Hi, long time lurker first time commenter:
This was the first xkcd in ages that I hated. I know the title is “jealousy” but to me it’s a big “screw you”. It irked me on so many levels I just had to…well, leave a blog comment.

I knew a Megan like that, except her name was Kim.

@Haydn: I didn’t take it all that seriously, and thought it was funny, but I totally see your point.

Don’t know why there’s a prohibition about ever experiencing it again, unless it’s a self-imposed one. Strange.

Ooooh, that’s a good one. Complicated. I like that.

I’m just happy it didn’t end with a “your mother” joke.

Nice one – lots of layers. Each time I read it I get a different taste of the back story and the feelings of the narrator. Like Will said, complicated.
(OT: Dude, Will Hindmarch *totally* posted in your blog!!)

    Hadyn,
Well since she’s married, maybe this will be his last “Megan” comic strip and you won’t have to suffer any more of them.
    I liked it myself.

I think this is my favourite xkcd of all time, even though it’s more narrative than ‘toon. I felt, for some reason, compelled to read it out to my wife last night when I saw it (though not through bitterness, you understand).

I liked it but there were other Megan episodes I liked much better.
But hey, you *do* know every xkcd strip has an ALT text, do you? 😉

It made me a little sad. Steve Eley of escapepod.org very strongly stated that he found it very cruel (http://twitter.com/SFEley/statuses/805757628). One person replied to Eley saying they had been sad all day after reading it.
I think it’s amazing that this one-panel comic, in a few words, wrenched such emotions out of people. You might not like the theme or the result, but you have to admire the genius.

I certainly appreciated this XKCD strip a lot more than some of the more obscure ones. If I have to look up something on Wikipedia to get the joke, it’s probably not worth it 🙂

I could take the comic as bittersweet were it not for the line “I hope it stings a little”, to me that seems like the author is trying to twist the knife a bit too much.
@JadeEJF : a lot of xkcd strips remind me of Joker’s advice to Harley – “if you have to explain the joke then it isn’t funny!”.

Bitter and heart felt. I can totally relate to the emotions and definitely one of the flip sides to humor. Anger.
    Great find and post Wil.
