I spent much of today going through last night’s post comments, and making sure that people I’d inadvertently blocked on Twitter were unblocked.
But, uh, the thing is … after going through about 250 links, I’d only actually blocked three of them. Everyone else was “just in case” or something like that. I thought, gee, maybe I didn’t make the instructions for finding out if you’d been blocked clear enough.
But the other thing is, I ain’t even mad. Because I did that today, I saw a couple hundred real people’s faces, and got a tiny little glimpse into what all of those people have been doing with their lives. It made me feel connected in an unexpected way (it put the “social” in “social media”), and though it was time consuming, it turned out to be a nice way to take a break from doing actual work.
And it gave me an idea: Why don’t you introduce yourself to me and other WWdN readers?
Leave a comment in this post that tells us a little bit about yourself, if you feel comfortable sharing that sort of thing. Don’t post personal stuff that could be too revealing or hurt your privacy, but maybe share your first name, if you’re married, have kids, what sort of work you do, and maybe something that you like.
The idea is that, when you see the actual, real, human person behind a screen name or twitter handle or whatever, it’s a tangible reminder that we are all people on the other end of the connection. We’re people with families and jobs and hobbies and passions and hopes and fears and we all live on the same piece of rock, hurtling through space.
Of course, you don’t have to do this, and I can’t stress enough how important it is that you protect your personal information, but since I enjoyed the social experience of feeling connected to actual humans, maybe you will, too.
Or maybe you won’t. I’m not the boss of you.
Hello, Wil, my name is Joe and I live in Glendale, California. I’m an aspiring professional actor (a.k.a. working on getting professional) and I just this week started the process of switching careers to writing freelance. It’s a little scary but I’m hoping I can make more money than I’m making now, at least enough to move out on my own. I just started a movie review blog on WordPress called Flick Reviews which you can find at joemetzgerfilm.wordpress.com. If I’m worthy of the nerd title then I’m definitely a film nerd. I’m also a huge fan of everything Star Trek, Doctor Who, and anything with time travel in it. I’m a huge fan of everything you do, keep up the great work and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Cheers!
Will, I am a 40 y/o man who loves anything Sci-Fi, Fantasy, or just plan weird. I am a manager with a major internet company, and ANYTIME I get to talk to “newbies” about the joys of gaming…it just makes my day. Keep up the good work man, and I hope you know how many lives you touch every day!
60somthing yr. old woman… two grown sons, just lost my domestic partner (and thier dad) of 32 years a month ago.
Ok I noticed no one said anything here. I just have to say I’m sooo sorry for your loss!
Wow – a month ago??? I’m surprised you can put a sentence together because the shock must still prevail. I’m so sorry for your loss. Comforting hugs coming your way.
I’m so sorry for your loss Terry – I hope you’re making it through the holidays okay, and that time may lessen the pain.
Terry, gods, I’m so sorry. I wish you strength and grace, and people to lean on when you need them.
My condolences, Terry. I’m sorry for your loss
It seems as if you have started yet another trend Will: putting the Social back into Social Media. I’ve made it through many of the comments (hope to read them all …). It’s certainly introduced me to a few new ‘must follows.”
I’m going to be lazy and copy the text from my “About Me” blurb on my blog, and add a couple of things too it:
Lover. Partner. Son. Friend.
Depression & Anxiety Sufferer. Borderline Personality Disorder/Bipolar Disorder Dealerwither. (I mention these mental health issues because I’m tired of the media making the mentally ill out to be a bunch of violent criminals. Yes, people with mental illness have done some brutal things. But, more often, we’re non-violent, or more likely to harm ourselves than others. Like many things, mental illness is often misunderstood and sensationalized by popular media. I often write of my own experiences with mental illness in order to break through the stigmas, and, hopefully, do my part to educate people about mental illness. (Sorry, it’s your blog, I’ll keep my rant short!) 🙂
Caretaker. Geek. Atheist. Cook. Music Lover. Fanatic Book Lover.
