Hilarious! I loved The State. Those guys still crack me up in everything they have done since then.

This was one of my favourite sketches by the State. And to this day I cannot hear “Cannonball” without envisioning Michael Ian Black’s glee over his new pants! Cheers for the memory.

Awww. I was hoping they’d belly flop right in there! SPLUT!

Oh how I miss the state.
I have a hard time not asking for something to dip my balls in when I go to a party.
I clearly remember the first skit from the first episode of the nuns getting into the street fight.

The State came to my college back in 1994 for a performance. One of the greatest regrets of my life was that I completely forgot it was happening until someone told me how great it was later that night. They apparently brought out a number of sketches that MTV wouldn’t allow them to do, and spent a healthy amount of time ripping on MTV. (It’s unfortunate that MTV keeps dragging their feet on releasing the show on DVD.)

    Oooooh yeaaahhhhh.
I once went to a wedding where the bride had gone to NYU with all of those guys. In fact, Michael Ian Black was supposed to have been seated at our table, but he was stuck filming the pilot of “Ed” so he couldn’t make it. He sent the Pets.com Sock Puppet (his collegiate invention) in his stead. It wasn’t quite the same thing, but it was still all rather amusing.

Man, The State. I think this was one of the last episodes I saw.
How long ago was that anyway? I think I was a bigger geek back then than you are now, Wil.
(I know. I let old age take it away from me.)

Check out LOVE SEAT. Same great joke, different object of their affection.

That is so freakin’ awesome! I haven’t seen that in years. For the record, my wife is convinced that it was stupid.

I have this linked on my Myspace page. Barry and Levon make great halloween characters if you have a buddy that can appreciate the spirit as well.
So, any story to how you stumbled upon this all of a sudden?

Noooo!! You’ve unleashed (“re-unleashed”?) the comedy beast that was “The State” onto an unsuspecting world! A world which has lived in a drooling stupor of lame SNL skits and dwindling MAD-TV talent. The poor fools….they’ll be helpless against it’s raw power!
    Damn you Wil Wheaton!!!
    Thanks for the nostalgia. 😉

You know, Michael Ian Black was one of Pramas’ roommates back in NYC. Stiffed him on a phone bill, I seem to remember his telling me..

i only recently rewatched these all via youtube, years after the beat-up VHS disappeared.
i believe this may be the best skit in the history of skits.
