I’m going to be in Seattle this weekend for the Emerald City Comicon. I had a blast at this show last year, and I’ve been looking forward to coming back ever since.
I’m coming up a day early to do some media stuff to help promote the con, so if you live in Seattle, you can hear me on KISW 99.9 in the 7am (ouch) hour on Friday morning, and Friday night, I’ll be on KIRO’s show Too Beautiful to Live at 8pm.
The con opens on Saturday at 10. I don’t have any panels on Saturday (though I’m considering an impromptu reading at my table in the vendor’s room sometime during the day) but I’ll be around until they kick us out. Sunday, the doors open at 10, and I have a panel at 2pm. I haven’t decided what I’m doing on that panel, but it will likely be a reading of something from the expanded Subterranean Press edition of The Happiest Days of Our Lives, followed by a Q&A.
I’ll have the usual collection of 8×10 pictures to sign, as well as the few remaining Monolith Press copies of Happiest Days, a few Dancing Barefoots, and a handful of Just a Geeks. I am also really excited that I have some copies of Sunken Treasure.
Admission to the con is $30 for both days, or you can come just Saturday for $20, or just Sunday for $15.
I twitterd my Q, but with eleventy billion followers, how can you keep up?!
Speaking of the Subterranean Press edition of Happiest Days, when does those fancy signed copies ship out? Just wondering. Thanks Wil
Have a great day!
Are you going to have copies of Star Trek manga?
Oh. Yes. Yes I will.
Looking forward to seeing you again and picking up a copy of Sunken Treasure. =]
Stoked!
Cool, we’ll be there as well, so we’ll be sure to drop by and say “hello!”
I found you through Twitter. I’m glad I followed the link to your blog. I’ll look forward to following you. I really enjoy your sense of humor.
I’ll be helping friends with their booths, but if I see you I’ll come and say hello. And most likely shop.
Jk Wil
Looking forward to the chance to talk Trek comics and generally geek out at ECCC this weekend.
I’m already in Seattle for a signing tonight at Zanadu Comics, looks like you have a busy schedule, so do you want to set a time to meet?
DM me at @gothamajp
Sorry for public post, not sure if you got my emails.
Cheers
Alan J. Porter (friend of Budgie)
My wife and I will be there Sunday, and if the opportunity presents itself I will most definitely expect you to back up your claim of lion Voltron being better than vehicle Voltron.
$%#@!&*%$#@!
Does everything cool ALWAYS happen on the West coast? Why can’t we get anything like this in frakkin’ Arkansas….
We never get any cons around here.
*grumble*
So looking forward to seeing you at Emerald City Comicon this weekend! Also excited for Star Trek manga! I’m sure you’ve already got some gaming going on for Friday night, but if not, stop by the Funhouse (near Seattle Center). Anyone else who is in town the EDCC should come too and meet up pre-con.

I live in Calgary, AB Canada.. and I despair that I will ever get a chance to purchase your books from you!! I would like to get the whole current set… Will there ever be a chance of you coming up here? We have two local events; Con-Version and Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo (the latter may be more up your alley). I’ve already put in a Demand for you.
Any chance of you hooking up with the Penny-Arcade crew to record some more DnD goodness?
I really hope so. I would do it in a heartbeat if they asked.
I really hope we can come. My husband’s evil employer may be shipping him off for basically slave labor in your neck of the woods (he’s slated for Van Nuys) for strike coverage, so we’ll see if we can make it to the con. The guest list is AWESOME and I have this really nerdy idea of having all you geeks sign my newborn’s baby book. We shall see!
WOOT! I lives in Seattle area!! I’m thinking I know what my plans are this weekend, stalking Whil Wheaton! Seriously, hoping to catch you there.
I just looked at PvP…Scott is going to be there too. You know this has to happen… 🙂
Excellent. My master plan is unfolding according to… plan.
Meeting you last year was the highlight of my comicon! (hubby still has the sharpie you discarded when signing my copy of Just A Geek.) See you Saturday or Sunday!
Finally! The comicon is back in Seattle. I wandered by your table a few times last year but was too awkward about waiting in line to meet you and say something like, “Uh, hiya Wil … nice shoes!” And run away. But I’m feeling more confident this year and so I think I shall brave the line to meet you, kind sir.
Also dragging the family with me for both days. Since you were on Family Guy (my child’s favorite program) she’s curious to meet you too. My husband is a longtime geek of his own making but he’s playing it cool when I talk about meeting you. Men!
Anyhoo, this weekend’s weather is supposed to be decent but bring a jacket anyway. Sorry, I can’t shake my momisms but damnit I mean well!
Oh wow, I’m already rambling in your face and I haven’t even met you yet. I’ll shaddup now!
Have a safe journey up! See you soon!
Ever plan on coming to NY Comic Con? We East Coasters would love to see you, too! 🙂
Heeey… stick around for the week and come to Norwescon!
No?
Rats. Well.. have fun.
Athe the 2008 ECCC right before I got to your table you got your Cthulu **DOLL**. You went on for couple of minutes about how stoked you were, confirming and solidifying for me your geekitude.
Flying from Denver for the con, can’t wait to meet you!
I’ve been meaning to ask someone, and since I’m here, know any good vegetarian restaurants in Seattle? (Or places to eat that have tasty non-meat menu items?)
Thanks and can’t wait to meet you!
P.S.
Are you allowed to sign stuff I bring with me? It is your likeness featured on a “motivational” poster *fingers crossed*
Argh. I won’t make it this year. Sad Mary Sue is sad.
PEOPLE! If you are in Seattle you must gooooooo! It’s a billion times more fun when Wil’s there!
Why oh why can’t I live somewhere cool, like Seattle. No one ever wants to come to South Dakota. I feel so left out!
BTW. You really should come to SD, we have a school here where only geeks are allowed, and there are a lot of us!
I would like to see this poster, can you post a link for me?
WIIIIIIIILLL! Why did you not tell me this earlier? Now I no longer have the time off work or the money to go down there. Last year was so much fun too! Sad now. 🙁
I would brave border security (again) just to see you. <3
Hi there, as a former veggie who cohabitates with a current veggie I know of a couple.
You would have to drive or take a bus to these two because they are not down town by the convention center. If you are not opposed to “fake meat” Veggie Veggie in the U-District is good (the atmosphere is lacking, just a warning) or the Tea Pot on Capital Hill is great and has a beautiful interior. Both serve Buddhist fake meat and just straight vegetable items.
Lola’s is nearish to the convention center (about 5 blocks) on 4th ave. It’s owned by Tom Douglas who is The Guy who runs most of the successful restaurants in Seattle. So it’s pricey but delicious. Not strictly vegetarian place but there are enough menu items for you to choose from.
The food court in Westlake Center is GREAT. It is right up the street from the convention center. There is an indian food counter and they have yummy samosas and veggie curries.
Those are my suggestions. Seattle is a very veggie friendly place so really any place you go will have at least one or two items for you to pick from.
Have fun and welcome to SeaTown!
There’s a juice + veggie place on the bottom floor of the convention center. I forget what it’s called, but it’s the best kept (until now) secret of the whole area and has saved me from having to eat crappy convention food all the times I’ve been in town.
Any chance you would want to come and crash a Seattle Theatresports show? I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t mind if you guested. It would be great to do some improv with you.
Veggie places: The Sunlight Cafe in Roosevelt area is pretty good and if you are staying downtown there is the Bamboo Garden near Seattle Center. Carmelita in the Phinney neighborhood is great but a little pricey. Seattle is a pretty healthy place so there are often a few vegetarian items on the menu most places.
Just so you know,
Archie McPhee mentioned you, Brent Spiner, and Stephen Fry in their Social Networking Explanation Service (April Fools fake product) video:

