50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

the daily facepalm

io9:

Season three of Heroes will introduce two new characters,
because the show isn’t overcrowded enough already: Joy, who’s in her
early twenties and good at getting herself into, and out of, trouble.
And Senator Robert Malden, a "political straight shooter" in his
fifties.

Yeah, because introducing new characters worked so very well last season.

Dammit. I loved Heroes in season one. Let’s have more of that, and less of whatever the hell last season was, pretty please?

Perhaps if they introduce the dramatic prairie dog as a new character?

    Right fucking on!

I’m pretty sure that we did get less of season two.
I’ve heard that cutting the Heroes season short was the real motive behind the writer strike.

LOL @ Alan’s comment. Great comment man!

    Right on, Wil.
Also, more Masi Oka. In less lame time traveling storylines. Asian guy fetish? Me? No… never.

EXACTLY! Thank you. Season One was awesome, Season Two was…well, not. I’m glad it wasn’t just me.

Dude, seriously, could we finish season 2 before we start season fucking 3?

Here here, Wil!! Season 2 of Heroes was lame compared to Season 1.
BTW April, I never did have a crush on an Asian guy until I saw Hiro, so I know how you feel! 😀

After swearing off t.v. for a while, season one of Heroes is what made me get cable again – because I was sick of the jumpiness of watching it over my crappy DSL connection. Season two was…eh. I’m hoping that the awesomeness returns.

Found this on Amazon. How old is this?
Pert proper Southern Belle Grace (Cat Taber) and bohemian Casey (Soleil Moon Frye – Punky Brewster Sabrina the Teenage Witch) are adversarial dorm roommates who couldn’t be more outwardly opposite. While Grace makes after-graduation wedding plans for her and her fraternity boy fiance (Wil Wheaton – Stand by Me Star Trek: Next Generation) Casey mopes drinks has illicit affairs and hangs out with her bi-sexual friend Sweetie. When Casey’s antics accidentally threaten her roommate’s plans for a perfect future Psych major Grace follows her life philosophy and embarks on a vengeful mission to “right the balance.” When she insinuates herself into Casey’s chaotic life the entanglement threatens to destroy each girl’s carefully constructed reality. Irene Turner (co-producer Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss) directs this dramatic comedy which is considered a fresh departure from the stereotype of the good girl vs. bad girl conflict as both modern young women struggle to understand what they want from their wide open futures.System Requirements: Running Time 101 MinFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: HORROR

The Girls’ Room is classified as HORROR?!
Oh man, someone should get fired over that.
(It’s a great movie that I’m really proud of, that was a lot of fun to make.)

I don’t want a rehash of season 1 either. We all agree S2 sucked. Well S1 was a huge let down. All build up, no pay off.
The same trend happened in S2, though to a lesser extent, thank the gods.
Season 3 needs to establish some solid comic book staples.
    1) Bad guys! Both with and without powers. Not just boring Sylar.
    2) Teaming up from almost the get go.
3)Lots of questions, but all answering them relatively quickly.
4)We don’t need any more heroes.
    5)Kill Mya. She’s useless.
6)Bring back DL. He got punked out.
7)Have Wil be a hero with an awesome power 🙂
    8)Most importantly MORE ACTION!!!!!

I second the “needs wil” to heroes, especially if they HAVE to add more characters.
And more Hiro, but none of the boring stuff. I got bored enough I didn’t even bother watching the end of the season. Bastards.

So is the tragic decline of most series now-a-days. Even the ones that bare little resemblance to the assembly line shows that fill prime time TV, they still lose their luster after a while. That creative spark usually dies out and they continue to produce crappy shows. Hopefully it will not be the case here no?

I was listening to the 10th Wonder podcast, and they’ve said basically that the writers know a lot of people didn’t like Season 2. (I did, aside from the fact that it was cut short and Sylar was a little too off the deep end)
Anyhow, the gist was: Season 3 is going to knock you back in your seat starting episode 1.

  16. Ryan Waddell says:

I didn’t really mind the new characters they brought in. I like the whole “people discovering their superpowers” aspect to Heroes, that’s what I liked so much about S1. The thing I hated most about S2 (besides the fact that it was far too short, and didn’t really go anywhere) was all the lame love story stuff. Both Hiro and Claire’s love stories were SO BORING.

  17. Keri says:

The one part of season two I actually liked was Micah’s ass-kicking cousin. The one who could see someone do something and then do it herself. Very cool!
The rest of S2 is completely forgettable.

I’m starting to think it might just make for better TV all ’round if people would put all their efforts into something KNOWING from the start they’re looking at a limited storyline arc for a series and then That’s All Folks. Look at the Brits and the original Office and Extras: Two seasons and out, that’s the plan. No painful demise. As much as I love Battlestar, for instance, I have to admit I’m glad they’ve chosen to say, “You know, four seasons is plenty for the story we want to tell, and we should go out strong.” Honestly, after the Heroes Season One big flashback epsiode that ended with HRG and the Haitian on the bridge, I thought, “Wow. They could end the series right there and it would be iconically cool.”

First season was wonderful! After last season, though, I’m going into the next season cautiously. Not only did the new characters suck, characters that I really liked seemed to take stupid pills. There were only about two episodes that I actually enjoyed last season.

First time poster, semi-long time reader (a couple of months I think…).
In light of the writer’s strike, Season 2 reflects it being cut short. Hopefully Season 3 will be a bit better, as they know how long it’ll be before they start. Roll on September!
I’m a huge Heroes fan, and was disappointed in the predictability & weak ending of the second season. I do hope that Season 3 isn’t so predictable.

  21. Macros says:

@MattWallace: I read a while ago that Tim Kring basically apologised to fans about Season 2 & said Season 3 would be better. Let’s hope so!

I liked season 2, although not as much as season 2. But I think season 2 was just on a slow burn. They thought they had 22 episodes or so. But the strike cut it off. So all we got was a slow build up and hasty ending. I like asian guys. Well, my boyfriend. 😛 But I did think the Hero in Japan story line was too long. But I did like the HRG/Claire story line and Monica and Mika. I would have loved to have seen more Claire vs. Elle. The Maya story line was interesting but too long. There wasn’t anything I hated in season 2. It just feels undone.

Shame on you, Wil… You’re a writer. You oughta know. It’s not the addition or deletion of characters, it’s what you do with (or to) them. Season One introduced the most characters of all, and it didn’t suck. Last season was not as good as it should have been, but the non-addition of those new characters would not have saved it. I look forward to Season 3, with all of its new (and old) characters, and hope it doesn’t suck. But if it does, I won’t be blaming the characters for that.

    “Senator Robert Malden”
Oh god, if I get even a whiff of X-Men from this I swear to god I will stop watching this show. Except you know, time shifted to miss the commercials, say 20 minutes off.
