Happy Spring…

For most people, today is May 1, but for some of us, it’s really the First of May.

I’ve always felt that this video takes away from the awesomeness of the song. But there’s not a great alternative, either.

Anyway, First of May! fist bump

The first time I contacted my (eventually) wife was on the 1st of May 7 years ago, and I sent her a link to this video (not our first message, but within the course of the day).

She still went on to marry me, which just proves how cool she is.

Thanks to JoCo and you, Wil, for all of your awesomeness.

…I have just come to this comment after texting the guy I’ve recently started flirting with that he should track down this song. Hmmm.

(WAY too soon to know whether anything but a summer fling is in the cards, but that’s still just fantastic too.)

I was hoping you would do something for the first of May. 🙂 I may have to wait till tomorrow to participate because I’ve got D&D tonight, but I think I’m making up for that on tumblr. 😛

I live in the Midwest and today has been the first really nice day outside. My first thought was “looks like spring is finally here.” My second was “Hey, it’s the first of May, outdoor f***in starts today.” Then had to sing along in the car a few times.

One of my favorite songs. Excellent for dancing the maypole (literally, although it works for the figurative version, too).

I just realized that Coulton’s “The Future Soon” is about the movie version of Tony Stark, too: “Work through the daytime. Spend my nights and weekends perfecting my warrior robot race, building them one laser gun at a time. I will do my best to teach them about life and what it’s worth. I just hope that I can keep them from destroying the Earth.”

I’ve been using that phrase for years, having read it in a Julian F. Thompson book, but I never realized it was a Thing. Thank you for making my month with this video!

Every year I remind my wife of this song along with copious hints. Every year she smiles… and then finds some way out of it.

    Someday!

My ex and I used to do this every year in May at what we called the turtle pond in the National Grasslands in eastern Colorado. One year a convoy of UC students passed by about a half mile away while away while we were doin’ it doggie style. We just waved to them as I was sure the binocs were out. Yes, the little ten foot diameter pond was filled with turtles every year.

Oh shit , I didn,t mean to use my real name! Anyone wants to look me up can find me now, but I warn you that I’m old and not so virile as I once was.
