50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

in which blue light special is adapted for comics

  • WWdN in Exile

PegsI’m working like crazy on actual fiction writing, so my time and motivation for posting in my blog is a bit lacking, as I immerse myself in a dystopian future Los Angeles which is hopefully unique from all the other dystopian future Los Angeles (Los Angelesses? Los Angeli?) that we’re all familiar with.

However, I’m taking a break from all that to point you, dear reader, to this adorable adaptation of Blue Light Special that I helped write for a comic called Blogjam.

I quite enjoy it, and the archives are absolutely worth digging through; there’s some very funny stuff in there. Best of all, regular people like you and me can submit stories from our totally awesome lives in the hopes that they’ll be adapted into future strips.

    That’s awesome.
Your kid self looks just like you – I can totally imagine those exact expressions on your face!

I think the spelling stays the same, but the pronunciation varies between unvoiced and voiced: “one angeless” vs. “two angeleez”.

Personally, I’m gonna have to go with Los Angeli.

Somehow, I don’t think four panels of me drinking beer would be that entertaining to other; however, I may be wrong.
Also, I just came across Roddenberry.com which has really cool ST props and tshirts.

Cool! I love the comic strip! Brings back memories. 1981 was the year I graduated from high school. My brother and I collected those figurines too!

    Wil,
My parents said Star Wars was Satanic so I did not see any of the films until I was 18 and moved out. I now own all 6 films but no action figures. It is great not to have to pretend, in school, that had seen those films.

    Wow..
You know, that is exactly how things went with my lesser-liked toys. They always got cast in the lame supporting roles.

I really liked the illustration done for that clip…it seemed to fit your writing well.

Los Angeles is already a plural (like many cities, particularly ancient ones); I don’t think it was taken into account that there might be more of them. So probably you should just have the same spelling, but qualify it (three Los Angeles, many Los Angeles).

Amazing how people can live in totally different parts of the country, but have similar childhood memories. Between my brother and I we had all the vehicles and tons of figures, and Lando was always the first to die!

good luck with the fiction writing…i looove fiction…but reality often is much more drama… i should know http://www.unheardpoems.blogspot.com

I would agree w/UltraNurd, except to also point out that Los Angeles is already a plural (el angel, los angeles), and a non-English plural, at that, so it will always seem strange trying to pluralize the Anglicization of a word…

    Cities of Los Angeles.

It’s a great story in every medium. And what a cool comic! The archives were fun to read through.

Wow, that’s some cool. I remember spending a lot of time hanging around in the Toys R Us looking over the racks of Star wars figures and trying to figure out which ones to get.

Last night, when I was working at Toyland, I saw those Star Wars Mighty Muggs toys, and right there, next to Princess Leia, was ol’ Lando. I thought of this story last night, so it was awesome to come here and see the comic book version. Still one of my favorite moments here.

Lol, cool… I wish I’d had a collection of something cool, but I was still a teenybopper. Hadn’t found my true identity as a geek yet 😀
