50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

in which i co-write a special edition of PvP

Posted on 7 April, 2008 By Wil

Scott Kurtz, who is the mad genius behind PvP, recently took a week off while he had the bird flu or the bubonic plague or the Andromeda strain or something like that.*

While he was recovering, a bunch of people filled in for him and did guest strips at PvP Online. One of those guest strips was done by Rich Stevens, the mad genius behind Diesel Sweeties. When Rich told me that he was guesting and asked if I would I like to write the strip with him, I dropped everything (note to self: don’t carry priceless works of historical pottery while reading e-mail from Rich in the future) and put on my thinking cap, which as it turns out was made of bacon.

Please to be enjoying Brent Sienna and his Amazing Nitrate-Free Porknicolor Dreamcoat, written by Rich and Wil, and drawn by Rich.

*all kidding aside, it was a pretty serious case of staph and I’m glad that Scott recovered fully, because he’s a good person and I really like him.

No offense to Kurtz (because he IS a good guy,) but this strip (and the recent other guest strips) have been more interesting that the standard PvP faire recently. Kudos to you and RS on a great comic.

The thought of bacon isn’t good anymore. 🙁
Why? Why did you have to go there?!?
I’m sure I’ll get over it eventually. And then I’ll remember that Wil Wheaton, of all people, managed to think up the idea of wrapping Brent Sienna in bacon!

ur in his comix, giving us lulz.
All lolcat-speak aside, you did a fantastic job. I’m not a regular PvP reader, but from what I have read, I can say this is definitely up to par with Scott’s best stuff.

Yay! Nice one, both of you!
My plushie “Skull the Troll” is sitting here agreeing.
Scott was right, that was an unusual team-up! Delicious, though!

And this is how the universe works: I order a signed/doodled copy of Truth, Justin & The American Way from PvP in Feb.; it doesn’t come; Kurtz gets really sick; Wheaton’s bacon spacesuit appears on PvP; my book arrives the next day. Good day to be a dork.

My hubby and I are huge PvP fans, so we check on the comic almost daily. That’s how I had read the comic before seeing your blog entry about it. I’m not in the habit of reading Scott’s notes on the comics, and though I might of skimmed it that day because of his week of guest strips, I can’t believe I missed your name. It took my hubby last night after reading it on his own to ask me, “Did you read the latest PvP comic? Do you know who wrote it?” Way to go me for not actually reading the credits underneath. I have to say it was one of the funniest (and oddest) things I’ve read in a while! Congrats! I will never look at bacon the same way again.