Photographer. Gay. Writer. Poet. Procrastinator. Humanist. HIV+ (25+ years). Curmudgeon. Pseudo-intellectual.
I am almost 49, and currently reside in Aurora, Colorado, a suburb east of Denver, with my partner of 14+ years, with my 91-year old mother, and with 3 dogs (a.k.a. The Kids).
I follow you on Tumblr/Twitter mostly — though, now that you’re on WP, it makes it easier to read your blog regularly. I admire the way you’ve become your own “brand.” Your internet presence is (given the response to this post) quite impressive and probably much more influential than you know. You adopted the internet early … and made it a cool place to be. (Well, except for the part where all the trolls reside).
If you celebrate any part of the holiday season — I hope you enjoy! And best of everything for 2015.
My name is Andrea. I will soon hit my mid-30’s and I am in no way living the life 5 year old me thought I’d be living, but I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
Two years ago, I started working in a field that I have absolutely come to love and will be doing some schooling in 2015 so that I have the credentials to say I can do this job that I love. I will be forever grateful to my company for taking a chance on me. Yay for promoting from within!
I had the pleasure of calling six different countries home between the ages of 19 – 28. I am forever growing my book collection despite repeated claims that I am going to cull it. My cats, Linden and Tosio, are named after hockey players. Twenty Canadian bucks says you have to google Tosio. Even though I am an atheist, my most prized possession is a bible. It was printed in 1908 in the old German script. My great-great grandfather gave my great-grandmother on her wedding day. It has a section at the back about raising German Catholics in a non-German-speaking country.
I met you a few years ago at ECCC. I had a prepared, short speech – well, two sentences really – to say to you as you signed a photo for me, but all of a sudden I was that 10 year old who had just discovered the world of Star Trek and sci-fiction and you were That Guy so I just mumbled my name and stared at my feet. I guess then that this is also a belated thanks for playing a fictional character that let 10-year-old-me know that it was okay to love science and geeky things.
Also, Canucks > Kings. Always.
My name’s Mel, a 35 year old, recently divorced Australian. I’ve worked as a public servant in the environment department for almost 11 years and I love what I do. I’m also studying part-time at the moment, completing my Honours in Creative Writing, and hope one day to publish something.
Have been a fan of Wil for well over half my life and used to be a member of the old forums Wil had (I think my username was Miki but I can’t quite remember). I still keep in touch with a few people from those days.
Merry Christmas, all 🙂
This is such a great idea. Me…I’m Charles from Edinburgh. I create PowerPoint presentations for a living for an investment company.
Hi, I’m Seth from Omaha, NE. My job is to solve problems and connect the right people together to do it (and sometimes, me). I’m a sci-fi nerd who thinks life is way to short to waste on extreme negativity or anger. I love the power of humor and I want to see people smile more. I have no kids, but an amazing partner who helps me understand more about the world every day.
My name is Jerry and I live and work in Victoria,TX. My money making job doesn’t define who I am. But my hobbies and pasttimes do. I am a wood carver and woodworker. I love making beautiful objects ,usually with an historic flair. I am settled on any time period of work. I love many of them. I carve with a feel for the whimsical side of fantasy. Hobbit ,gnome, celtic works . I also make furniture and pens and anything that strikes my fancy that day when I walk in my shop. I would love to gift you one of my carvings one day Wil. Seriously!
Hi, I’m John, and currently am living in Austin. I’m a PhD astronomer and a gamer (board, RPGs), so I really enjoy Tabletop. My wife and I really enjoyed seeing you at GenCon a few years back. I’m a big believer in science education and that it’s better to light one candle than it is to curse the darkness. Right now, Captain America is my go-to guy.
Hey, John, I happen to be working on a story that takes place inside an infrared telescope observatory. Do you think I could pick your brain about a few astronomy details?
Sure – I’d be happy to help out. Send me a message via twitter, and I can see what I can do.
