While you wait for this incredible new Star Trek series to release, I invite you to listen to episode one of It’s Storytime with Wil Wheaton, before episode two drops […]
This month has been such an awful year, my sense of time is … “weird” is the best I can come up with … in a way it hasn’t been […]
Cirroc Lofton played Jake Sisko on Deep Space Nine. I played Wesley Crusher on The Next Generation. And before this week, he and I never talked about it, which is […]
There’s a post in r/startrek collecting some of the more memorable stories we have told, and fans have remembered, over the decades. I added one of my own, which I […]
Sparks!!!
I’m glad you have a sense of humor about this. It’s a useful thing for me, as a fellow artist, to see.
Very funny. Although I never found Wesley to be an annoying character on TNG. He was a well developed character and Final Mission is one of the great TNG eps, along with The First Duty.
I agree. I thought the character was one of the best things about STNG.
Mission accomplished!
Very funny, Wil. I can’t help but feel sorry for poor Wasley, though; I’m among the ranks of people who didn’t hate him (or you, by proxy).
If you look closely there is a compliment…
Of course, this is only part 1.
Part 2 is “Star Trek: The Next Generation II: The Wrath of Crusher.”
That’s where Wesley is Michael Myers and Picard is Donald Pleasance.
“Where’d he go?”
Cue Halloween theme music.
Oh, no! I love Wesley Crusher. At least you can laugh about it.
Haha, one of my favourite videos! I never understood why everyone got so irritated by Wesley, I think he served his purpose very well.
He gave the show a more down to earth feel, I wonder if that is a pun.
Wil, are you aware of Major Grin’s TNG Recuts? Wesley died a lot of times there too 🙂
I never thought Wesley was annoying– and I did really hate the way he was portrayed near the end of his appearances– but this video is solid gold.
Thanks Wil, very funny. The other recuts are good too. My favorite line so far is the last line from Recut Ep. 7: Riker, as he hands Picard an iPad: “Damage report’s ready for your review.” Picard: “Is there any nudity in it?”
Ah, man! Beverly is about to march up there and put some SERIOUS HURT on all o’ them. SERIOUS. HURT.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxopd_qSVKo is a part of a long-running and hiliariously awkward similar set of re-cuts 🙂
Yes, this video was funny and well done. I enjoyed watching all those “Next Generation” episodes, they were entertaining.
You know, Picard entering Ten-Forward and exclaiming “Ales for everyone!” doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when the drinks are free to begin with (since there’s no cash in the Federation anyway). Just realized that.
To quote another Sci-Fi Classic…
If you’re wondering how he eats and breathes
And other science facts,
Just repeat to yourself “It’s just a show,
I should really just relax”
In that episode it’s a Picard imposter that doesn’t act normally.
This reminds me of the old Usenet newsgroup names “alt.wesley.crusher.die.die.die” Not that ever posted or read those messages. I liked the Wesley character.
Bah! Wesley has escaped from worse!
If you like that one, I bet you’ll love this one too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt3EVgKXmHA
This is great! Wesley WAS an annoying character, but Wil certainly is not. Love your sense of humor.
Also, Ready Player One was 10X with your narration.
You know, Wesley did seem annoying when I first watched Star Trek TNG. But, having gone back and watched about half of it again so far, he isn’t that bad at all.
I’m going to put this down to three decades of child actors in movie and TV since TNG’s first run being portrayed solely as annoying foils to the adults. By contrast, seeing a teenager that was smart, helpful and above all else… useful… is quite a relief.
Nice one Wil!
Welvis. Welvis Lives.
HAH! Nice video. Full disclosure, I’m a Wesley… disliker. Hate is waaaay to strong for a fictional character, but I never did like the character. That said, I always put 100% of the blame for that on the writers, who apparently never spent any time at all with teenagers of any sort, or any smart people either. That made everything worse, because the potential for coolness was there, but wasted.
Next Star Trek series, we’ll start a petition for a Captain Crusher character.
