Awwwww, that was sweet! Great job on the voice! Had you talked about this project in the past or did I just miss those posts? How did you become attached to it?

Well-crafted story, nicely animated, and I really enjoyed the voicing. Could hardly tell it was you – I didn’t realize you were that versatile.
I, too, got misty. Yay for Kyle and Rosemary!

Been wondering if K+R was going to languish in Nick’s back pocket or not. Glad to finally see it! Awesome stuff!

LOVED it. Not just good but great work with the vocal characterization. I know how hard it can be to get a character consistent through every take, every day. Congratulations!

So sad that didn’t get picked up as a series. It was great! You acting was terrific, too, Wil: I had a hard time recognizing you beneath the excellent characterizations.

That was great! I wasn’t certain that it was you doing both Kyle and Horace – fantastic voice acting.
Re Seattle: Thanks so much for stopping to chat afterwards on Sunday evening. I’m sure it wasn’t the highlight of your weekend, but it made ours utterly awesome.
I’m still not sure how my wife managed to not fall over when you asked about her Doctor Who scarf!
Thanks again Whil… you really are a pretty nice guy!

i loved that cartoon. i seriously hope they somehow decide to make more. the situation is almost exactly what’s happening between the girl i am currently dating and me. it even happens to people in their 20s. keep up the good work in whatever it is you are working on.

Wil, looking forward to hearing more about Emerald City Con, but had to tell you about something that happened at True Realm in IL. I was DMing a room where the party had to fight a demon angel, and the party was having trouble. At some point the player running as a wizard (wearing a pointy wizard hat lit by light bulbs) referred to himself as “Jim Darkmagic!” I asked if the fighter was a dwarf named Binwin, and one of them yelled, “Acquisitions Incorpoarted!” Very kewl! BTW, they did end up defeating the demon!

That was great. I suppose they didn’t make more because it was too good.
I’d be interested to hear about your take on Seattle. From what I saw, you were the most popular geek around.
Nice to read (via GeekDad) that the iTunes Siren whispers to you, too. Looking forward to the semi-regular web comic. I think many of your tweets would make fine lego-illusrated adventures.

That is such a sweet story! Really glad I got to see it. Also, excellent acting. I could tell that it was you but your voice didn’t overpower Kyle’s. After the first minute I almost forgot it was you. I mean that as a compliment.
Also, I would totally swoon if mr. angie k brought me a Flaming Skull of Grimnash.
    This was just plain awesome.
    Cheers!

  31. Mark R. Campbell says:

Your reply just about made her burst with giddiness. If she hadn’t lost her voice, I think she’d still be jumping up and down going “omigod, omigod, omigod!”

    @Wil
You likely heard about Dave Arneson passing away the other day. Now both co-creators are gone.
The Canadian National post paid you a bit of homage by linking their Dave Arneson story to your blog:
    http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/theampersand/archive/2009/04/09/dungeons-amp-dragons-co-creator-dave-arneson-dies-of-cancer.aspx
    They state:
We also couldn’t think of a better tribute to D & D than this series of posts that Wil Wheaton has been posting about teaching his son the game.

  36. Robyn says:
    9 April, 2009 at 3:33 pm

That’s kind of ridiculously amazing. If it weren’t fully developed as is, it would make such a cute series.

See, it’s because of awesome stuff like this that you won Secretary of Geek Affairs. Perfectly sums up how it feels to be a geek.
And as awesome as your visit to Seattle was for you, it was as much for those of us who came to see you. Standing room only for your Q&A, and well worth it. It really felt less like the Guest of Honor granting us his presence, as just a bunch of fellow geeks hanging out, and you were just moderating it.

  38. Matt Hancock says:
    9 April, 2009 at 3:50 pm

All those years tracking the progress and waiting was so worth it in the end. And for Frederator to release it like this so that everyone could enjoy it made it all the better.
It’s times like this where I appreciate what culture group we share and how animation like this is bringing the positive aspects across and not just playing off the stereotypes.
Thanks for participating in the experience and sharing it with us. I’ll be sure to retweet it for all to see. 🙂

  41. Eric Webb says:
    9 April, 2009 at 4:04 pm

That was absolutely charming. Like a previous poster said, I wasn’t totally sure until the credits that it was you doing both voices – some very nuanced work!
So what’s the story with this only going online now when the production blog said it was to air in ’07? Has this gem been gathering dust for two years? Not that it doesn’t have a lovely and fulfilling arc, but would it be too much to ask for more?
Regardless, you’re right to be proud of it.

That was perfect! A “Well done” to everyone involved. I especially liked the reference to Grease for the ending! I’d request more, but the story is so complete already.

  47. Zack Keys says:

-applauds- It was wonderful, Wil. Looks like the ending brought misty eyes all around.
In a way I would love to see this as a series but it worked so well as an individual short, almost storybook in it composition, that I’m afraid it would only be gilding the proverbial lily.