I’m Rebecca. I work full time doing stuff in Portland, OR, but really wish I could be a full time harpist and am working towards that in the little free time I have. You can find social links over at motorharp.com.
I discovered Wil’s blog years ago and strive to live up to the “Don’t be a dick” motto.
I rarely comment (except that one time when I posted that Geordi La Forge sleep mask), but never miss a post.
Hi. I’m Martin, 32 year old living in Leicester in the UK. I am passionate about Community Development. I like computers (but not computer games), sci-fi on TV, cuddly owls, and Wil’s blog encouraged me to take up D&D and tabletop games only a few years ago – thanks Wil! I continue to struggle with depression which means I am not employed. I play drums in a classic rock covers band.
I’m a female PhD student in a STEM field, and I made it about half a semester in grad school before becoming engulfed in mental illness; I spent the next year or two fighting off panic attacks and wishing I could hate myself to death. It wasn’t until the Depression Lies post that I considered seeking treatment because I thought I was a wretch and a failure and deserved to be miserable. I only questioned those beliefs after learning that Wil Wheaton suffers from depression and anxiety, and knowing that someone I so greatly respect and admire takes medication for the problems I have made it okay for me, too.
It took a couple iterations to find the right medication for me, but I can finally hear over the deafening whir of self-loathing. I play board games with friends! I get excited and make things!
I can’t thank you enough, Nonjudgmental Ninja. I’m fine now.
About me. How to start?
I forget the names of important business contacts moments after meeting them.
I will never ever forget the names of my old Star Wars figures.
I have negotiated 100+ million dollar merger deals.
I have asked a blind man to take my picture.
I am married with two kids. The kids got Takenoko and matching Tabletop Owlbear tshirts for Christmas.
I had know idea what Wil was up to for something like 25 years, then I stumbled across Tabletop and love it, and then found the blog.
I think The Happiest Days of Our Lives perfectly captures that which can’t be explained about being a kid in SoCal in the 70s and early 80s.
anyway, Merry Christmas all and be awesome!
I’m from Omaha too, as Seth above. Retired school teacher, all
grades at one time or another. Love History, Google Earth, and
exploring on the computer, so many things I could never find as
a kid even at the local library. Wil – recently rewatched TNG and
you were great. Toy Story;as well.
My name is Adrià, from Barcelona, Spain, I am almost 42, have a couple of kids (2 and 4 years old).
Love everything you do, love how you do things.
Big fan of TableTop, your blog and, of course, Radio Free Burrito, perhaps time for another post cast? 😉
Love pets and RTS games!
Merry Christmas!
Dave/1 month from 44/married 19 yrs/4 kids/@davromega on twitter/ Many of my recent posts on twitter are pics of Tabletop related things(you are responsible for the purchase of about 12-15 games over the last year and a half or so) or of Vandaleyes related things. We have a rescue pet. I happily supported season 3. I paint abstract art. M wife is fighting depression, anxiety and SAD. I am disabled as a result of a work injury 7 yrs ago. I and my 2 oldest are hardcore nerds(movies, books, music, sports(me only), pokemon(son only), Duct tape(daughter only) and many other things. If you would like to see my paintings they are in an album on facebook (David Roaix). While I have not seen all live action things you are in I have enjoyed what I have seen( STTNG, Stand By Me, Leverage, TWWP, Big Bang..) Good afternoon good eve… wrong one. Good day and may the good news be… wait. Oh yeah, PLAY MORE GAMES!!!
34 Years old. I have a Daughter, just 4, and son, 3 months old. Both are preemies, and I’m a red-head who married a red-head. Date night is Game night for us, and I also do Community Theater when time allows.
Hi, I’m Amanda. I’m a stay at home mom with a 2 year old son. He is inexplicably obsessed with KitchenAid mixers. My professional background is in both computer engineering and environmental sustainability, and I’m a big fan of goofiness and silliness. Nice to “meet” you all!
