Update: there seems to be something in the embedded video that tripped a lot of malware/virus/something bad’s happening scanners, so I’ve removed the embed.

If you still want to see it, you can watch this lovely satire at YouTube.

  1. You know, the Leo DiCaprio version will probably be strangely similar to that.
I always have to wonder why studio execs think that if you water down a great movie it will become more accessible. It just doesn’t seeem to work like that.

  2. Seems the SWF file is throwing me an Anti-Virus message:
The Actns/Swif.T was detected in [temp location file]\L[1].SWF.
Thought you’d want to know… VERY funny video tho.

  3. @Randy: it should go straight to YouTube. Are you saying that there’s malware embedded in the YouTube video? Because … wow that attack vector would really fuck up the internet for a lot of people.

  4. Looks like a cut-away from Family Guy to me… “Hey Lois, remember when Gary Coleman and I watched Akira on the Disney channel last week?”

  5. No virus error here (of course I am on a MAC) (insert evil laughter here).
Funny – does look like a Family Guy cut-scene (good call Prof_Rocko).
BTW – the video from Enjonel is pretty cool…

  6. The ending is right, there WILL be a re-release of AKIRA, with enhancements.
The same thing is being done with Ghost in the shell (by the director of course) seen a few pictures of the difference and it makes it a LOT cleaner, and less dstracting

  7. @Will – Actually yeah – it happened in both places… showed up in the SWF file itself. I tried on two different PC’s – one AV scanner picked it up (and auto-fixed it) but the other one didn’t hiccup… very weird. And if successful it could be VERY impactful (and news to most of us!)
