more work in progress

This is from the Coming of Age review I've been working on:

Obligatory Technobabble: “With this new extricator, sir, we could eliminate three more bulky machines from cargo space.” – Riker, explaining how, even though Picard says it isn’t possible, there really is room for a Foosball table in the cargo bay.

Ha. See what I did there?

I'm going to be at the Phoenix Comicon next week, and I'm bringing two unreleased TNG reviews to read. I'm not saying which ones, in case I change my mind, but I think Coming of Age may be one of them.

Totally unrelated to your post. But just in case you hadn’t heard.

Met you at last year’s Phoenix Comicon! You were as awesome as I thought you would be. I wish I could go this year, but alas, other obligations are keeping me at home. I hope you have a great time, and I really hope you come back again next year. I will be there next time! Oh yes I will!

Delighted that you’re doing more of these, as I’ve probably said!
Also, it is the greatest injustice ever inflicted on a woman that I will never, ever meet you because I don’t live in America and cannot attend conventions. “See you in another life, brother…”

On the topic of “Coming of Age”, if the entrance tests are so tough for uber-kid Wesley, how do all the loser officers we see over the course of the series get into the academy? (Or, for that mater, smooth talking criminally-inclined hotshot officer candidates with a resemblance to unrelated Admirals’ sons?)
The only reasonable explanation I can come up with is that, like in-state universities, the admissions committee is a lot more lenient on scores from the home planet.

    Hey Wil,
Where did the “follow me” on Twitter link go? It use to be above the flickr link. Did you remove it or am I going mad?
    Thanks,
    Heather

Hey, if I credit you, do you mind if I use your observation in my review? Because it’s really funny and really spot-on.

Wil, I see your friend John Scalzi is now a creative consultant on the upcoming series, “Stargate Universe”. After being a recurring guest star on both the original Stargate SG-1 and the spin-off Stargate Atlantis, Star Trek: Voyager cast member Bob Picardo was added to the main cast in the last season of Stargate Atlantis.
I think Stargate needs to have a visit by another Trek alumni.

I just heard on the BBC that Patrick McGoohan, from the Prisoner has died aged 80. Very sad indeed.

Wil, just out of curiosity. Whenever you get SOOO freaking blocked that you can do anything because your mind is blank do you ever just head out and take a walk? Or read?

What I always thought was that testing was so strict because they were going for early acceptance.
