another batman interview, and a new preview clip

  • Television

I did an audio interview with ComicVine all about my episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold which airs – say it with me! – this Friday, January 23rd at 8pm on Cartoon Network.

The interview is here, if you’re interested in hearing me talk.

Also, here’s another cool preview clip, that’s different from the one I put up earlier this week:

Fun fact: there’s a bit where Ted is sort of riding a little chair thing, which bucks him off, and spins him around another robotic thing. I had to do the vocal efforts for that in ADR, and I had to match the “woah, woah … wooooahhh!” stuff to the action on the screen. I don’t know why, but it was insanely difficult to get the sound just right, and match the action correctly. The stuff that you think is going to be hard always ends up being easy, and then it’s stuff like this that you end up feeling like a moron recording, because it takes 14 tries to get it right.
Bonus fun fact: my final line in this clip is my favorite line of the entire episode.

Perhaps we could make a choir of “squees”, some sort of melodic geekiness that will awaken all geeks from their dormant state. Or then again, maybe we could just squee on ourselves…

Dude, that clip was hawesome. I swear I was so engrossed that I watched the whole thing, got to the end and then went, “Wait, that was Wil?” Then I watched it again. Love that last line. Hilarious. btw, I’m not a big Batman follower so really it’s a bigger compliment than it seems. Nice work, Wheaton.

For that to work, we’d have to figure out the geekiest chord in existence.
    Any takers? ^^

So wouldn’t have recognised you if I hadn’t already known, but ‘hit robots, make fall down’ was awesome.
Also had a look back at your ficlets and remembered how good they were as well, but am I mistaken or didn’t you right a horror/thriller based on people not going out at night, or something similar?

Great job Wil! Not being a big cartoon fan (sorry) I hadn’t seen any of your other voice work. I really enjoyed hearing you in action. You do good work.

“Hit robots. Make fall down.” is going to be my new catch phrase. This show looks really excellent. Bummed I won’t be able to watch it but well done!
    Cheers!

Well, Wil, I’ve got some bad news about support for the Alliance.

And, speaking of Batman, check out the glass sculpture that graces the cover of the new Bullseye Glass catalog:

    The piece is ten inches…

I now require a “Hit robots, make fall down?” LJ icon.
Also, is there an online option for those who don’t have TVs? If so, any chance cartoon writers work under a different deal than the live-action WGA writers? Because if it’s online in a way that actually compensates the writers and artists, I am so there (if not, I’ll have to wait for the DVD).

“I mean, he seemed so *mild* *mannered*.”
~grin~ Delurking long enough to complement you on a job well done. My 5-year-old and I watched this one on cartoonnetwork.com this morning, and I’m pretty sure he was giggling at me for being as eager over the show as he was.
