account and couch cushions have run a bit dry due to my holiday shopping. Oh, well…maybe another year.
Question for Wil: are you going to have any time while you’re in Seattle to do a book signing or anything? I just bought a copy of Just A Geek for a friend for Christmas, and I’d love to get it autographed before giving it to him.
DAMMIT!
I would have loved to fantasize about bidding on those tickets. Of all the weekends for me to go AWOL!