Greetings, I am Erica. I am an artist, musician, and writer. In the visual arts I work in digital photography, new media, and animation. In the sound arts I am classically trained on flute and guitar, but more recently have been specializing in avant-experimental electroacoustic temporal consciousness transference. Through my scholarly and academic research and writing, as an amateur art historian and cultural theorist, I have come to see history as a form of string theory. As such, I am very observant. The cross-disciplinary connections seen through creative inventions, objects, ideas, and actions, thread the needle that makes the stitch at the center of a tornado-like Venn diagram. Like sonic circuits that lead from the past to the future, the information superhighway of the history of technology and electronic music can introduce us to such threads. Similar to a comic-con, a tourist attraction on that particular interstate would be the mysterious WoodStockhausen festival in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Penciling in Sir Isaac Newton’s apples here, perhaps seen through a circular Lepagean window, helps the vision scrape by. But I digress.
I have spent vast amounts of time sitting at the edge of a lake, with my camera. I keep where I live as a secret town. I work in a studio with a sound booth, it is my lab. The degrees to which the dynamics flow from fiery and molten to chilly and glacial occupy a spectral spread across the dome-space of the head that can only be described in terms of proper drum kit recording and mixing techniques. It is kind of like panning for five figure gold. I also aspire to know the fontanel, have a deep appreciation for the life and work of eccentric jazz legend Sun Ra, visit as often as possible the array of Smithsonian museums in Washington DC, am fascinated by the Winchester Mystery House, have an affinity for brick walls, watched (and listened to) Frank Zappa’s 200 Motels at least 200 times, created a trivia board game that was all about my group of friends, complete with miniatures, game pieces, and cards. and once upon a time made a Star Trek TNG science officers uniform The End.
Hi Wil! My name is Amber. Im 24, from a very small town in upstate NY. I currently live and work in Florida doing data entry for clinical trials. Im working my way up to biostatistician, also for clinical trials. I really enjoy singing when I drive and roller coasters! I love reading your blog posts, as well as Anne’s. And thanks to Tabletop, my game collection and overall love of games has grown like crazy over the last two years!
I’m about your age. I study and make bench copies of 1930’s French jazz guitars. I used to work in the advanced technology labs at Intel on many technologies we now take for granted and a few fascinating ones that never happened but that would have been very cool. I stumbled on to your blog in its very early days and thought it was wonderful because society tends to crucify entertainers who branch out into other interests – and yet there you were – blogging about geo-caching and writing and living life on your terms. I loved it – and have read your blog periodically since that time. My favorite games are Castles of Burgundy, Hive, Splendor, & Morels. The next games my wife and I will tackle are Rivals for Catan, Lewis and Clark, and Eldrich Horror. Up till a few minutes ago, I was listening to the Audiobook of Chris Hadfield’s autobiography: “Astronaut’s Guide to Living on Earth” And yes, I have been a fan of Mr. Roddenberry’s vision of the future since TOS. I think Trek is an empowering counterpoint to the darkly fatalistic view of the future that is so prevalent in media and public sentiment.
Greetings from Texas! I am 52 years young lover of SF, comics, movies and just about all things Trek. I see a Trek not a Wars universe. Thanks to you I now am playing board games again (an old rules lawyer/DM from Hell ruined gaming for me OVER 30 years ago) – now I am out socializing 2-3 days a week playing. I just moved to a more progressive city – Austin – the gaming scene is amazing! Thanks to TableTop I’ve finally played Ticket to Ride, Catan, Alhambra, King of Tokyo – with our current favorite: Splendor (or as we call it “Crack” LOL Such simple mechanics so addicting). Been reading your blog since you started and now that I actually live in Austin I really hope W00tStock will wander this way again. Thank you for giving up a place to meet and chat and share the fun of being geeks.
Beej, You forgot to mention our old letterhead for “Anti-Wesley Crusher League”; just found one and would love to send to send to him. Loved the @ Midnight appearance.
