50,000 Monkeys at 50,000 Typewriters Can't Be Wrong

I still don’t know very much about brain scans…

  • WWdN in Exile

Here are three Star Trek-themed things that have come up recently. All of them made me laugh so hard I pooped a little, so they need to be preserved here for the ages.

First, from Jimmy James, Inc:

Wesley_dance_crew

For the record, Wesley's dance crew was called Jiffy and da Popz.

Next: Last night, Paul of Paul and Storm made WesLOL Crusher:

LOLWESLEYLOL

It's a little uncanny how much it fits with the original image, isn't it?

Finally, this place is real and exists:

Picardlaneandcrusheravenue

For those of you who are scratching your heads right now, that's the intersection of Crusher Avenue and Picard Lane, around the corner from WARP DRIVE. WARP-FUCKING-DRIVE!

BAM!

I think the real winner in that subdivision, however, is Warp Dr.

    I think I just sharted….that is great!
For those who are looking, it’s Turlock, CA.
And definitely, Warp Drive is the winner

Just tried to explain to my coworkers why I was laughing hysterically. It’s hard being the lone Geek.

And yes, there is a 1701 Crusher Ave.

Warp Drive even shares an intersection with Impulse Lane! Who named the streets in that area?

  10. WTL says:
    29 December, 2011 at 12:50 pm

What’s amusing is that Picard is a lane and Crusher is an *avenue*. We know who won that. 😉

  11. Meadrus says:
    29 December, 2011 at 12:50 pm

Is there a cul-de-sac called GNDN Circle?

  12. Quanterium says:
    29 December, 2011 at 12:50 pm

There’s also a Ryker Ct, Alexander Ct (Worf’s son?), and Stone Ct (Commodore Stone from Court Martial?) nearby. It’s in Stanislaus, CA.
Prince George’s, MD has one too: Picard Ln, Reiker Dr, Laforge Ln, and Risa Rd.

Warp Dr – good place for a speed trap
Impulse Lane – needs a quicky mart
Crusher Ave – an insurance adjuster’s nightmare

Well, Hell! Now I know where to move in California.

I can’t believe there is no “Avenue Q”. No. Really!
(The contractor of that subdivision was likely a STNG fan…y’think?).

  19. Chahk Noir says:
    29 December, 2011 at 1:11 pm

“I’m on the corner of Impulse lane and Warp drive.” I’ve always wanted to say that!

  21. Kevin Murray says:

While it is not nearly impressive as the others, we do have a Q St in Albuquerque (with no lettered streets nearby).

  22. Charles Dent says:
    29 December, 2011 at 1:39 pm

I found it amusing to see (via Street View) that Impulse Lane is out.

  23. ginny says:
    29 December, 2011 at 2:21 pm

I would like to live at 1/4 Impulse, because I’m built for comfort, not speed.

  24. ginny says:

Also, too: the Ryker Beard cannot be denied.

OMG, you can’t see it unless you click on a house but the cul-de-sac attached to Crusher Ave is Federation Ct.

  27. A Facebook User says:

  31. Snell1701 says:

Thanks Wil. And now I have laughed so hard I have also pooped a little. Dammit.
You kooky Californians have taken all of the good street names!

  32. A.H.Klein says:
    29 December, 2011 at 3:39 pm

OMG…Warp Dr.? And there’s a Ryker Ct. Dying, dying, dead. LMAO!

  33. Alan says:
    29 December, 2011 at 4:03 pm

Developers do that sort of stuff when they build communities. I remember looking at houses in a development named Camelot and all the streets were Merlin this and Lancelot that with cul-de-sacs named King’s Court and Round Table Way.
Honestly, it makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

  34. Colleen Beaty says:
    29 December, 2011 at 4:17 pm

Oh my god, that’s not far from my house. I must visit it!

  35. CerberusROI says:
    29 December, 2011 at 4:23 pm

Wow, I live about an hour from there, must…go…now. Warp Dr. Engage!

  36. Damon Bradshaw says:
    29 December, 2011 at 4:28 pm

They needed a good name for the little court that became Impulse Lane, but couldn’t decide on anything, so they just came up with something, you know, on the spur of the moment, it was like, really spontaneous.

  37. Mac McGill says:
    29 December, 2011 at 5:01 pm

See I told you those whiskers were transformative. Though I think at least one set on stage incorporating those glam rock duds is imperative.

  38. Joannambartell.blogspot.com says:
    29 December, 2011 at 5:20 pm

    So ridiculously unfair you Californians.
Here in NJ we have to deal with stupid names on our developments like Oak Court, Marigola Way, Crescent Drive.
I’m in the process of buying a house and we’re totally anti developemnt but damn it if there were one around here with a street named Warp Drive that’d change my mind in a heartbeat!
And OMG that first pic is hilarious. What episode is that from? Holy crap looking back some of those outfits were God F-ugly. I hope that they have less of a liking of synthetics in the future!

  39. Monica Gaudio says:
    29 December, 2011 at 5:54 pm

…Why were you wearing those headbands in the first photo in the first place? Please tell me they were shopped. Pretty please.

  40. D says:
    29 December, 2011 at 5:56 pm

I’m not sure why, but I absolutely HAD to google to find out where Warp Drive is. Did you know there are TEN in the US? Most are not as impressive as this one. (There’s also a Ryker Court just offscreen, but the spelling is obviously wrong). But Warp Drive meets Skywalker Way in North Las Vegas.
    Thank you for today’s grin.

  41. Megan Heise says:
    29 December, 2011 at 6:38 pm

I used to live in that town. My husband and I seriously considered moving into a house that was for rent on Ryker. We were so excited when we found that neighborhood.

  43. Elegant Nerd says:
    29 December, 2011 at 7:51 pm

Well, there IS an “Avenue Q.” It’s a musical and it’s funny as heck! http://www.avenueq.com/
Has nothing to do with Q himself, though.

  44. Elegant Nerd says:
    29 December, 2011 at 7:52 pm

    LOL!!!!

  45. Elegant Nerd says:
    29 December, 2011 at 7:52 pm

    Obviously, someone awesome!

  46. Tara Roberts says:
    29 December, 2011 at 7:54 pm

Of course Storm doesn’t live anywhere near College Park, Maryland now. Or else he could have told you a few miles away finds Crusher Court (Lake Arbor, MD 20774). It intersects with Picard Lane, and is a block away from both LaForge Lane & Reiker [sic] Drive.

  47. Elegant Nerd says:
    29 December, 2011 at 7:56 pm

I think they were skiing in the Holodeck and like accidently threw a snowball at Picard, if I’m remembering correctly. I think the headbands are supposed to be like ear muffs? Even though they don’t even go over the ears.

  48. Dedtarget says:
    29 December, 2011 at 8:00 pm

I see your crusher Meme and raise you this: http://tinyurl.com/ycqaze6

Now I’m going to go brew my New Years Mead. Peace out.

I love how the Riker-Beard descends from heaven and makes you “a man”. That makes me giggle!!

If they do any roadworks on Warp Drive, and have to close it down for a few hours…do they put up a sign saying “I’m giving her all she’s got Capn!”
