Sad, but know the wait will be worth it. We’re all expecting the birth a greatness…No pressure, Wil.
Atta boy Wil. It’s your world bro, literally – we’ll wait and be happy we did. I’ll be mashing the F5 key 9, June.
I coughed up cash to support the RPG series for a couple of reasons: you make awesome stuff, and I really enjoyed the Penny Arcade/AQI adventures you worked on a couple of years ago. If you say it’s going to take more time to get it right, I trust you. Go forth and create!
As some one who is just running into the be creative on a schedule problems, it was awesome and comforting to see someone as professional as Wil also occasionally has to go nope, need more time.
I am sure it will be great and look forward to seeing it when it’s ready.
I will be here. Do what you gotta do, brother.
Thank you for the explanation. As someone that struggles with the creative process, it’s a great reminder that 1) it is first and foremost a process and 2) transparency and honesty go a long way. Like others here and elsewhere I am excited to see this new world you have created with the help of others, as well as an example how GM and players work together to tell the story (I plan to show this to my friends as another way to play). Another week is a small price to pay to for something which will be closer to 100% awesome (if not 100%).
Thanks for the well reasoned explanation. Do what you gotta do. I’ll be there when you’re ready.
On a side note, can you identify the movie playing in the background? It looks vaguely familiar but I can’t place it.
It’s The Man From Planet X https://youtu.be/qt5AZEKlgp8
Thanks!
Do what ya gotta do. A week one way or the other isn’t a big deal, and I’m looking forward to seeing it when it’s ready.
The unhappy people can learn patience.
Forget to set your alarm, Wesley?
I think this was honest. True to who you are and your process. I am looking forward to the show. Go make the blue print. You’ve done it before.
Hi Wil!
Speaking on behalf of a few a non-creative persons- we don’t always realise or recognise what goes on behind the scenes. So thank you for a) being awesome, b) treating us like real people and taking the time to explain to us why you decided to delay the release, and, c) doing your best to make sure that the show is as good as you think it can be.
Looking forward to watching it ๐
Worth the wait! Make it something you truly love and are proud of!
Really looking forward to it, are we allowed to know how many episodes we might get? My roommates and I have been shaking excited about it since we heard about the possibility of it during the backer campaign.
No worries, Wil…I’m excited for this, and it’s better for it to be ready. All is well….we’ll be watching next week!
Is your shirt one of those magic eye puzzles? I think I saw a gargoyle sitting on a mushroom.
Take the time. Get it right
Awesome! Creation takes time, love, and effort. Thank you for putting it in it. Thank you also for communicating!
You apologized too much! ๐ No need to apologize at all, really. Reasonable people will appreciate the effort you put into it, and the fact that you wanted to make sure it’s something you’re happy with.
I care … and I think you made the right decision ๐ All too often people rush work to immature completion under the excuse of a deadline, and everyone ends up disappointed. I wish more people had the guts to make the call you made. Since we’re going to live with the results for a LONG time either way, why not take a little extra time and get it right. ๐ Yay Wil !
Take your time man.
As you said you have to be 100% satisfied with your creation to feel good about it.
Yes Iยดm excited about your show, coming from Tabletop, but Iยดll rather have something you feel is amazing with no problems at all, because if you feel that way I am sure I am going to feel like that.
No pressure here.
No worries! Take your time, there is no hurry.
If it had come out that it was going to be delayed for a week and had the typical spin on it, or no good explanation, I would have become suspicious and/or disgruntled. As it is, I’m even more excited to see what comes out because there is more than exactness, but a great deal of care and love in the project. This explanation was wonderful and others should follow suit, apologizing to those who are upset, being open and honest about the reasons without laying blame on others, taking responsibility without backing down from the decision. Good on you sir, I look forward to the exciting fulfillment.
that’s cool. Hey, next time you do a video blog, please turn off the B&W horror movie in the background, terribly distracting.
The Dude abides. Most of us are used to waiting YEARS for something we are excited for (Game of Thrones, Name of the Wind). What’s an extra week or two here?
I’m trusting the process. It’s your baby, you get to do what you have to to bring it to life. And, OMG, loving the beard!
So Wil is planning on this lasting 3 to 5 YEARS? That sounds great!
Well, I wouldn’t say “planning”. I would say “hoping”. This first season was so dense and had so much stuff in it, we ended up cutting out about half of it, so the second season is essentially plotted out (in terms of the very big events; the characters did a lot of surprising things that I would incorporate into the second season, provided they all survive the first season).
I know how the entire story ends, but I don’t know exactly how we get there, and how many seasons we’d have to do it, but I think I know how to make it happen in three or five seasons.
June 9th is my birthday ๐ Thank you, this will be the greatest gift ever. so excited
Hate to say this, Wil, but I vote that you shave (or at least trim) the beard.
No big Wil! I am super excited to see this show and a slight delay will not put a damper on my feelings. I think having you feel the final result is closer to the vision in your head is a good thing. I have went to talks where people say something I loved that they created did not hold up for them. It made me feel stupid for being charmed by it. So get it right so we can all enjoy it and when we ask you about it at the cons you can be still super excited.
Hey Wil,
As a long time gamer of RPG’s (started in 1982), one thing I’ve learned over the years as a player and as a DM/GM/Storyteller/Arbiter
/Judge/Watcher/etc. If it’s necessary for the GM to post pone a session a week or two, in order to get everything they are trying to fit in, just right. Then it’s best to take that time. That first session is the most critical, it establishes the framework for why we care.
Same applies here. Glad you decided to hold off, until you were truly sufficiently happy. You only get one chance for the first impression.
And as You say… Play More Games!
You know … the stresses of this delay can’t possibly have helped anything in your digestive system.
Get well, Wil.