Now approaching/living into middle age in Austin TX. Originally from Corpus Christi where. . . we had to make our own fun in the 70s & 80’s (and 90’s). Loved Trek: 24-hr marathon from the closest Superstation cable, trips to the closest ‘Con during a decade when Trek stars avoided the state, and even held a memorial for Roddenberry at our church.
I’m now the kind of fan who enjoys SF/F when I read or see it, but have given up on ancillaries like “making of”, background interviews or special effects special.. For example, I’m not watching the new trailer because I can’t sustain an entire year of waiting. Too soon to care who’s running for president at this point.
Always loved tabletop games, but lack much outlet, so I stick to Fluxx because it’s easier to drag people into a simpler game. Saw your show on the SF/F version and waited patiently for them to make more so I could give it to Beej. I’m getting involved in church game nights and play Ticket to Ride, and other non-dice games. Love Splendor,, but mistake if for Splenda.
My interests include singing Barbershop Harmony with A Cappella Texas chorus, active in my liberal church, and support local theatre with membership in an Awards Committee. I’ve seen 600 shows in 10 years, and am now adding improv into the mix. I love dark comedies and edgy productions that challenge me while still offering an empathic connection with the characters to the point that I feel I’ve lived another life.

Hi Wil! My name is Nathan and I like to party!
54, married, two girls, upstate NY. Boring computer scientist now doing IT for a bank. TOS fan. Chessplayer. Amateur musician (classical). Perfectionist. Always have loved technology.
good idea though it would take me forever to get through the comments. 50 something, sci-fi and horror fan. caretaker to my husband with Alzheimer’s and the day job is Nurse/IT geek.
Hi everyone!
I go by Duamuteffe online; I generally only hand out my given name to people I’ve been talking to a while. I’m 35 and happily married (second time’s the charm, I guess!) to a fabulous awesome guy. No kids yet, but someday when things are a little more settled. When the economy’s better I work with horses for a living, and when it’s like this I try and work wherever I can. We had a really difficult year and in November I had a breakdown and was diagnosed with depression and panic disorder, so we’re working on getting that under control. So far I get better for a while, and then crash again – two steps forward, one step back. But I am determined to get it under control and get back to enjoying my life again!
I started D&D when I was six, because my older brother got into it and our town was so small he conscripted me to make up enough players for a decent campaign. We also played tons of boardgames; we spent a lot of time at our grandparents’ and they had no TV and lost the electric a lot in the wintertime, so once it got too dark to sled ride or snowmobile we’d light some oil lamps and play boardgames in front of the fire. We played endless rounds of Scotland Yard and Clue: The Museum Caper and Danger Island and Ghosts. My grandmother always bought us whatever board game we wanted for Christmas – she had to go to four malls to find Fireball Island for my brother, and apparently finding Battle Masters for me was an equally epic journey. And now since we’ve gotten back into board games as adults we use some of her Christmas money for them every year to carry on the tradition.
We got into Tabletop backwards; my adopted kid brother mentioned a while back that we had to buy Unspeakable Words and Tsuro of the Seas, so we went to our beloved gaming/comic/used bookstore and asked for them, and their games guy handed us Tsuro but said he and all his distributors were out of Unspeakable Words because of Tabletop. “What is this Tabletop?” we asked, and the rest was history. Now we’re running a boardgame night on Thursdays with whomever of our friends have time to show up, and one on Sunday afternoons with my brother and his girlfriend. They bought us Betrayal at the House on the Hill for Christmas so this Sunday is going to be a lot of fun!
My name is Shire (and nope LOTR didn’t influence my name – Rocky’s Talia Shire did) and I’m 33. I’m a SEM and social media manager plus I write/blog on the side. I love SciFi and Fantasy. I’m a die-hard Doctor Who fan and enjoy a good book. I’m so glad that Wil posted this because I think we spend way too much time on electronics and not enough time with real people just being people!
