50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

just nod if you can hear me

  • WWdN in Exile

I spent the last four days in Bat Country, while recovering from major sinus surgery. I’ll spare the gory (and oh my god are they gory) details, but when all this packing comes out of my sinuses on Tuesday, I can look forward to not snoring all night and waking up with a skull crushing sinus headache for the first time in about ten years. I’m planning a party, all by myself with some toast and a cup of coffee.

I don’t think I’ll be posting much until I’m back to normal, but I didn’t want anyone to think I’ll fallen down a well next to little Timmy Turner.O’Toole. (My bad. I’m so full of painkillers and meds that all I can do ism, nsdnsakazza, mmp.)

Unless Sting wants to write a song about it, in which case, please send your love down the well.

I had sinus surgery for snoring and a deviated septum about a year and a half ago.
When they took the packing out of my nose I couldn’t believe how much of it there was. It was packed all the way down into my throat!!
    Enjoy!

But not the problems many of the posters here are reporting. Take it easy, we will all still be here when you are 100%.

    Hi Wil,
Found you at last – glad you are recovering now.
I saw an old blog of yours a couple of days ago(http://www.wilwheaton.net/mt/archives/003246.php) regarding the revenge of the sith lineup outside Grauman’s theatre. Can you update us on what happened? Was there a reconciliation in the end? When did they leave – or are they still there?!
Some great work here, lots to aspire to. It’s always nice to find out someone you grew up with did well for themselves :).

When I had double hernia surgery ’bout 3.5 yrs. ago, they inserted a defective computer chip in me & I pick up all kinds of static from the CIA.
Hope your implant is a significantly improved version & doesn’t keep you awake.
    Get better . . . stronger . . . faster soon.

Good luck with that, Wil. I had similar surgery four years ago. (Not for snoring). Beware, some really horrible stuff will come out of your nose for a while after the surgery. This is normal, just remember when it happens- Breathing is good.

Get well. I’ll celebrate with you (if you don’t mind) with my cup of Jitter Juice (yes, it’s a coffe drink, damn good too!) and a bagel. ^_^

I had the same surgery. Instead of waiting for the doctor to remove the cotton, I did so myself. No big deal, except that the congealed blood that pooled in my sinuses felt like that piece of snot you can’t seem to pick out.
So i started pulling on a string of this blood-snot. As I pulled, I felt a tugging behind my eyes — like a peeling away from my sinuses. It was like a cheap magic trick. The more I pulled, the more stringy congealed blood ended up in my hand.
At this moment, my brother walked in through the other bathroom door — to quite a sight: a baseball sized glob of brown-red goo in my hand, with a string of it leading from my nose.
Having no idea what was going on, he almost fainted.
