This morning, SF Signal linked to an interview with Kevin Smith (I swear, this blog isn’t going to be all Kevin Smith, all the time) where he obliquely discusses a movie that he can’t really talk about: Host: So thumbs up on The Watchmen, what else you got? … Speaking of Kevin Smith (and, really, I swear this isn’t going to be a regular thing), Anne and I went to the opening of Crazy 4 Cult 2 at Gallery 1988 on Friday night, thanks to an unexpected invite from Jensen, who I believe is the gallery’s owner. … While you’re in the neighborhood, you can buy comics (including the new Star Trek Manga that has my story The Art of War in it, plug plug) at Golden Apple , see a show down the street at ACME , and have dinner at Bulan Thai , the best vegetarian Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to.

Hi Wil Have you heard the news that Caprica has been given the green light?

Well, that looks like safe, patriotic fun! … I would watch that.
The only possible reaction to that is “Dubya Tee Eff!”
So… you suppose we’ll see a giant PEZ on the back of his jacket? Or will M&M’s scoop up the product placement deal?

OMG! I totally saw Akira like, a month ago for the first time.
This totally cracked me up! haha

whiskey tango foxtrot
I say again:
whiskey tango fucking foxtrot!
Are they really going to parody Akira in its entirety? yoiks.

It will turn on your geek.

You know, the Leo DiCaprio version will probably be strangely similar to that.
I always have to wonder why studio execs think that if you water down a great movie it will become more accessible. It just doesn’t seeem to work like that.
Seems the SWF file is throwing me an Anti-Virus message:
The Actns/Swif.T was detected in [temp location file]\L[1].SWF.
Thought you’d want to know… VERY funny video tho.
@Randy: it should go straight to YouTube. Are you saying that there’s malware embedded in the YouTube video? Because … wow that attack vector would really fuck up the internet for a lot of people.
Looks like a cut-away from Family Guy to me… “Hey Lois, remember when Gary Coleman and I watched Akira on the Disney channel last week?”
No virus error here (of course I am on a MAC) (insert evil laughter here).
Funny – does look like a Family Guy cut-scene (good call Prof_Rocko).
BTW – the video from Enjonel is pretty cool…

The ending is right, there WILL be a re-release of AKIRA, with enhancements.
The same thing is being done with Ghost in the shell (by the director of course) seen a few pictures of the difference and it makes it a LOT cleaner, and less dstracting
@Will – Actually yeah – it happened in both places… showed up in the SWF file itself. I tried on two different PC’s – one AV scanner picked it up (and auto-fixed it) but the other one didn’t hiccup… very weird. And if successful it could be VERY impactful (and news to most of us!)