Hi, Wil, I’m in my mid-40s, married with two children, a cat and a dog. I am also a United Methodist minister.
I’ve read your blog for some time, am a long time Tabletop RPG player, and have enjoyed your books and commentary on geek culture. Keep up the great work and thank you for the Tabletop series on YouTube.
Hi Wil! My name’s Holly, and I’m a 40 year old librarian living in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest and married to my best friend. I like to spend my time hiking, listening to you narrate audio books, and practicing bass guitar in case I ever find another all-librarian band to be in. Thanks for writing and being awesome – every time I visit here I find balm for my spirit and a new game to play!
I’m 35, married with 2 children and live in Kansas where I am a library director. I’m a huge original and TNG Trek fan and I really enjoy tabletop. I like Wil’s snarky writing style and have been reading his blog for a long time now. I like sports, homebrewing, tabletop games, reading history and sci-fi/fantasy (big surprise) and also enjoy cycling. I rarely (if ever comment), but it is nice to meet you all.
PS I never hated Wesley Crusher growing up as I was possibly a bigger geek and more annoying:)
I’m Olli from Germany. I sell computery stuff to businesses for a living, am 33 years old, feel like 25 and act like I’m 16. or vice versa. Whatever.
I also spend far too much time communicating with people an ocean or two away. Or not enough. Sometimes I visit them. 🙂
I’m late to the party on this, but hey, who’s counting? I’m a 34 year old guy, originally from Wisconsin, but recently moved to the south San Francisco Bay area for work. No kids, unattached, but i’ve got some awesome friends, an awesome collection of books, and a job I love in software QA, and my home bar is once again growing in size and complexity after my move. Oh, and I’m a geek, natch.
I have read all of the entries that replied to this post, and I’ve concluded that the majority of your readers/fans are intelligent, sensitive, creative and hilariously funny. Qualities that you possess, Wil. Likes attract??
Hi! I’m Meg, 29, one furry child (a Puggle who is 3.5 and loves nothing more than to cuddle me). I do theatre (everything other than acting) and retail. I love y’alls pictures of Riley, Seamus, and Marlowe (and their names!).
I’m Coeur (yes I know it’s French for heart, but thx for letting me know), 41.9, live/work in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We have the best Mayor ever. Mom of one, divorced, admin at a non-profit agency in a city that lives for oil & gas money. Depression & anxiety battler. Cat/kitten foster mom, Sunday School teacher, facilitator & solution finder extraordinaire. Wil is one of the first ppl I followed on Twitter.
Hey Wil. I’m an Australian Software Engineer who is also an Atheist, lover of science, married with 3 kids and a science fiction nerd who also likes to keep fit at the gym.
My name is Kelvin… Like Kevin, but with a skinny little “L” hiding in the middle.
Sometimes when I’m gently correcting someone who’s entered my name without the L, I will tell them that the extra L that people put in Wil Wheaton’s first name actually belongs on mine. So far, nobody has gotten the joke.
I’m 52, and I work in software technical support and release management. Also an amateur radio operator. Need through and through (as my misunderstood humor would imply).
Hi Wil, thanks for invite for us to share.
My name is Dale and I live in Winnipeg, Canada. I am 42, a husband and a father of two boys and two dogs.
I am writer, photographer, artist, hiker, handyman, computer geek and recovering filmmaker. I love good conversations, beer, road trips and camping near trails and lakes.
To pay the bills, and make all this possible, I manage software development teams.
Happy New Year to everyone!
Hi Wil. First, thank you for Non Judgmental Ninja. 🙂
My name’s Seana, and I use Google social media, we’re connected on Plus and I like it that way.
I currentlly work for someone else, but am going to spend this coming year replacing and exceeding the income they give me, so I can be independent and help others in the best way i see fit. For right now I’m letting someone else pay my bills.
I’m a part of Primerica Financial Services and I’m proud to be so. Please feel free to visit any of my Google platforms to learn anything more you wish.