I’m sending my son to get me “Happiest Days” and “Sunken Treasure”.
Can I make a check out to Wil Wheaton, and for how much?
Or how much money should I send, (along with some kind of death curse so he doesn’t spend it on graphic novels instead)?
Loved Dancing Barefoot and Just a Geek, and I really wish I could come see you myself, but high school kids have more free time in April than accountants, for some reason 😉
Drat! I’d really hoped to make it, but Dr. Medici has plans for me – I won’t be in any shape to make the trip from Stumptown this weekend. Ah well, maybe next year . . .
Argh! This makes me wish I didn’t have class this week so I could jet off to Seattle! I could always write it off as a family visit…my dad’s sister lives in Washington!
Meh, guess I’ll have to be content with going to Dragon*Con this year. Shame I’ll miss my chance to say “Hi” again…unless you come to D*C, but the chances of that are about as likely as something really unlikely happening…
Sorry for the OT Wil, but I found this at failblog.org and as it is Zombie related I thought you might like it (if you don’t know it yet).

Ooo, ooo, question seconded!
My wife ordered me a copy for my birthday, got charged for it back in January and now she’s getting a teensy bit antsy that she hasn’t heard anything since.
Any news would be appreciated.
Have fun!
Sub. Press and I are working out the final edits. I should have everything turned in shortly after I get back from Seattle, and the book should be able to go into production shortly after that.
Thank you! I’ll let her know, in-between happy dances.
I was already planning to be there this weekend – Studio Foglio are attending. And now I find out that you will be there as well. Bonus!
Mr. Cheapass Games himself might be there as well. . .
Seattle’s a fairly veggie friendly town. My veg friends have never had any problems finding something to eat no matter where we go. Just ask for it without flesh. :o)
Hey Wil, I am looking forward to Hearing you on the radio in the morning, B.J.’s show is pretty funny… added bonus, the rain should stop fro the week end. hate to have you think you landed in North Dakota.
I will hopefully see you at the convention. if I can sneak away from work….
Cheers Whil,
Mitch
Wil, I was just perusing the ECCC site and was curious if we would be able to get a picture with you at your table? Or do we have go the pricey $30 pro-shot route? :o)
Thanks!
There are some people who refuse to have their picture taken if you don’t give them a pile of cash, and I am not one of those people.
If you *want* to do one of those professional things, I’m totally available for it on Saturday. If you don’t, just cruise over to my table on either day and I’ll be happy to take a picture with you.
Ooooooo…. Since I am not in country for this con, Wil, I’d recommend/request that you go over to Phil Foglio’s booth if you get a chance and 1)say hi or meet him because he is and makes all kinds of awesome, 2)congratulate him on his Hugo nomination and 3)pick up the latest Girl Genius volume!
Awesome! And that’s why you’re a nice guy … Whil Wheaton! Hehheh.
Thanks!
I’m looking forward to hearing you on TBTL tonight. KISW isn’t that great of a radio station (far from it) and their DJs annoy the piss out of me.
Luke Burbank and TBTL on the other hand are entertaining and not full of douchebagger.
Also, I will ‘hopefully’ be at ECCC Tomorrow to buy a copy of Just a Geek and you will hopefully scribble on for me. I don’t mean sign, I mean actually scribble on.
I really liked everyone at KISW, and I was really grateful that they didn’t pull the typical morning DJ crap where they just try to embarrass me or make me the butt of the joke.