Ok, I’m like really late to the party, but Christmas and stuff. 🙂
Anyway, I’m Silke. I’m a German geek and I’m married to a lovely American geek, who has been my husband for almost 7 years now and moved to Germany for me. (With his dog and two cats. The snake had to stay in the US.)
In my daily life, I’m a scientist (so yes, I watched a lot of StarTrek in my childhood), in my dream life and free time, I’m a writer (so, Wil, you are an inspiration with your writing). Also, hubby and I love TableTop games, so we’re watching TableTop religiously.
Wil and Anne, you are so inspiring to us, both in the way you handle your marriage and family and your health issues, but also how you support causes and speak out about the things that are important to you. The world needs more of that. Thank you.
Hi. I’m Jen. I have a four year old son & a husband who works nights as a chef so, I watch a lot of tv.
Hey, I’m Andrea. I’m a database manager by day; artist, singer, writer, theologian, and cat staff by night. I live in the Great Plains and always have. I’m kind of addicted to semicolons.
Been following you off and on for a long time, having been a Trekkie since I was seven and we watched TNG on Saturday nights. This internet thing is fun, isn’t it? I have so many friends all over the world now. So many perspectives, and yet so many kinds of common ground. I love it.
Hi Wil (and fans). I’m Krysten. I’m a 27 y/o public librarian in Alabama married to another public librarian. We’re both total nerds. In my spare time I love to read, craft, play video games, and cook. I’ve recently fallen completely in love with tabletop games and watch TableTop quite often. In the past I’ve been quite shy about embracing a nerd life but in the last few years I’ve surrounded myself with people who “get me” and I’ve really embraced being a nerd.
PS–Thanks so so much for NonJudgmental Ninja! Love that guy!
I’m Andrew. I turn 37 about a week and a half from now. I’ve been an anime fan for about 20 years. I was once featured in a Viewer Army segment for “Attack of the Show” on G4. I’m just a big kid at heart. I probably spend way too much time on the internet, lol. I like most music genres except for country. Um, that’s it, I guess? lol.
Hey folks. My name’s David. I’m a medieval historian at a small university in the Chicago area, but in the last few years have become a journalist about police violence and disability issues. It’s been grim but feels worth doing. And y’all are sure interesting folks.
Hi Wil
I’m Dave. Almost 50 and live in Chicago. Read the blog occasionally but really enjoy your Tweets.
As passionate as you are about the LA Kings, I’m the same for the Chicago Blackhawks. Last year’s WCF was probably the best series I ever saw (despite the outcome as Pat Foley would say).
Thanks for the entertainment and Happy Holidays.
Hi Wil,
My name’s Erin. I’m a child of the 70s and a life-long nerd girl. I come from small town ‘fly over country’ and most of the people I grew up with could best be termed rednecks. When I did make it to conventions, it wasn’t unusual for me to be the only female in the gaming room. Having spent my childhood in a string of fist fights over my being a nerd among non-nerds and a girl among nerds, I totally understand the anti-bullying message you communicate. Luckily, I have an absolutely supportive non-nerd family who indulged my love of all things dragons and spaceships.
Thanks for not only being one of us, but being proud of being one of us.
Hello. Frankie Onion here from the UK. Late 20’s, house full of animals, including Ratties, a bearded dragon with a missing foot, and a crazy dog, who all help me to cope with life with depression. Typical awkward geeky lady, socially awkward Star Trek fan, not much to say really. But a big hello to all of you on here, including Mr W. Pleased to meet you all.
Hi! My name is Melissa Nicholson, I am 22 from Thunder Bay, Ontario. I am an Early Childhood Educator in a before and after school program. I am also a devout Whovian, Sherlockian, and all around awesome, nerdy person. I love to play video games, listen to music ( on LP!) and cheer for the Ottawa Senators, and knit. Think that’s about it for me. 🙂
